Just thinking via the keyboard.
Checked mapquest.
Looks like 8 hr trip via car to LLMD.
$150 in gas so $300 round trip in my 93 Nissan Pathfinder with over 200,000 miles.

Consdered taking Angel Flight but don't think health could handle it.
Consdiered train...but dont' think health could handle that either.
I have tried both in the past when health was doing better than it is now and it was too much for my health.

Found person who has FB page for those who are seeing the doctor I will be going to.
She has yet to accept me on the fB page so I can communicate with others.
I also am connected to a yahoo lyme support group so need to go to that site and see if I can remember my yahoo information and log in. when health allows.
I did talk with one person and she said she stopped going to see the LLMD after two years as she ran out of money.
This LLMD takes medicare so hoping tha will help some and I have a primary care doctor who is willing to work wtih lyme specialist so hopign tha will help too.

Other thing I want to look into is renting a vehicle instead of taking the Pathfinder.
Guessing it will cost more to rent a vehicle even if it gets good gas mileage.
When my friend had the old pathfinder, she would rent a vehicle to come see me instaed of driving it.
She said because the vehicle got better gas mileage and cost less than driving the pathfinder.
But, I need to check on this myself.
It might ahve been because the rented vehicle would be mroe reliable.

OK I checked locally....u haul regular truck or cargo van...not sure if they have reclining seats...would need to check..might not even be a possiblity if I can lay down or recline
$300 whether I have it for 5 days or 3 days..same price
I think the 900 miles is where the cost is plus I would need to put in gas
So, this out
Next step would be to check down the hill to rent from a car rental...none in this area now.

Maybe just my anxiety coming out...do you have to drive thru desert
Do you have celll...are you sure you will have coverage if emergency
I dont want to discourage you...but i couldnt do that alone. I hope you will be safe

I agree... No way you can drive yourself, kam. I would never attempt it by myself.
Gas would cost more than $150.

Having someone drive me is also on the to do list.
The appt has not been made yet. I just got the paper work in yesterday.
It is $20 a day here for U haul locally...but if you travel out of town there is a mileage charge.
I think it is 59 cents a mile ..not sure...just know that thought ...renting one of the u hauls trucks or vans that are not the big moving vans is not going to work.
Yes. I would prefer to wait until fall to make this trip. We'll see how things go.
I can't sit upright for very long or slouch for very long. I need to be flat on my back.
But, also get car sick so not sure how all of this is going to work.
When I first got sick I could drive places but not any more. Health has gotten worse.

sent email to hertz rentals ....but later found a place that told what kind of mileage the cars get so need to go back when able and factor in what it would cost to rent a car vs taking my car.

A friend from CA said she would ome and get me and drive me to the LLMD in CA.
Next step now is to make sure the LLMD takes the medicare plan I have and if I can make payments for my part of the cost.
And get an appt date. I asked them to text me or email me for the appt time as using the phone is usually out.
I also asked for first thing in the am or late evening for time as that is when I function better.
Considering taking my sleeping meds and laying on the back seat of the car to get ehre. My friend usually doesn't sleep well at night and I think would be OK with driving at night
I just don't know if I would be able to fall asleep on the back seat of the car....i have tried laying on the back seat in the apst and it dint' work out.
Ican't stretch my elgs out adn can't sleepp on my back...
too uncomfortable pain wise...but I also hadn't tried the sleeping med combo and was awake.
I also get motion sickness. Tried the pill for htat and it made me worse.
My friend usually falls asleep in the early morning and sleeps until after noon or so...so once we get there, she could go to sleep.
Wishing my friend would see the doc too as I know she has health issues too.
