Hi friends,

I am reading a book called, "Outrageous Courage" by Kris Vallotton and Jason Vallotton

It is about a woman, Tracy Evans who started out as a rebellious teenager and became a bold, courageous missionary who was in incredibly dangerous situations but always believed that God would be there for her no matter what.

She shared many of her struggles getting to a place of loving and obeying God.

I just wanted to share a little a few parts that I highlighted as I have been reading.

"One of the central themes that began to emerge in my early years in Weaverville was the importance of obedience, of listening to the Lord's voice at all costs and knowing that what happens in the end is not my responsibility. Rather, it is my responsibility to obey and to let Him take care of the details."

Tracy had a fervor for sharing God's love and word with the sick and dying. She was working as a nurse's aide in a hospital and her nursing supervisor was not happy about her fervor.

Tracy described the supervisor as a cross between a Rottweiler and an over loaded Mack truck. She as loud, pushy, anti-Christian and built like a Sherman tank.

A 39 yr old man came to the ER with chest pain and Tracy had only 10 minutes alone with him before the "Sherman Tank" would be back with the Dr. Tracy felt pressed with urgency to share about the Lord with the man, but she had already been told that she would be fired if she did it again.

So instead of telling him about the Lord, she took his medical history. He had no history of heart trouble.

He had a dull, nagging pain in his chest and left shoulder. Tracy felt more urgency to share but she did not listen.

The nurse and Dr came and suddenly the man experienced a cardiac arrest and fell into Tracy's arms. They tried to resuscitate him but he was gone.

After her shift, Tracy felt utterly defeated. She had refused that man his last chance to hear the Gospel. Instead of obeying the Lord, she succumbed to the fear of man. (my own words here: Boy can I relate to that!!)

Tracy's head was spinning as the consequences of her inaction pressed deep into her soul.

From the ashes of her disobedience she gained a new resolve. She says, "I determined that from that day on, I would never let the fear of man control my life again, even if it cost me my job-or my life."

She says that God was asking her to trust Him and His Word above human threats or personal fears.

She also says, "The process of learning obedience makes us trustworthy to receive the prize of our Father's purposes for us. I now understand that the depth of my obedience determines the level of authority I carry in God."

My words again: This is a great lesson for me and I am working on this in many aspects of my life. God bless and have a great week!

sweet De,
it was along road for me at 57 to understand

my Obediance to the Lord is my JOY.

I have never Obey'd a man to where I found "JOY"

Yet, with the Lord,
it always lead me to great JOY !
At times we must just "LET IT BE"..

I never saw the Beatles as spiritual inspiring,

This was emailed to me today and I had to share, since it fits in so well on this thread:

GOD'S Rosebud

How to unfold a rosebud?

A good thought to ponder to start your day. I thought this was beautiful!

A new minister was walking with an older, more seasoned minister in the garden one day.
Feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was asking the older preacher for some advice. The older preacher walked up to a rosebush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of God for his life and ministry. But because of his great respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to try to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact. It wasn't long before he realized how impossible this
was to do.

Noticing the younger preacher's inability to unfold the rosebud without tearing it, the older preacher began to recite the following poem...

"It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine."

"The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so easily,
But in my hands they die."

"If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?"

"So I'll trust in God for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to God for guidance
In each step of the way."

"The path that lies before me,
Only my Lord knows.
I'll trust God to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose."

Please share this poem with a friend if you enjoyed being reminded to let go and let God unfold your life.
