- Probably a good idea to do a search two ways:
1. at manufacturers' websites and, not stopping there but also consulting
2. a proper consumer protection organization's website
for all our appliances from time to time. Either appliance or the instruction book (or both) have the serial numbers, model numbers, and other details to search.
Even refrigerators have had recalls for tiny things that are easily corrected but left unattended could be a fire risk.
My Maytag fridge was in that category a few years back. Simple fix and company paid for someone to come out to replace the part. Even if a product is past normal coverage for service, if a part has problems, often that is covered by such recalls / fixes. -
