Sorting out the new AHA recommendations and where they've gone wrong.

American Heart Association Renders Itself Obsolete With 1960s Dietary Advice on Coconut Oil

By Dr. Joseph Mercola - July 05, 2017

Story at-a-glance

* According to the latest advisory from the American Heart Association (AHA), saturated fats such as butter and coconut oil should be avoided to cut your risk of heart disease

* Replacing saturated fats with polyunsaturated fats such as margarine and vegetable oil might cut heart disease risk by as much as 30 percent, about the same as statins, the AHA claims

* The AHA bases its outmoded conclusions on four studies dating back to the 1960s — studies shown to have problematic performance biases

There was seeming to be a lot of missing out there. Funny it would be coming from OUR government.

[lol]

Thanks for the article Keebler!

Well, the coconut industry is creeping up on dairy and vegetable oil industry profits!

I doubt eating coconut constantly is healthy for you. A bit here and there is not going to kill you.

I occasionally put it in smoothies, stir frys, in baking...I use it in a butter alternative.

I dont need a research study to tell me not to gobble fats down. I don't eat red meat so I'm not too worried about a bit of coconut oil here and there.
