All I know is mangosteen has 43 xanthone compounds that scarf up free radicals. You could contact Pure Fruit Technologies and ask them further. They prepare the Mango-Xan juice version that I drink.

Even if one food may be high in oxalates, there may be other nutrients in that to bring it into balance. For instance, if it's got a good level of magnesium, etc.

Most antioxidants do have a broad range of properties and wide nutrient composition. As Robin mentions, they "scarf up free radicals"

These antioxidants that scarf up the free radicals / oxidative waste are so essential to our health to get the metabolic waste our of our bodies and protect our bodies from the damage the oxidation can do.

Antioxidants helps take the "free radical" oxidation load off the liver and kidneys, too, which is something that helps anyone with oxalate concerns as well.

I've done some searching today and - as you've found on Google, can't find what I'm looking for - and so many sites I've found on this search are flash, fluff or lay opinion. If you know a naturopathic doctor, they could likely answer this specifics about this.

There is a LL nutritionist in the Washington, DC area. You may be able to call and ask this question. detail below,

I cannot remember that name. You might call either Bastyr clinic location here and ask if there is an ND who can just answer one quick question.

Tahoma Clinic Dispensary have always good with such questions for me. Usually, the person who answers has adequate background or can direct me to answers.

Well, I had the name wrong but found her in my email history. I would start with her as she is very much LL and has various degrees. I've never talked with her so don't know how easy it would be to just call and ask this of her office staff.

I have followed her work for years and always wished I could work with her:

In June, she held this 3-day workshop: Nutrition and Herbs for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome

[with many thanks to Bea Siebert for bringing her to my awareness]

If master herbalist Stephen Buhner still takes email questions, he would be an excellent person to ask. It's like addressed somewhere in his works.

have read in the past that adequate magnesium level / supplementation can help to balance oxalates. I don't have my notes on that source, though. Still, it's good to know that:

http://foodfacts.mercola.com/mangosteen.html

What Are Mangosteens Good For? [Garcinia mangostana]

On Dr. Mercola's website

Excerpt:

. . . Healthy amounts of manganese and magnesium are also present,

and new research suggests that xanthones – a powerful antioxidant found almost exclusively in mangosteen – have properties that fight pain, allergies, infections, skin disorders, and fatigue while supporting intestinal health. . . .

How to Prevent and Treat Kidney Problems With Food

By Dr. Joseph Mercola - February 15, 2016

(just about 2/3 of the way down)

. . . Oxalate is found in some fruits and vegetables, but your liver produces most of your oxalate. If you are found to have oxalate stones, your physician may recommend avoiding oxalate-rich foods.

Also, make sure you’re getting enough magnesium, as magnesium helps prevent calcium from combining with oxalate to form stones. . . . .

Go to the "Trying Low Oxalates" FB group. They have the most reliable information. There are a few things that have not been tested, however.

Just my gut feeling says it's not that high.

If you find out more, please come back and post. I can't "do" Facebook so I'd love to know what they might say about this.
