Hi, everyone!!

We stand with hiker as she mourns of the loss of her father, the father who has stood by her for 97 years! God bless, hiker.

I'm running around nutty over here, because my brother and his wife will arrive tomorrow afternoon.

TuTu thank you for getting us going this week!

I've been thinking of Hiker everyday and pray that they will be safe and have strength to get through what has to be done.

My heart goes out to you Hiker!

Just cooked my usual Sunday dinner yesterday. Made a brisket in the crockpot, cooked brown rice and riced some cooked cauliflower, nuked mixed veggies and made a small cucumber tomato salad. For dessert we had store bought orange/cranberry scones and low carb vanilla ice cream.

Today is a fasting day for me so I'll take it easy.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Tutu--Glad you can see your brother.

It's been a rough couple of days. Met with funeral home director yesterday. Coroner is doing an investigation on whether Dad's death is natural (dementia) or accidental (due to falls). To me, it really doesn't matter, but it does mean we can't get death certificates soon.

Mom is such a mess and I am at a loss how to help her. Yesterday I cleaned out my Dad's office, checked his emails etc.

Today I tried to help mom organize papers and cleaned the bathrooms.

Next week when my brother and his wife come, we will clean out the rest of Dad's things and donate a lot to Goodwill.

I finalized the private church service for next Tuesday.

Drove back to my home and did my knee exercises.

Tis snowing a bit now. Not ready for that!

Chilly and rainy here today.

Did my balance exercises. Worked on my Bible study.

Called coroner's office again to get more info. They did not even have the correct name of my dad's MD, so not sure how they would proceed with investigation.

Mom's phone doesn't seem to be working well. As of yesterday it would just ring and ring and ring, but she never heard it. May need a new battery. Not good timing.

Have a good evening.

Only thing I did was a load of laundry. 2nd day of fasting so it's kinda tough.

Hiker what a mess with the investigation. My sister's death was investigated and it took about 3 months. I hope and pray it won't take long for them to determine the cause of death of your dear Dad. Been thinking about you and hope you're hanging in there.

Night everyone!

Cloudy drizzly day here too. The sun did try to peak out a little this afternoon, but didn't really succeed.

I took the house plants outside and hosed the spackling dust off them. They look much happier with their nice green leaves instead of white ones.

Cooked lunch and supper today. Scalloped potatoes, Italian chicken thighs, green beans for lunch. Potaoes with brown butter, green beans, chicken livers rolled in cornflake crumbs & fried in butter, and leftover Italian chicken for those who refuse to eat chicken liver.

Folded some wash and put a few more things away.

One son's poison ivy was getting infected, so doctored him up. Say a few prayers for his healing please, if you think of it. It did look better before he went to bed.

Thinking of you Hiker as you figure out all these extra things that need to be done.

Lymetoo, enjoy the time with your brother & his wife.

Hubby is complaining he hurts - he's using muscles much more than he had in quite awhile with all the moving boxes and building shelves and such like. He took a long afternoon nap and rested again after supper. Doing a foot detox now.

Oh, yes, I also got my African lily bulbs into a box and on the back porch to dry before I put them away for winter.

Well great.....had sinus pain and pressure last night and had trouble sleeping. So medicated myself to be able to sleep.

Today my face is a bit swollen so did some NasalCrom and took liquid zinc and EmergenC hoping it'll help.

Manna sounds like you're getting things done! I'm a fan of chicken livers but I don't cook them. There's a little chicken wing place close to the house that makes them to order. My Mom likes them on the soft side and they make them just the way she likes.

Guess I'm going to take it easy today.

Manna--You are the energizer bunny.

Ak--Hope that sinus pain eases up quickly.

I went grocery shopping this morning.

I did my knee exercises this afternoon.

Did some odds and ends like filling the bird feeders and getting gas for the car.

Mom's phone still won't take incoming calls, but I nearly had a heart attack when I got a text saying her life alert button had gone off. Had to call her neighbor to check on her.

Turns out one of the employees at the retirement center was trying to help her fix the phones and tried out the life alert system while she was there. I think it is a phone line problem, because all three phones wouldn't suddenly not work.

So, they will have to get a repairmen in there to figure it out. Meanwhile I can't just pick up the phone and call mom and she always seems to call when I don't hear the phone etc.

I practiced the eulogy I wrote for Dad's service but I can't get through it without tears.

Went to the chiropractor and now will rest.

Tutu--How is your brother's visit?

My brother called this morning before I was out of bed. At least I was awake, I didn't tell him I wasn't up yet! We've been getting to bed late and getting up late. Night owls at this house!

Did 2 loads of wash today.

Unpacked a couple more boxes. Daughter was helping this evening and putting wall hangings up.

Made chili & corn bread for supper.

It was cloudy again today, but no rain.

The tree trimmers came by today. One guy came up to the house to tell us they will be cutting the top off our one tree at the wires. I asked what they do with the chipped wood, and he said they give it away. So we got a load of chipped wood to use for mulch. I think we'll let it set a year as its got some rather large, chewed up pieces in it.

Hubby has his office almost done. Still has some items that he's not quite sure where to store them. His space is smaller than his old office.

Son's poison ivy is better. He said it doesn't hurt anymore.

Sonny went out this morning to use the weed eater on the briars in the goat pasture. Now the goats can see the house better and baa when they see someone come outside.

The chickens can escape the pasture - they love to check under the bird feeders for any dropped seeds. They do all go back to their pen in the evening. Since there are no gardens or flowerbeds for them to destroy, we'll let them roam.

Had Bible study this morning via zoom. I will miss the last session of the fall next week and am a bit bummed about that.

Did my balance exercises.

Chilly and windy here. Have a bit of a sore throat so curled up on the couch now with a good book.

Manna-Hope the wild beasts don’t feast on your chickens.

Rained here all night & day. Hubby said there is water coming down the mountain.

At least if the wild beasts get these chickens - they are 3 or 4 years old. Not laying many eggs anymore and they just started breaking and eating the eggs! Grrr! Hoping the dog will scare the wild animals away.

Rearranged more kitchen cupboards today. The kettles, cookie sheets, cutting boards and the tea towels & dish cloth drawer.

Have a load of bread in the bread machine. Made some rolls last night. Had the last of them for supper tonight. They turned out very nice and fluffy! I added 1/2 cup oatmeal to the recipe, and an egg, and some leftover mashed potatoes.

Took a nap this afternoon.

This evening we sat around the table and played a game.

Had a storm here last night from the latest hurricane. Spent time outside in the wind picking up limbs and sticks, righting a rectangular flower pot, sweeping, etc. While outside wind blew another huge dead limb off one of the oak trees. I'm so glad I wasn't underneath because I was heading that way to pick up more debris.

AC guy was here again today. We need new duct work, emergency shut off switch, condensate pump and an up to code gas line. So we're doing that and then will save money for a new AC unit.

My sinus problem is caused from the AC. Water isn't draining properly and is backing up where the coils are.

Hiker hope you're not coming down with something! Get better soon! I can't imagine what you're going through with your Dad's eulogy. That has to be a hard thing to do. Hugs!

Manna love reading your posts about all the work you all are doing, especially the baaing goats! And Lord have mercy all that cooking and baking is making me hungry! I haven't been cooking since I'm not feeling well. We have a family dinner this Sunday and I'm cooking! Yikes! It's not a hard meal, just grilled steaks, baked potatoes, salad, corn and green beans. Think the hardest is the salad. Making a little salad bar so the young folks can put what they like in their bowls.

Off to watch TV. Have to get up at 6:00 since AC guys will be here at 7:15!

See everyone tomorrow!

Hi, everyone!!

We had a nice visit with family this week, but we were a bit bummed out by the rainy cold weather. We had hoped to take that golf cart tour I took my other brother on last month.

We would have frozen to death if we had gone. LOL. It was in the 40's and raining constantly.
Our creek was way up this morning.

Hiker .. I was only in my 40's when my dad died and I didn't even consider getting up to speak. Didn't do it at my mom's either. My husband, however, played organ for both funerals and took care of selecting the music and handling the soloist.

I was amazed when he played for his own dad's funeral too. He played an amazing clarinet solo (Mozart) as his dad's casket was brought into the church. We were in the balcony and I recorded the solo. (I was sitting behind him.)

Hiker .. I sure hope you can get your mom's phone straightened out soon. I would have had a heart attack too if I had gotten a call like that!

AK .. That is AWFUL about the AC unit. Be sure they clean it up really well. You don't need problems with mold. OH, how I HATE mold.

I'm glad the hurricane didn't finish you off!! YIKES!!

Manna .. I'm a night owl too. I stay up late because my husband gets up late. If I go to bed early, I will wake up at 6 and that is not going to be fun. So I'm usually in bed by midnight unless I find another show I want to watch. Then it's 1 a.m.

I got up early this morning when my brother and sister in law left. I started washing all the sheets, blankets, other clothes. I was just about done in by the time I left (noon) to go to the nearby city.

I had a doctor's appointment to have him check a small lesion on my face. It's very tiny, but it's bothersome. He told me to come back if anything else showed up since the last one was a basal cell carcinoma.

I'm not worried in the least .. I just want it OFF! I've been trying to ignore it now for 8-9 months.

I also did some shopping at Mardel before coming back home. I got home about 4. I'm pretty tired!!

Good night!

Tutu-Sorry the weather was lousy when your brother was here. Hope that biopsy of the spot on your face is normal. The biopsy of the spot on my foot came back normal but the biopsy spot is slow to heal. On my toe and shoe irritates it. I am keeping bandaid company going.🤣

AK—So glad the tree didn’t fall on you or your house. Bummer about AC repairs.

I did my knee exercises this morning.

Returned a casserole dish to a friend who made a delicious gluten free pasta dish for me. I still have several servings in the freezer along with a container of goulash. Yummy!

Laundered my sheets and put back on the bed. Added a wool blanket.

Went to library to drop off books and pick up a few.

Called my mom. Glad they got the phone fixed quickly.

Doing odds and ends chores in the house like putting new batteries in smoke alarms, watering potted plants etc.

Listened to our governor talk about covid. Skyrocketing here and our state had the most cases announced today since the start of the pandemic. People aren’t wearing masks and are gathering for indoor parties etc. ☹️

Time to sit and veg out for a bit.

Today the first of my saffron blossoms showed up! Four of them! I planted them a month late and they are blooming a month later than they normally would have.

Today it rained off and on and has gotten cooler. Hubby was out on the 4 wheeler a little and came back saying its rather chilly out there. It was in the lower 40's today and supposed to go down to 30 tonight.

Did several loads of wash today.

Cleared off and dusted the shelf in the entry way. Want to put several plants on the shelf to enjoy the morning sun. Brought almost all the tender plants in. Still have the norfolk pine and the corn palm outside.

Sonny went out and cleared more brush this morning. This evening he dragged the old chipper out and chipped up that woody stuff. Will make some nice mulch.

Still have several banana boxes of books to unpack. One bookshelf is missing the backer, so either we use a piece of paneling and make a backer or go searching again to see if we can find it.

Up at 5:15 dragging butt so made a pot of coffee and got ready. AC crew was here around 7:30-4:00. Had errands to run and Mom had a phone appointment with her GP. Crazy busy day!

TuTu glad you enjoyed your visit with your brother! Wish the weather cooperated. AC guys installed a pump to get the water out but not sure if they cleaned the coils. I think I'm going to buy an air purifier to put in my bedroom. I'm ozoning the heck out of the rooms now. Hope that'll work.

Hiker thank goodness your Mom's phone is up and running now! I bought some lentil pasta to try and hope it's better than rice pasta that comes out too mushy for my taste. Hard to find things to replace wheat.

Manna sounds like you all are getting settled in. I know you have a lot more work ahead of you so hang in there!

Well off to move the ozone machine into the dining room.

AK—Let me know how the lentil pasta tastes. My rice pasta usually cooks well, though.

Manna—After seeing all the chores from your move, I don’t think I will ever move again..🤣. You are making great progress.

I did my balance exercises.

Ran a load of laundry.

Cut back the rest of my hostas.

Taped and watched the Illini football game. Due to covid and injuries they were using their 4th string QB so bound to lose.

Took a nap. Still not feeling up to snuff.

Will not have my outside lights on tonight or open the door to trick or treaters. Feel bad about that but also want to avoid germs.

Time to think about dinner and then settle on the couch for the evening.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour. [Smile]

Daughter & I went to the bank and then did some grocery shopping. Got all the hard-to-find things for her cranberry salad for Thanksgiving dinner.

Then stopped at Dollar General and found the curtain rods I was looking for! Yes! She found cute little pumpkin salt & pepper shakers.

Did laundry - its all washed & dried, still need to fold it and put it away.

The boys & hubby were working outside this morning. Hubby slipped and twisted his knee. Ouch! He hasn't done that for 20 years.

The boys are still working at sorting out and re-stashing things properly in the sheds outside. Sonny chipped more of the small twigs and branches he had chopped down.

Measured the upstairs half bath for putting in a shower and 2 of the children went to Home Depot for supplies. Hopefully we can put that in next week. It will be nice with 2 full baths.

Have most of the boxes cleared out of the living room......... until more get carried in! I don't think I want to move again either, Hiker!

I agree. Moving is a bear!!! When we got here 6 years ago, my husband said he was not moving again. I hope he is right!

I didn't do a whole lot today, but I did go to three stores to get items and to return an item.

Rescued my friend at church because she had a flat tire. Also picked up the flowers for our altar that she was going to get. We have a confirmation tomorrow!

I also repotted my English ivy (it's a miniature). It stays outside in the winter. I should have repotted it a month ago.

I watered my morning glory. It has buds all over it that may never bloom. I need to cover it Monday night and then we will have several warm days again where it could bloom. Hoping it makes it another week!!

Today was warm and sunny .. high 60's. Perfect day to take the tour of the canyon we wanted to do when my brother was here.

So .. we have our clocks set. I'll be off to bed as soon as I get my last meds down.

Nite nite!

Busy day today! Up about 7:30 made coffee and got ready for the day. Started by baking refrigerated cookies and a Mrs. Smith's pumpkin pie. Did all the prep work for the salad bar, defrosted ribeyes and scrubbed baking potatoes.

Then took out all the dishes to use for tomorrow. Forgot the silverware!

Josh came over to help celebrate Halloween. We ordered pizzas and had coffee and cookies. Being a spooky holiday we watched another scary movie. It wasn't to bad so I shouldn't have any nightmares.

Hiker soon as I read your reminder I set the clocks back. Thank you! I'm not feeling great either. My sinuses are aching and my face is still puffy. I'm looking on Amazon for an air purifier. Ozoning didn't work since I'm still puffy. Drats!

Manna I'm impressed that you all can install your own shower! We're changing our Thanksgiving plans this year so it'll just be me, Mom and Josh. I bought a turkey in April when Covid ramped up and meat was scarce so I don't have to worry about buying one. We usually go to my brother's but Mom doesn't want to risk getting sick. His whole family already had Covid and they aren't as careful as we are.

TuTu I need to get outside too and finish cleaning the yard of smaller sticks from the hurricane. I've already put the larger limbs by the curb along with a large garbage can of sticks. I was planning on potting mums but I never got around to it. Our weather is kinda crazy, 60's some days and I think this week will be in the mid 70's. I can't figure out what to do yard wise.

Well...off to look on Amazon for a liquid lawn aerator and an air purifier.

[hi]
