is it just me , or does it hurt more when the person uses that tether type tube attachment called the butterfly (I think), than the regular no nonsense poke it in and go kind???
every person that has used this tube thing seems to go in slow and poke around and pull out slow and hurts so much more.
ugh my arms are so sore!!! and don't even get me started on missing a vien and blaming it on me!

I don't know. Hurts either way. They usually do the butterfly on me and yes, dig around.
The phlebotomist told me yesterday that I was her new nemesis.
Oh joy.

*hugs* Sorry. Ouch! I just got blood drawn yesterday too. They almost always have to use the butterfly on the back of my hands on me.
Yesterday they poked around, managed to draw 2 tiny vials of blood, then told me the vein blew as they were attempting a 3rd vial.
I don't like it when they miss veins and blame me either. I often get complaints that my veins "roll", my veins are "the size of a 5-year-old's", and that I bleed slow.
Hope the soreness goes away soon!

One phlebotomist told me that veins don't roll if you approach them correctly! Hmmm... so whose fault is it!? HA!

I know it's crazy but I ask if they have military service. those that have are the very best.
nurses run when they see me coming. I'm an impossible "stick". deep veins, rolling veins, excessive bleeding, and then add passing out.
oh yeah, they love me.

Years ago a certain lab person always went and got a colleague to take my blood when she saw me coming cuz my veins were evasive.
Since then I always try to drink lots of water before appt and not a problem now.
Maybe staying hydrated helps?
