Cures Act Bill Passes Senate- On Its Way to President for Signature

Original Post

Finally have a copy of the bill's wording people have been asking for all week.

The "may" words were changed to "shall". That's good.

For added protection, it has a sunset clause in the event something goes wrong. That's good too.

Otherwise, it is the same basic bill Pat Smith at the Lyme Disease Association, Inc has been working on since forever! She deserves a LOT of credit for her hard work and efforts.

The official printing of the bill with last minute changes has not been published yet- no telling how long that will take- but, here is a copy I've pieced together.

Feel free to share it with others. Next step is to get it thru the Senate.

BTW- It was attached to the 21st Century Cures Act's House Amendment to a Senate Amendment (or vise versa).

The Cures bill sucks so much it is scary. Big time!

I agree db!

No one, and I repeat no one, in the Lyme community has done more to advance our cause and help our patients and doctors as she has.

And the fact that she is a volunteer, and doesn't get a dime for all the grueling, never-ending work she does, shows her total dedication to our cause.

And if you MUST have a bill out there, which I do NOT recommend, she IS the one to get us the best deal. Always has been. No one can touch her or come close to her in that and many other fields.

Good job, Lyme team!!

So, is this a done deal at this point, if it's going to the prez for signature?

I had heard that there are parts of it that are scary and that reps wanted to filibuster on it. But that's only if the bill's in Congress.

Can't say it's a done deal exactly. Not till it is done. Looking good though.

The Lyme portion of the Cures Act is acceptable and should help us, depending on some choices made once it is enacted.

Otherwise, I think the Cures Act really sucks. We can't change it though. Too much $$, lobbyists and personal interests involved- like record breaking on this issue- and not enough time.

SO very sorry to say, our bill was shoved in that mess by some over zealous patients and we are skirting by on something I consider to be a piece of trash.

Our mothers wouldn't be proud of this move, and I'm not either.

Glory be.
