17 Year Cicadas- This is the year! Get out your ear plugs!
"The sound that they produce is extremely loud and it really is a wonder, a sight to see," he said.
"After the cicada nymphs complete their synchronized emergence above ground, they will develop into adults and begin the mating process.
They only stay there for about a month to a month and a half where they will reproduce and eventually die. After the new cicada nymphs hatch from their eggs, they will burrow back underground to begin another 17-year cycle.
Once underground, they will spend most of their time consuming juices from tree roots."

Hi <<<<< Tinny >>>>>,
Gotta check these links, but the Cicadas have invaded mine Wolfi-beary brain Ya know. Jus' for general info.
My tinnitus often sounds like cicadas buzzing/chirping, and has songs running thru it too [ MES Musical Ear Syndrome].
So I prolly wouldn't know anything new was happening...'less I stepped on them bugs.
Thanks for the links checking them now.

Edit in: watched the video, and checked out the other link. my 'Cicada sounds are higher, and don't stop, but we used to hear a form of these bugs in Oregon in the summers, all day long. with occasional crickets wandering thru.
Those in the video do sound really odd.

- Guess it means we all will need to keep our mouths shut as we zoom along on our long boards down the windy and hilly roads at dusk, eh?
Always thought that would be fun - when all cars off the streets, of course. -
