Close call.......I froze the one I found on me - wanted to see if it would die from the cold temp. Of course it did not.....We are not safe from these vectors. Be careful out there in the mushroom field!

The dog ticks can transmit infections too - I agree with you, stay away from their territory.

Hi Ann Yes i found two greys and 2 yellows.
They are real scarce around here now.
I think they grew on Elm tree roots and all the elm trees died.

Oh, yum! They liked to grow around ash trees, too and the emerald ash borer is killing all the ash trees off around here.
We found them near wild cherry trees, too. and in areas where you wouldn't guess they'd grow. We have had so much rain, I haven't had a chance to look this year.
