Folks in the UK face the same level of haphazard media research, dropping the ball and not doing a proper job.

Well, such a disappointment in that they certainly did not do their homework. While some may say this is nice to see some acceptance of continued suffering and patient quotes.

However, I say that is bunk when they then quote ignorant doctors and leave it at that. They could have talked with some ILADS doctors, Alan McDonald or Eva Sapi, etc. They could have looked outside of the IDSA influenced NHS but, oh, no . . . that would be unthinkable.

There is so much more depth they have not even touched regarding various strains, various forms (cyst form being one key to chronic lyme and how antibiotics alone can cause the cyst form to gain a stronghold)

other tick-borne infections

combination / rotation / pulsing not even mentioned . . .

The controversy over the chronic form of Lyme disease

By Camila Ruz - BBC News Magazine - 21 October 2015

Lyme disease is increasing in the UK. But there is huge controversy over the existence of a chronic form of the disease that resists treatment. . . .

Perhaps this article represents a kind of knee jerk reaction to Billionaire Lyme victim John Cauldwell? Damage control to offset his publicity?

We knew they wouldn't just let his voice go unchallenged.

I suspect similar articles will appear in publications across the UK in the next few weeks and months.

I figured such would happen. And yes, it is in response to John Caudwell's tremendous publicizing of Lyme. The topic has been trending #1 in England!!

John Caudwell has the chops and the infrastructure to not just endure a pr siege, but to counter it.

He can attack the Lyme machine from many points, too.

It would be great if he got to meet Alan MacDonald. Seriously, he should at least be made aware of MacDonald's efforts, and their implications not just to the greater Lyme community, but specifically to his family.

Anyway, I hope Caudwell has people advising him that it's only going to get worse - because it is probably only going to get worse.

The idea would be to use those attacks as a springboard to getting rebutting pieces out in front of thousands and thousands of new readers. As Robin123 pointed out, this is a hot topic in the UK - and I'll bet in lots of neighboring Europe. We have a global audience fixated on the Lyme debacle!

John needs to get himself a good microscope and literally point every journalist and policy-maker to the persistent little creatures so they can see them with their own eyes.

I don't see how they could discredit him if he has positive lab-work in hand, a visual under the scope, and a good understanding of the science.

And yes, it would help immensely if he could get well acquainted with someone like MacDonald.

I wonder how many meetings Brooks will be pulled into when he come to the US next month.

I wouldn't be surprised if there might be a number of heavy hitters from mainstream Lyme in that audience who had no plans of attending before the Caudwell story broke. And if they don't attend, they might be in the vicinity nevertheless. [Smile]

Or Brooks' flight plans may have changed, and he has a couple new layovers...
