http://www.prevention.com/health/health-concerns/truth-about-lyme-disease

"John Gordon (pictured above) isn't sure exactly when he was bitten, but when he went to the doctor, they pulled eight deer ticks from his left knee. The tiny bugs were still alive and wriggling. Instead of being freaked out, Gordon was excited. He'd volunteered to allow these ticks to latch onto him and feast."

Yes, I read that and if it isn't proof of chronic Lyme I don't know what is. Wormser needs to read this and change his tune.

I know! They mention how important prevention is .. but they held to the party line about the tick having to be attached for 36-48 hours. Hogwash!!

Yes . . . they are still very much undereducated.

But, in those whose ticks did not have detected borrelia after attachment, that does NOT prove that person does not have chronic lyme. Lyme does not hang around in the blood supply near the skin, usually . . . it burrows deeper.

To say that if the blood near the skin exactly where the tick attachment is / was did not show lyme is ridiculous. That cannot be said.

Logic / understanding the science of lyme first - seems missing in this.

I also really wonder if ANY tick can be proven to be disease-free enough to do such a study? I doubt it. How would they really prove that with so many infections. Somewhere down the line, their "parentage" may have passed stuff that went undetected.

Still, it was good that some light was shone from this . . . but it's not necessary what they think about the "free" ticks at the end.

There are other holes in this study, too that some test subjects could still be at greater risk than anyone in that study thinks. I'm glad they are thinking but wish they were better educated beforehand.

We ALREADY have proof of chronic lyme & persistence. Why do this dangerous study at all?

Wonder if they cover treatment for participants if they become ill in a year or more?

"Despite his ordeal, Gordon counts himself among the lucky ones. After he'd been on the standard antibiotics just a few weeks, his knee started to get better. In months he was back to tennis, basketball, hiking, and skiing. His left knee is still a bit sore and stiff, but he blames that on the two unnecessary surgeries he endured, rather than the Lyme itself."

really..... Mmm Hmm.... we shall see
