When we get to Heaven we won't be rewarded for what we received. We'll be rewarded for what we gave.

This was part of a sermon I listened to this morning.

I've been thinking of things we could give.
The Good News I believe is the most important. His Word.
Love
A hug
Money
Food
Our Time
A listening ear
A smile
Clothing
A kind word
Words of encouragement

Love all of those shares! Thanks so much payne and Pocono!

That's a very good list, Pocono.

I will add: shelter, comfort and caretaking.

pocono, (" "HALL eluj ah" CAN I HAVE A AMEN. ")

1 PETER 4 12-14 KJV

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Good adds to the list Dekrator.

I'm sure there are more folks here than we realize Payne. There were many months at a time all I could do is read. I've seen some post only once or twice stating they're not able.

I totally understand the inability. I am so grateful for everyone here. Especially God!

Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,

the fruit of the womb is a reward.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,

so are the children of one's youth.

How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
they will not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
(Psalms 127:3-5)

Thanks, Pocono! I enjoyed that. I'm going to sign up for the daily devotionals. I may not always listen, but I will try to become more focused!

My brain has been "elsewhere" lately.

I listened twice. It was good. It's a 21 part series. I especially liked the analogy to a pearl. Dr. Jeremiah went through cancer himself.

I'm sorry Lymetoo. I'm not sure what you mean about your brain being elsewhere.

I know what happens when mine is elsewhere. I became very discouraged yet again. I was so looking forward to learning from my new study Bible and started in Genesis.

I wanted to read through the entire Bible again.
I realized after finishing Exodus that I wasn't retaining the information. [Frown]

I have pretty much stopped reading.
I was losing my passion for God despite fighting those feelings.

I thank God for all of you because at those times, you pull me back in. [group hug]

I will be leaning towards mothers day soon...♥

In his heart a man plans his course,

but the Lord determines his steps.

May Faith close our eyes
and bring forth our true direction..
upon the path of The Lord's Will...

Yes, 2roads, the listening is free on the David Jeremiah website. He's really easy to listen to. I think I used to hear him on the radio.

Pocono ..

I'm OK spiritually, but need to get my brain back in focus. I've had some physical struggles lately that have made it harder for me to focus and have decreased my attention span.

It's just been hard to get anything done that I really NEED to do. I know you can all relate!!

Hi all,

I've been reading but not posting. Thanks for your beautiful shares.

Dogsandcats, Not good. My daughter stayed out all night Saturday when the boys were at our house.

She has resented me for years, so there is no talking to her.

I pray and pray and beg and pray.

Mother's day is the most difficult day of the year for me.

I just keep trying to lift myself up through scripture, prayer, inspirational books and music, sermons and friends.

Wow! So much to respond to. I,too, come and read often but don't know what to post. Pocono, will be listening to the message. Very timely for me.

Payne, Let go of what I can't control...very needed.

I heard a teaching which was based on Mark 11:23

"Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him."

The man taught that there is a time to pray and then a time to say. His basic idea was that we pray and ask God. Then we begin to speak to the "mountain" declaring what God has done.

We all have "mountains" in our lives. Here is one of my favorite songs. I may have posted it before.

http://www.godtube.com/watch/?v=WDGKK7NX

Doctors are still in a quandry about what to do with my health. Much wisdom is needed.

I'm sorry Lymetoo. I pray for you and all here. It seems like Lyme just keeps on giving (bad) and taking away good. BTW, if you're picking up brains, grab mine too.

Really nice song Soccermama. Thank you for sharing the teaching. That's what I need. Simple. I wish it were simple for our doctors. I know what you mean.

I listen to different teachers of the Word. David Jeremiah IS easy to listen to. I can't handle any that raise their voice.

James 1:12
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

I have a question. Stupid maybe but it's been bugging me. I thought any time we reference Jesus or God, we are to capitalize it.

I'm referring to pronouns. James 1:12 is a good example. Shouldn't "him" at the end be capitalized "Him"?

Dekrator - May God give you peace on this mother's day and all future ones will be good.
