Tis the unofficial start of summer. Hope you are enjoying sunny skies.

I walked about 20 minutes this morning.

Drove the hour to my parents and cleaned out their retirement center garage. They gave up driving, so they will not need the garage anymore.

Came away with an electric tire pump, a tire gauge, and nice extension cord.

My brother left me 8 huge jigsaw puzzles when he came up last month. I will donate most of them to the retirement center as 1500 piece puzzles are hard to fit on my table at home.

Have a great week. [Smile]

Hi, hiker! Hope things are going OK with your parents today. Good job on the garage!

The rain stopped last night about 2:30. I swear the silence after about 6 straight hours of rain is what woke me up.

Found out that 3 people drowned here in a flash flood. That has never happened here before. The same area swept away a small truck last month, but no one was hurt.

Even the little creek down the hill overflowed its banks. I think it must have been over the bridge near the entrance. There was debris on the entrance and exit gates to our subdivision.

It's even scarier that we are expected to get more rain later in the week. We had about 5 inches last night.

I'm really exhausted today. Made it through church and all, just got up from a two hour nap. Will probably go to hubby's show tonight.

Hope everyone else is OK.

Sunday-Hiker thanks for starting the thread this week. Cleaning a garage is a big job, and getting a walk in to boot! Hope you have a great visit with your folks.

TuTu-My gosh, you guys are getting a ton of rain. Sorry for the loss of lives in your area. BTW, you might still be exhausted from your ordeal at the dentist.

Well gang I haven't done much today. Just made juice for me and Mom and put a few things away and watching a lot of TV.

Josh and my mom's BFF are coming tomorrow to grill hamburgers for Memorial Day. I'm not going to eat with them, am still fasting and will be my 6th day.

One really odd thing I've noticed since I started fasting is that my shoulder isn't hurting. Still get some pain but it's the lowest since before my 2nd shoulder surgery in 2003.

It's like a miracle!

Sure I'll notice other benefits down the road.

Oh, almost forgot, I've lost 8 pounds since Tuesday. Just a drop in the bucket!

See you all tomorrow!

[hi]

Sadly, the people who were killed in the flood were tourists. They were young people here for a HOOPS tournament.

Yes, I'm pretty sure my adrenals took a big hit from the tooth being pulled. Pretty sure that is why I'm so tired.

AK .. Do be careful of the oxalates .. hate to rag on it, but it sure ruined me. Hopefully, you are not juicing spinach or beets.

Big plus that your shoulder pain is less.. now to figure out why!

You might want to read about lectins. They can cause pain and I'm sure you are avoiding them with the juicing.

AK--no way could I fast like you are doing. I'd faint. The menu here tonight is hamburgers (which sadly have wheat in them) or bratwurst.

Tutu--How tragic that people drowned.

Lp--How are you? What are you up to?

Walked 25 minutes this morning. Such a lovely park around the retirement center. I love to watch the birds.

Helped mom put away winter clothes and blanket. She is sending my on all sorts of errands in the building which is fine, but really adds to my exercise. This is a large building.

I may take a nap this afternoon although I would like to take the car to the car wash.

Back later. Going to read a bit--new book by Richard Paul Evans.

Memorial Day-A special hello to all on this day of Remembrance.

TuTu-I'm doing some beets. I still make apple, carrot and beet juice for me and Mom then I do a second of red cabbage, parsley and cucumber just for me. First juice is delicious, second is not to pleasant.

I was wondering what could be linked to arthritic type pain....so you think it's lectins? That's the one I forgot about.

Hiker-This fast isn't easy but I've done them before. First time in the 70's was a 7 day fast and the others just a day or two here and there for health and spiritual reasons. I think the broth is helpful because I add pink salt to fight dizziness. I guess I'm fed up with being sick and tired and so overweight. Time for some drastic changes!

Sounds like you're having a wonderful time at your folks! Enjoy yourself!

BTW, no exercise but have lost 10 1/2 pounds!

See you all tomorrow!

Mom and Dad were up bright and early, so I dragged my carcass out of bed.

Walked about 30 minutes--70's and sunny here.

Have been doing odd jobs for my parents---a lot of them involved delivering items in the retirement center. This is a big place, so it adds to my exercise.

My poor mom. MRI showed an additional fracture in her sacrum. She will have to have an outpatient surgery where they inject a cement like material. Doesn't sound like fun.

Of course, we are waiting on a call to schedule the procedure and they could call today, tomorrow, or next week. I hate the big medical clinic. here. It's like they expect you to sit by the phone all day.

I have all my gadzillion medical appointments set up for the summer, but will cancel some if need be to take her to this surgery.

I head back to my home tomorrow, so I can see the neurologist on Th. Need to renew my seizure meds and have to see him at least once a year.

Back later, perhaps.

Ouch, hiker. I can't imagine them doing that as an outpatient, but maybe it means it's not that invasive?? Can't imagine.

Hope they call you soon.

No call, yet, Tutu, so probably not getting a call today.

It is a minimally invasive procedure done under light sedation. However, when you are almost 90 and scared, it becomes a big deal. As does transporting her there and through the big clinic.

Ran to the bank this afternoon and did a few more odds and ends for my parents. They really need to go through piles of papers and sort them, but they won't let me do that. Maybe when I come back.

Time to dress for dinner. The retirement center asks that you dress up a little bit, so I am least putting on nice pants and a blouse rather than t-shirt and jeans. Dangling copper earrings, too, and wearing a western style bolo.

Having some sort of shrimp tonight, I think. The alternative has gluten in it--chicken parmesan. Not sure why that has gluten in it, but here even the hamburgers have gluten. Always have ice cream with hot fudge for dessert! [Big Grin]

Lp--where are you?

I'm here. Having some troubles. Canceled bone scan today because I've been reacting I used to react to the chairs burning skin I feel like I'm breathing fire a friend and internet friend who knows about oxlips like Lyme to does

I'm talking this in because it hurts too much to type so it may look weird but anyway this friend saw the reason I was reacting like that was too much oxalates which is still new to me

it's a lot harder for me to learn what oxalates two stay away from because everyone is so different I guess it's a huge huge list and I can't even get it on my computer so I just have to go by what people say I've stopped the really bad ones

and I think I'm and butter for me is one but anyway this woman suggested I take more Benadryl so I'm really sleepy and I'm not getting much done and I did cancel that test today because I didn't want to get iodine in me or whatever they give me in the shot

well I'm still reacting tomorrow the man is supposed to start putting in the windows but there's rain so I don't know if he'll come or not it's only a small amount of rain

but I don't know but I've been pushing myself to have everything ready and it's not ready having it ready means me cleaning up from the yard sale a lot of it's in my house and it's a mess I'm still working on it

and I make progress and I do things everyday but I just am so weak after he does the first part of the siding I have to prioritize learning about oxalates and methylation

I really don't understand that I have to see if I can fix some of that I know Epsom salts bath help and I know all the histamine diet helps a lot but I'm really confused about the oxalates.

Also my right arm the bicep hurts so bad and it makes it really hard for me to type and the left shoulder is still pretty bad but I just let it hang my right bicep is huge and the left one you can't even feel muscle on it is crazy I don't know

I mean I'm hoping the front of the house and the five windows will be done this summer before winter and aside from that I'd like to get well enough to go see my grandson I think he's 9 months now I haven't seen them I haven't held them that's my goals and having the house a little more organized

I don't know I'm just so tired I'm just so weak I want to be here typing and talking with you guys I read what I do read what you say I just can't

I know it hurts so much to type I have to save my arms for getting dressed and I'm sorry hiker that it's hard for you it's I mean I know it's good that you're getting to see your mom and stuff but it's they really are getting holder

it must be hard for you I think it's really good they decided not to drive though it's so hard for so many people when the parents refuse to stop driving

and AK hey it came out right I never had much luck with juicing I need fiber or my everything shuts down I need a lot of fiber but not sugar or I keep the gluten low too

but yeah in fact I end up in the hospital when I did smoothies 10 days in the hospital from trying to be on smoothies so I can't really relate to that what you're going through

I just passed out that's what piker said right too too I hope you're feeling better little less pain now I don't know I'm yawning and I don't know I have so much more to do but I can't do it the way I am right now

this is different I've got to figure this out something's wrong oh guess what my scar from February 8th my knee scar opened up today just a tiny bit while I was washing it I thought there was a scab and I don't know what it was but the end of it opened up

so I don't know what that's all about but I have to call the doctor tomorrow about that that never happened to any of my scars and I've got a lot of them alright I'm going to go this is a lot of talking in this is going to look like a really funny post bye bye take care of yourselfs

Kayak .. I'm glad you canceled that test. You just don't need more chemicals right now.

I hope things settle down soon and you can enjoy life again.

-

I went to the city today for acupuncture. Came back and went to exercise. Did 35 min on the machine (I missed going last Thurs due to my tooth).. also 10 laps..

I had bad acid reflux last night and didn't get much sleep. I think it was from some new ice cream a friend of mine brought me. It's delicious .. but... Hope I can sleep tonight. I doubled up on my Nexium for today and maybe tomorrow.

Tuesday-Finally Free checking in tonight!

No exercise but I'm divorced, yay!

Good followup on surgery, yay!

Hiker-I'm glad they're getting the ball going on helping your Mom. I bet the procedure will help her tremendously with her pain. Praying for you all!

Kayak-OMG! Hang in there. Since fasting my shoulder isn't hurting very much so TuTu thinks it might be lectins in my case. Am in the perfect situation to see what causes a reaction. Bought a smoothie today that had dairy, peach and papaya and shoulder hurts a little not to mention it upset my stomach. That alone is shocking cause I have a cast iron one. Hopefully we can figure it out and get better.

TuTu-Do you think it was the dairy? It's hard to figure out what in the world to eat. I'm doing fine with the broths. Apple, beet and carrot juice I react to some. Cabbage, cucumber, parsley not at all. Herbal tea and honey is OK too so far. Josh teases me a lot about just living on air and water. He's not that far off!

Oh, and gang....did I mention that I'm DIVORCED!

[woohoo]

AK--Glad your divorce is final. New path in your life to explore. Glad you surgery follow up went well, too.

Clinic called mom after I left and said she needs a consultation before the procedure and the consult isn't until June 14.

I called them and they gave some mumbo jumbo about the P.A. had to determine if mom really needed this procedure. I told them to get the MD who is going to do the procedure there instead of a P.A. Sheesh, the spine doctor referred mom for this.

Then they wouldn't let me make a date for the actual procedure--said it would probably be several weeks after the consult. And mom has been dealing with this since early March. [cussing]

Took the country roads home--so beautiful out today. Have had a rip roaring headache all day. I think the pollen counts are very high. But I still have my windows open. Hate to turn on the AC when it is in the low 70's.

Stopped at lab to get blood tests for thyroid. This lab has recliner for weenies like me who hate to have their blood drawn. Even the lab tech said I was a tough draw.

I went mattress shopping and did settle on a mattress. Surprising, it is a memory foam mattress made by Serta. Should be delivered on Sunday. I suspect there might be some outgassing, but I think I will be ok.

Walked for 22 minutes and now I am totally bushed.

Hiker.. I just can't believe the hoops we the people now have to jump through just to get adequate medical care. Keep pushing them.

It's really very scary.

Wednesday-House cleaning day so for exercise I dusted, wiped down kitchen and bath and did floors. Not my usual super job but it'll do for Mom's company coming Friday-Sunday.

Also did some errands with Mom so had to buy an extra juice while out. Still fasting and hard when I have to go somewhere.

Also watered the lawn so I'm done.

Hiker-I can't believe what they're putting your Mom through. Sheesh by the time they see her she might not need the procedure. Hope and pray she's not in to much pain.

Kudos on the walking!

TuTu-Is there something going on with our medical system? I sure hope not!

Kayak-Hi! G!ad you checked in and feeling better. Hang in there!

See everyone tomorrow!

AK .. It's just that the insurance companies don't want to pay for anything... so they delay and delay if they can get away with it.

Well, gang. I have disturbing news.

I found a tick on me this evening. I've been in shock for the past 4 hours.

I got it off with tweezers and have it frozen in a baggie. I will probably get it tested. It's a Lone Star tick.

That's the only type of tick that has ever bitten me...so yes, you can get Lyme from it. I had two people tell me on the MCAS board that they don't carry Lyme. (It's all semantics.)

I finally had to amend my post to read:

WARNING: Do not try to tell me that you can't get Lyme from a Lone Star tick.

I'm off to bed.

Tutu---Did you go to the doctor and get some doxycycline? Lone Star ticks carry erhlichiosis big time as well as Lyme. Doxy or minocycline will take of both.

Wonder where you picked up the tick? I have always heard you have to be careful of flowers that you are planting as they may come with ticks on them. Saying prayers.

I did walk across ONE STEP of short clover and dirt. That was it.

I also picked up a pot plant and moved it to the front porch and vice versa.....but....the tick would have had to go down my shirt and then back UP under the shirt to my hip.

I don't think that was it....but maybe.

I found the tick about 3 hours after that and it was embedded, though not completely engorged. I have a red area around what looks like a mosquito bite. It's about one inch long and 1/2 wide.

It makes more sense that I got it the day before and that it simply crawled straight up from my shoe.

Ugh, Tutu--That's all I can say. [cussing]

Started the day at neurologist. Just routine. He was kind enough to answers some medications questions in regards to my mother and as I suspected someone of her age should not be on gabapentin and definitely not combined with Tramadol. Causes confusion and memory issues. And the elderly don't excrete it well, so it is hard on kidneys and liver.

Stopped by grocery and library on way home. I got some organic limeade and organic lemonade. Love that stuff. I know there is sugar in it, but so refreshing in the summer and it was on sale.

I had my thyroids blood tests yesterday and they were already back today. Nurse called and said TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 were all normal. I will look them up on the hospital portal to double check and ask for a hard copy when I go to the office. I love my ob/gyn office.

Went to my school district office to look at insurance plans. They have 3 tiers. Right now, because I am working I am on the best plan, but may move down a plan when I retire and have to pay more for the insurance.

Also said goodbye to a secretary who is retiring. She really helped me the year I took off work and made sure I got disability etc. She always answers my questions about retirement quickly.

You know how you can meet a person and see how God shines through them. Barb is one of those people and I will miss having contact with her.

Howard, my neighbor, helped me squirt WD40 into carpenter bee tunnel and stuff it with steel wool. I can't balance on the ladder and have hands free to do that kind of thing.

He also pulled down my trail bike for me and I pumped up the tires. I gave it a spin round the cul de sac, but realized I am really shaky on it. I need more strength in my legs and arms. I didn't ride it last year, but rode it a lot the year before, so I have regressed--knee issues.

Then went to chiropractor. Really needed the manipulation.

I think I will take the day off from other exercise to give the knee a rest. Need to suck down a lot of water after a chiro visit, too.

I am considering taking the summer off from the energy healer. I feel like I rely too much on her and not enough on God. Would appreciate prayers for this.

Tutu--saying a lot of prayers that this tick bite will amount to nothing. A lot of tick bites get the redness, but don't give you a disease.

Off to watch my Christian recorded broadcast. Yesterday's message was, "You may feel desperate or downtrodden, but you are not defeated."

Pretty exciting here ticks and ladders and D-I-V-O-R-C-E!!!!!

Hiker that is awful they have your mom on those meds. I am so hoping I cannsrsy out of nursing home cuz I watch ppl go downhill so fast and I really believe its the drugs. And once you are in I don't think you can refuse

Tutu...Idk What to say...I usually will get my hands on at least a few doxy esp if I pull off engorged tick. If you have doxy in your system before the bite I'm pretty sure the Ketes will die in the blood and not spread. But once they spread...well we all know about that. I know you have trouble with abc. Just don't know what to say

I've been freaking out lately cuz ppl are posting picsof tiny seed tics in mouth and ear etc. I keep feeling skin tags I can't see and have to stop myself from pulling them off

And A K. Party time girl. Go have some fun

Carpenter didn't show up

I dropped my phone and it smashed. On the phone with mobile 1.5 hrs

Did a little in the house and getting carport ready

But I really didn't do much. But I did lose 6-7 lbs. That's something. Esp if it stays off

Lp--Yeah ticked at MD's about my mom. But she is not in a nursing home. She lives with dad in a 2 bedroom apartment in the retirement center. A nursing home is attached, but except for dad's stay after hip replacement they have stayed out of it.

They take one meal a day in dining room, so they do cook 2 meals for themselves. Their sheets and towels go out to be laundered and their apartment is cleaned once every 2 weeks. Otherwise they are on their own.

lp--what kind of phone did you break? Can it be repaired. I have kept my landline for emergencies and so far I am glad. I also need it for DSL for internet. No wireless at my house, yet.

Going to bed early tonight. Haven't been sleeping well. I can sleep in tomorrow, so I hope that happens.

Thursday-Spent the day with Josh checking costs for a mausoleum for my sister's ashes. She's been gone almost 4 years and we decided to have a permanent home for her instead of scattering. Might be me and Josh paying so I need to get back to work.

Didn't do anything else today outside of juicing so no exercise.

TuTu-Oh no! I hope and pray you're OK. I know how frightened you must be! Do Doxy if you can.

Hiker-I like to bike ride too. Haven't ridden much since my bike vs. car accident, which I lost, but I sure enjoy it.

Hate to hear you're losing such a wonderful co-worker. You must have a special place in your heart for her.

Kayak-6-7 pounds is nothing to sneeze at. I can't seem to keep any weight off so hoping by fasting it'll heal my system. I'm going off my 10 day fast on Saturday. Have an out of town function to go to and will try to eat that day. Hope my digestion will kick in.

You know guys, since I'm fasting and tomorrow is my last day, I'm going to pray for us and our families. Haven't had a real heart to heart with God in years, so I'm way overdue.

You all mean a lot to me!

[group hug]

Ak--Hope your time of fasting and prayer revitalized your body and your soul.

lp--way to go on the weight loss.

Tutu--hope you are doing okay today.

Sunny and no wind!!! Having no wind rarely happens where I live.

I dragged the hoses out and watered flowers, veggies, and new trees. That took about an hour.

Went to the grocery store.

Sat on the deck and read and yakked on the phone to a dear friend.

Decided to go for a walk. Made it 20 minutes at a snail's pace. Didn't realize it was 86 outside and I bet after being outside a lot today my skin will be redder than Rudolph's nose.

Very toxic today, so legs feel heavy and am off balance, but it was such a nice day I just had to be outside and share the sunshine! [Cool]

I am doing OK, but began taking amoxicillin today. I may call my doctor MOnday and ask for doxy. Maybe I can take a few pills and be OK.

UGH...

I forgot to post my exercise yesterday. I did 36 min on the machine and 10 laps.

I'm going to go with our Bible study group to see the Laura Ingalls Wilder home and museum. I've wanted to go there ever since we moved here, but it's an hour or two away.

I'm disappointed that we won't be there long. Barely an hour or two, I think. But .. when someone offers to take me there .. [Smile]

Friday-Another day of juicing, making Mom's lunch, laundry and cleaning the kitchen.

Hiker-Just reading your post makes me want to jump back on the exercise wagon. I'm going back to the gym next week and can't wait. Have to be careful with my eyes for 6 weeks, no scrunching, sweating into eyes or raising my eyebrows until the muscles heal. Where are the terry cloth aerobics headbands when you need them?

TuTu-Kudos on the exercise! My sister loved Laura Ingalls Wilder. I don't know too many folks who didn't watch Little House.

Glad to hear you're taking antibiotics as a precaution. Hope every thing is OK.

By the way gang, had a wonderful talk with God today. Also broke out Corrie Ten Boom's book, Each New Day, that was given to me by my bff. June 2nd was about changing conditions........me reading that tonight wasn't a coincidence.

See you all tomorrow!

Don't you love it when God speaks to you, AK!? I hope you can make it to church this Sunday too. It would be a day of Thanksgiving!

Got up and did a bit of cooking while listening to Beth Moore. Her message was about overcoming fear. Second time I have heard a similar message this week. Hmm.

Walked 20 minutes and have been up and down the stairs numerous times doing laundry.

Opened the door to my deck and a very angry carpenter bee zoomed in. I chased her down and killed her.

After spraying her tunnel and stuffing in steel wool, she was not able to get back in and has been knocking up against the window in a tizzy. The females do sting, so I am glad I got her. Guess I can count that adrenaline rush as exercise. [Big Grin]

Still feeling really toxic, so am going to be lazy the rest of the day. Probably read and watch a sappy Hallmark movie.

Ak--Hope you enjoyed your festival today.

Tutu--Was today the day you went to Laura Ingall Wilder's house? I loved reading her books, but never watched the T.V. show.

EEK.. Glad you escaped the bee!!

We are going on Tuesday to the Wilder home. You really NEED to watch a few reruns, hiker. They are still on TV.

I found the books on my own in our local library in the late 50's or early 60's. I didn't even know the books were well-known. I read every single one of them and enjoyed them immensely.

When I went to college and was going through elementary education classes, I found out the Wilder Books were famous. True story!

I read several of the books to my classes every single year I taught. I made sure to read The Long Winter during winter so the Texas kids would ALMOST relate to how cold it was. No way would they have been able to relate to it in May or September! [Big Grin]

I managed to clean out my closet some. Working on my clothes. Too many things don't fit. Packed up a box of winter stuff and took about 12 things to consignment.

Saturday-Up about 7 and did my ab DVD. Then took my time getting ready to go to the 10th anniversary of the South GA Okinawan Club.

We had a great time enjoying all the cultural dances, taiko drum performances, karate demonstrations and FOOD!

Ugh....I ate way to much for my poor shrunken tummy. I'm gonna pay for it!

TuTu-I was very humbled. Was thinking of going to church too. Enjoyed your post about reading to the kids. I could just picture their eager faces as you opened a book.

Hiker-I used to go to war with carpenter bees at my old place. I thought I outsmarted them by painting all the exposed wood on the porches. They just went underneath. I'd hear them under there and I'd just grit my teeth.

As to the festival, I'm stuffed and tired!

See you all tomorrow!
