I have been taking Levothyroxin (Synthroid) for decades (I don't have either thyroid gland. Right removed in '94 and left removed in '03). I just a report about France investigating Merck because of a change in the medication which is causing weight retention, diarrhea, and other symptoms.

Can't say if it is affecting me except my dietary doc is aware that it can inhibit weight loss.

I have no idea, TF. Most blogs are written very poorly. This one is not that bad compared to so many.

I think the bottom line is to TAKE IODINE.

Cytomel (a straight T3 pharmaceutical Rx) nearly killed me, too. That was before a time released version, though. Don't know if that made it any better.

It used to just drop me like a rock from an airplane mid-afternoon each day. I nearly did not survive. It was a daily medical crisis that doctors just put off to patient's "poor character" and just didn't even bother to listen.

Took a very long time to figure that out, after finding others with same experience just by chance at an inner ear support group.

Then, later, some writings that confirmed the problem with it.

What got me out of that mess, a natural T3 & T4. Similar to Armour Thyroid.
