For those with HYPERACUSIS, light sensitivity, etc. or any kinds of sensory matters regardless of the cause & who might be in MN . . . and others who might want to check out what is going on in this regard in your communities, you might connect with the autism community.

Some malls have, in recent years, scheduled sensory friendly SANTA CLAUSE visits, for instance.

Minnesota Orchestra announces new 'sensory-friendly' concerts for patrons with autism

By Terry Blain - Minneapolis Star Tribune - November 10, 2017

In recent years, Twin Cities arts organizations took the first steps to welcoming patrons on the autism spectrum. . . .

. . . Now Minnesota Orchestra has announced a similar initiative, designed especially for those with autism and other sensory sensitivities.

The orchestra will host a new Sensory-Friendly

Concerts series for its 2017-18 season, featuring three small recitals in the Target Atrium plus a full orchestra concert (July 14) led by assistant conductor Akiko Fujimoto.

Bangs and crashes will be eliminated for these concerts.

There will be no extremes in darkness or brightness, either.

Additional accommodations include fidget spinners, noise-canceling headphones, ear plugs and quiet spaces where families can retreat.

Minnesota is not the first American orchestra to offer sensory-friendly concerts. . . .

I must say, though, that I would need to be seated in a "fidget spinner FREE Zone" - I am in awe of anyone who does not spin to the floor when looking at those things.
