Some of the PMs I've received have disappeared from my Profile folder. They had info about LLMDs in them, so I'd really like to find them. Help!

Maybe you ran over your limit of how many can be stored in you PM box. I think it's 60(?). Check.
You need to periodically clear them out. I copy and paste the ones I want to keep into a Word document. I have a whole folder with lots
of pages of them. It's easy for your PM box to get filled up fast, and then people can't PM you (after they just wrote a whole reply).
But if that isn't it, PM either a forum leader or the webmaster. I forget where the webmaster is listed.

Could you have accidentally deleted them?
If you know who the messages were from, post the names. Perhaps those folks will send it to you again. That's easy to do if the message is still in their private mailbox.

No, just "incoming" and "sent" .. but someone new may not have scrolled down to see the "sent" messages.

Oh, okay.
Btw, my inbox/sent box can't count any more. It insists it's full when it reaches only 50 messages.

Oh goodie! I've been wanting to ask about the limits on PMs because I've been saving some old ones also. Is it 60 count TOTAL -- each separate response counting as a separate message?
Or is it 60 different topics each of which might contain several separate messages?
I've been worrying about this recently for fear that I need to create a way to save old PMs in a document stored on my own computer, but I've been procrastinating about doing so.

It is 60 threads. The system will total your "incoming" and your "sent" threads and show you the two totals. Add them together and they cannot exceed 60.
However, many of us have noticed that once you get to 50 or a lttle above 50 the system can tell you that your mailbox is full. This may be due to having some very long threads.
A thread can be up to 20 messages long. Then, the system won't allow you to add to it.
So, when you begin to near the limit, it may be time to save some of those messages onto your computer.

Tx Lyme Mom, you'll see a notification when you've reached the limit. Although you can continue to send messages, you won't be able to accept any.
Some tricks I've figured out: You can copy and save the url for a message, save it into a document, and later paste that into a browser to get the message again. Even if you've deleted it.
You can also bookmark the message, to find it again later. Of course, you would need to be logged into your account to see it. However, if both you and the other person involved in the message have deleted it from their account, this won't work any more.
If you're composing a message and send it only to get the notice that the other person's mailbox is full, you can still retrieve the message you composed by going back one page. Copy and save the text into a document so you can try sending it again later.
If you have 59 messages, sending the 60th one means that your mailbox is now full, and no one else can message you. So if you want to send and receive an answer, send the message and then delete it from your box. You can save the url or the text of the message, if you want, in case the other person doesn't respond.
When you are writing a response in a thread, be sure to click on "full reply form," and then check the Options box, Email Notification: emails sent to you whenever someone replies.
If you want to enlarge the box where you compose the message, just click and drag the lower right corner.

Thanks Guys (and Gals). This is all very helpful information for me -- and for everyone else, too. I'm so glad this topic came up.
I'm not very active at Lymenet on a regular basis anymore. That's why I was worried that if my mailbox were to get too full that I'd never know if someone from Lymenet had tried to contact me.
BTW, I'm co-moderating our TxLyme Yahoo forum now, but that's about the extent of my involvement with the Lyme community anymore, except for occasional visits to Lymenet in order to research questions that I can't answer for members with special needs in our Texas group.
Lymenet has improved tremendously in recent years during my long absence, thanks to the leadership of a great team of moderators since Lou B. retired over a decade ago. Lymenet had floundered for a little while after Lou B. had to quit due to serious health issues until this new team of moderators stepped up to the plate. Kudos. (Or is it spelled Kudoes?)
My thanks and appreciation go out to all of the moderators here at Lymenet -- and to all of Lymenet's valuable volunteer contributors, too. It's a Herculean task to make things run as smoothly as they do in a forum that is as large and active as Lymenet is.
I only wish that our state Lyme groups could afford better software, like what Lymenet offers, instead of having to use free Yahoo software. What a huge difference good software makes in the content and quality of discussions here at Lymenet.
Whoops. I'm off topic. Better quit.
