You're welcome - it's fabulous information! And alot of it's medical. I don't have time to discuss here, but maybe sometime I will make a few notes here. The topic is very new for me.

So, one person presented tonite on use of some essential oils for pain, so I'll post a few notes here.

Lavendar oil is good for skin pain.

Lemongrass oil for a knee scrape.

Marjoram oil is good for muscle pain and fatigue.

Peppermint oil aids in circulation and oxygenation to muscles. It has 12 active compounds in it. Menthol is a main one. All the constituents work together.

Peppermint oil is used for pain in joints,
muscles and nerves.

Peppermint is also good for the digestive system. It stimulates the liver to produce bile.

Both peppermint and wintergreen are good for pain in nerves, joints and muscle pain, muscle spasm and swelling.

Can apply them topically right to the affected area.

Can dilute with a carrier oil like coconut oil or olive oil. Also dilute if feel too "hot".

They are good for day application. Aid in circulation and energy.

For night oils, you want calming ones. Lavendar for sleep. Basil oil for muscle relaxation. Thyme oil for anti-inflammation.

Aromatic use - ie air diffusion not that helpful for pain.

If bad muscle spasm, can take marjoram and frankincense essential oils internally. Put one drop of each in an empty capsule with a couple drops of coconut oil. Take a couple times a day. Can add a drop of oregano. (caution to us - I think oil of oregano can induce herxing)

Frankincense oil is good for nerves, muscles, "any issue". It's also been called a potent essential oil against cancer. Also known as boswellia.

Thyme oil inhibits inflammatory Cox 2 enzymes, especially when stiffness and swelling are present.

For chronic pain, do a combo of basil and thyme essential oils at nite, diluted with coconut oil. Rub it in topically.

For acute pain, swelling and inflammation, apply multiple times, with a 2-hour window between applications.

Can make cream blends, like lavendar and peppermint diluted with coconut oil, to use during the day.

For a night cream, use basil or thyme or marjoram oils as an anti-inflammatory.

Robin, because of your chemical sensitivities, you will need to proceed with extra caution.

I was using the oils "heavily" and now I am not using them at all due to being so sensitive.

I just wanted to warn you before you went out and bought a bunch of them. If you do buy, use the BEST. There is only one company whose oils I would use.

Ok, thanks - this is only in note form at this point - I haven't tried any essential oils except tea tree oil, and orange essential oil as my chosen tick repellent, also is a great cleaner. Thanks for the alert!

I agree with Lymetoo. I looked at several different e. oil companies before making my decision, and I only found one whose oils are so rigorously tested and so pure that you can take most of them internally. There may be others, but I couldn't find them.
I wanted to be able to ingest them because the first time I rubbed a couple of drops of their oregano oil on the bottoms of my feet, the house smelled like a pizzaria for two days!

I watched a video of one of the co.'s drs. teaching a class on their Lyme protocol, and since just the oregano oil alone brought me, in six days, from barely able to walk to being able to go out and run errands, I ordered the rest.

Well, except for the melissa oil, which I couldn't afford and they were out of anyway. But I'm taking 3 drops each of oregano, thyme, clove, cassia, and tea tree oils in a capsule, twice a day.

At my second app't. w/my Lyme doc, she said she wanted to hold off on the abx and see how these oils did for me, since they are natural antibiotics. And anti-viral.

She's going to have a powow w/the co.'s docs as well, to see if there's any other oils they'd recommend for Lyme.

I used to think using essential oils for anything but the mildest things was a waste of time and money...until my daughter gave me that bottle of oregano oil to try, and the result was nothing short of a miracle. Made a believer out of me for sure.

But then, why wouldn't it work miraculously -- God made it. I call oils, herbs, vitamins and minerals, etc. "God's Pharmacy"! [Big Grin]

Lymieloo:

This is the Lyme formula I was told about. I was already well when I found this so I've never tried it. I would say it would kick your butt pretty hard!!!

(and truthfully, after what I've learned about the oils, I would not be comfortable trying it)

2 drops of Frankincense
6 drops of oregano
12 drops of Thieves

With a Lyme flare up, take every 4 hours the first day, then every 8 hours for 4 days.

(I would never want to see the herx on this one!!)

Wouldn't the oregano one be enough to cause a herx all by itself, if anyone knows?

Lymetoo, are you saying all of those drops at once, every four hours?!?

Or do you mix that blend together and take one drop of that??

My hubby herxes over 1 drop of A-Bab!

Yes, all together in a capsule. NO way I'd do that myself. It's not one company's plan .. just something someone posted on Facebook about 2 yrs ago.

It would be pretty hard to handle all of that! I am in no way encouraging it!!!! [Eek!]

Thieves is very strong .. and it's a "hot" oil. I know it would be very hard on the stomach, for one thing... and so would the others.
