Looks like everyone has been posting this morning .. except AK .. Where are ya?
We made it to church just fine. I was a little apprehensive because we walked out to tiny snowflakes coming down. We live on top of a hill, so it's never a good thing if that road is slick.
The road was fine. There was one accident they were cleaning up on a bridge but the bridge seemed OK. It was a one-car thing.
We got a gift card at church so we went to a nice restaurant. I had my usual salad. It was pretty good .. a few problems, but whatever.
Had to make a quick run to Wal Mart .. What a zoo. They were closing at 6 and this was about 1:30, so it was pretty busy. The parking lot was the worst part. I just needed a few things before leaving town on Tuesday.
So .. I'm off for quick nap.
Take care of yourself, kayak, and get over that headache, hiker! That dryness is about to kill me over here. Sjogren's and winter is never a good mix.

Christmas Eve-Made it to the 11:00 service and was so glad I did. They had communion which I hadn't participated in in a long time. Fantastic singing and sermon. Put me in the right frame of mind.
Home and busy with all the holiday preparations.
Hiker-Nine inches of snow! Please be careful. Enjoy yourself tonight!
TuTu-Thanks for getting us started this week. I know you have so much to do. I went to the grocery store to pick up extra wings and a small dessert and it was a nightmare! Be safe!
Kayak-Hope you and Etta have a wonderful Christmas Eve all snuggly warm and with electricity. Later I'd like to watch a Christmas themed movie.
Love you all!

Tutu and AK--glad you could make it to church. I admit that I didn't even try with all this snow.
I did ride the exercise bike here at the retirement home. Just for 10 minutes. Then I immediately wiped out its effect by having a cafe latte.
There is a machine here that dispenses various coffee drinks or you can have a hot chocolate. And it is right by the exercise room.
Snacks tonight will include smoked oysters, cheese and gluten free crackers, fruit, dates etc. Probably a glass of wine, too.
I may go down to the lounge after that for Christmas carols if I can cajole mom into going.
Happy Christmas Eve!
later; helped set up chairs for elderly folks to sit to sing Christmas carols and joined them. Fun!

Glad you were able to get to church and enjoyed it, AK!
Hiker .. woo hoo on the Christmas carols! Our whole service was singing Christmas carols yesterday morning...with a short sermon.
Last night went very well. I had to play "usher" too since no one was ready to dim the lights when the kids came in with their nativity and then at Silent Night candle time. Whatever works!
Hubby did a great job with the special music and our choir outdid themselves.
A little chuckle: Our 12 yr kid (the one we teach each Sunday morning) decided to dip his wafer in the wine instead of the grape juice. I think I was the only one who saw it and I wanted to bust out laughing! He has not had confirmation yet, so no wine for him!
I plan to go get lunch for us later...if that doesn't work, we'll eat out. Neither of us is really wanting to do that, however!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

It is a winter wonderland here. Looks like 8 inches to me but not sure. 8-14 forcast. Then winds and below zero temps and that equals blizzard tonight. I think I am prepared. I'm keeping house extra warm in case. Worst thing is frozen pipes in slab or tree on house.
Churches were all canceled so 2 neighbors put together a last Minute dinner. The couple that takes care of me and gets groceries and next to them elderly couple...he used to be a pastor. I like them a lot. I felt so good last night I surprised them by saying yes...but I woke up feeling yucky and at 11 told them I couldn't make it. I think they are sending a plate and I doubt I can eat any of it. I was going to eat a tiny bit of everything if I went...but don't dare now
Oh well. (That's the same as tutu s whatever)
I got 2 nice texts from kids and replied. I keep phone off a lot now tho so I stay focused on impt stuff.
Hope you all have good safe day. Talk later

Got up early to help an elderly friend get the ice off her car so she could go to church this morning. Then worked on my own car in the parking lot. Lot was like an ice rink.
Not going to get out of single digits later this week, but the snow is pretty.
Had a marvelous lunch with tossed salad, prime rib, wild rice, and asparagus (The hot fudge sundae doesn't count, does it, since it is Christmas?).
Rode exercise bike for 12 minutes.
Going to take a short nap and then help mom get the snacks for dinner--shrimp, cheese, dates etc. and our usual Christmas champagne.

Enjoy the snow .. just stay safe, you two!!
Sorry you couldn't go to the neighbor's, kayak. I found food for us today, but it took three tries.
We will come home to zero food in this house this Saturday. We may have to drive 16-17 hours straight on Friday because the weather is going to be really cold on Saturday here....That's OK as long as it doesn't snow or ice. They aren't sure yet, so I'll keep checking on it.
Got all the clothes washed and I'm pretty much packed. Mainly, I just have to throw everything in my bathroom into the suitcase in the morning! The weather will be all over the place since we are going way south.
It will be in the 50's for a high on Thursday for the funeral, so that's OK. I have a few outfits to take. Still don't know which one to wear for the funeral, but at least no one will be looking at ME!
Guess what? I finished the Christmas cards! I think I sent out 85 .. so I did a good job of finishing them up today! I did 25 yesterday and about 25 today.
I'm off to bed .. AK posted a cute pic of her family. They looked like they were all having a great time!
Merry Christmas!

Christmas eve the pain I had for 6 weeks stopped. I had found 5 days of Amox that was less than a yr old and started it. Half way thru day 4 the pain stopped. It has stayed away for 3 days. That's what I asked for at hosp. That's what made me better last time. They refused. There is something wrong with this system
I'm glad every ones hol7day went well. Hope tutu s trips go well. And hiker gets a little rest
On Christmas eve day I attacked the back room. I found some moldy papers and 3 things that had the burning toxin from the chair on them. I got them bagged and to carport. I should just throw them away but might sell them. If you are not MCS they don't bother you
I also found my leather riding boots and should sell them
I consolidated 8 totes of stuff I dragged out the back door and stacked and put a tarp on....well I started Christmas eve...did some on Christmas and put them out today
Still a lot to do but there is more space
Today oldest son called and set up for him and youngest son to come here thurs Fri and sat
Then they will head down to where the other kid's are...where I was supposed to go for Christmas. And they will have some time together. I hope someone takes pics of them all together
They will clean up my computer for me when they are here and do a few things. I have an organic pot roast and carrots onions and celery...and I can make biscuits...and they will wasn't mashed potatoes...that's one meal. Maybe 2. The rest they will have to get for themselves
I can't believe how much I got done today. 3rd day after pain went away. After getting the totes out I raked 8 inches snow off vinyl garage and all the edges of house too then I had to push that snow out of the way. And put trash and recycling to the curb
I also caught up laundry..by hand...there was quite a lot. I thought I would collapse in bed at 8...but I didn't. Couldn't get to sleep. Gave up at 1015. Got up and took an xtra hydroxyzine and am just noticed I was accepted to buhner fb group. So I will go there now and see what he suggests for diverticulitis.
See ya. Stay warm. And away from flu bugs.

Tuesday-I'm beat from the hustle and bustle of the holidays! I ate everything in sight and noticed some alarming symptoms. Darn MCAD! I don't know which food was the culprit but my heart felt like it was pounding, had anxiety and hives on my right hand.
Read everyone's post and looks like we all had a wonderful Christmas.
Went to an interment and wake so I've been gone almost all day. Tomorrow one of my nieces is turning 13 so we're supposed to go see 'The Greatest Showman".
Wish I could just lounge around one day!
See everyone tomorrow!

Came back from my folks. Went to library and to bank.
Drove past grocery store and lot was a sheet of ice, so I didn't stop. Need to go get my prescriptiom this week, though, so will have to brave the ice. It isn't melting any time soon.
Odd and ends around the house this afternoon.
Relaxing tonight.

Thursday-My brother's family all had the stomach flu so no movies and maybe going over tomorrow with Mom to give birthday gifts.
Just went to the commissary and Josh is coming over for leftovers tonight so a nice relaxing day. Yay!
Hiker-Glad you're home safe and sound. Don't blame you a bit for skipping the pond of ice at the grocery store. I used to wear rubber creepers over my shoes when I lived in AK. Have had my share of slips and falls on ice. I don't miss the ice at all!
Kayak-Thanks for letting us know how TuTu is doing trip wise. I know you're excited that family is coming. BTW, neat that you met Just Don of FB. Glad to hear he's still around. I thought the worst had happened.
Well, gang, back to shopping on the internet. Josh got me an Amazon gift card and Mom gave me cash so looking for some shoes and what not.
Have a great night everyone!

Fairly lazy day. Slept in and it felt heavenly.
Rode exercise bike 12 minutes.
Cleaned out some more teaching files. Need to go to recycling at some point, but too much ice right now.
Went to grocery store. Got a good parking space with no ice. Came out and it was and still is snowing like crazy. Winter is definitely here to stay.
Wrote a few snail mail letters. I like to get them, so I write them.
Ak--stay away from the stomach flu. Internet shopping can be fun, but for me I tend to buy more items than I would at a store. Hope you find some things you like.
Lp--Let us know how the family visit goes. I can't remember how long they are staying. Put those kids to work!

Hi. 2 boys are here. Oldest and youngest. I worked so hard last 3 days I'm exhausted. I didn't get last 2 rooms totally done but much better than before
I made a pot roast and I guess it was good cuz 2 hours later one filled his plate again and the other had a biscuit
The best part for me is seeing and hearing them interact
The younger one is the one that has been having troubles for awhile and without talking about It I can tell he's doing better. He has a very interesting job...not in his field...but still pretty cool. He makes props for movies and tv shows
He mentioned a bunch of shows but blacklist is only one I can remember. He has a room of 3 d computers. He makes the things that have never been made before so he has to create them
We visited tonight. We have a long list of chores for tomorrow. Very cold. But not as bad as I thought it would be

lp-Pot roast sounds great.
Went to rec center this morning for orientation on fitness machines. Then walked 20 minutes as all exercise machines were in use.
Stopped at library to stock up on books. Snow and bone chilling temps through Tuesday.
A friend from out of town stopped by on her way to another town to watch her daughter play basketball. Short visit as she needed to get on the road due to snowy conditions, but great to see her.
I may go out this evening to start cleaning off drive if snow lessens in intensity. Minus 30 windchills tomorrow.
Took a short nap this afternoon.

That's cold hiker. We were supposed to go to minus 21 last night but only made it to minus 15 The boys helped a lot...and we talked ALOT. these 2 are intellectuals and I really enjoy the conversations with them. We don't always totally agree but our basic beliefs are pretty close
We are really sort of 3 different generations too. 35 50 and 68. So its interesting
And getting stuff done and talking has been great
So I showered and I'm in my room. With air cleaner on high. I think I 'll feel better in morning but I have so much contaminated bedding ...it reminds me of the red Chair that contaminated my quilts and my washer and then my washing machine
We aren't fighting. Its just sad. If you dont have this problem you just dont understand.
So a k I guess you are getting into party mode
And tutu. This is not a fun week. I hope you do what you need to do and get home safely

I went out at 7 and spent an hour clearing the driveway of snow. Then the snowplow came by and I spent another 30 minutes clearing what they dumped in front of the drive.

Friday-Not much going on today. Went out to dinner with Mom and Josh. Afterwards we drove to the Tavern pub to pick up tickets for New Year's. I bought 2, one for myself and friend and Josh bought one. We're doing just the glass of champagne at midnight followed by the breakfast buffet.
Gonna have to dust off my dance moves! LOL!
Hiker-Found some Doc Martens on Amazon, kinda pointy toed oxfords that should last quite a while. That -30 windchill brings back some memories. Hope you don't get to sore from all the shoveling!
Kayak-So glad to hear some of your kids are there helping you out. Hope the sensitivity issue subsides. I've been itching and having the pounding heart issue from all the foods I shouldn't be eating. Take care!
See everyone tomorrow!

AK--I can guarantee I won't make it to midnight on New Year's Eve. Get on those dancing, shoes, gal!
lp--I bet the scent from the clothes washes out of the bedding pretty easily. And it will dissipate from Etta and your furniture pretty quickly, too. Glad you got to see the boys!
Got up early and swept the snow that fell last night off the porch, sidewalk and drive and then went back to bed for another hour.
Cooked this morning. Wanted to make chili but didn't have the beans I needed, so made spaghetti sauce, instead.
Ventured out this afternoon to the dollar store to get some snacks for New Year's Eve. Forgot my wallet and I don't feel like venturing back out in the cold and ice.
Forgot I took wallet out of coat pocket when I shoveled, so I wouldn't lose it. Oh well, I guess I didn't need chips and chocolate, anyway.
Am sitting down to watch some college football bowl games. Having a cup of dark chocolate hot chocolate and mixing in part of a peppermint stick. Yum.

Hiker I can relate to shoveling and then having plow come by
The boys did more this morning and left at about 11. I know one got to his destination by 3. He's staying with the son with the 2 babies. He took presents for them
As soon as they left I bagged up all the linen they used and covered the chair in plastic. Then I moved some totes around outside so I could close covers On the 2 new rubbermaid storage containers they put to get her for me
And then I just did load after load of laundry. I'm rinsing them eachb4 times but I'm still feelingbburning so I'm just piling them in hall. I will have to take a detox bath every other day and hope the burning stops soon
I need to start my babs and Lyme herbs from naturopath soon.
Right now I'm exhausted and ready to cuddle down. Its going to minus 20 I think. So glad all my heaters are working and pipes ok

Yes, he did, AK! His family was blessed to have had him!
kayak .. Please don't begin treatment until things settle down. Can you take baking soda to help? or charcoal? (I react to baking soda, just asking because it can help some people)
Try using baking soda on the furniture or anything else they came in contact with.
My gut is still on the blink since the stomach flu hit us two weeks ago. I got a bit anxious going through Dallas yesterday and we had to stop for my tummy.
People were driving stupid. It was south of Dallas before the lanes hit 3 instead of two. They are still working on the three lanes. Once we got past Dallas, everything was smooth sailing.
Hubby was just trucking on. I told him he was in "Beast Mode" .. then I had to explain it to him. LOL .. The weather was fine, just cold.
It will be really cold the next few nights, but at least they took out the negative degrees in the forecast. I have not stepped outside all day. I hope hubby is surviving.
He got plenty of sleep, but had to go to rehearsal today. He left around 12:30 this afternoon and is still working. It's 9 pm! Poor guy will be so exhausted when it comes time for early church tomorrow. I just pray he's not totally aggravated today. It can be hard working with some people. Very stressful.
Then he'll get a nap . . I hope. Then will probably leave for the theater around 5 pm or so. I hope they won't have to rehearse earlier than that. We may have to drive in two cars.
Happy New Year everyone!

OH .. PS .. My Winter Texan friends came to the funeral. It was so sweet of them, it made me tear up. I just happened to be right by the front door when they came in.
This is my friend whose dad was in WWII with my dad. We've been friends since I was about 2 years old! Our families used to camp together and tour Texas and Minnesota, our respective home states.
They have gone to dinner with my in-laws for quite a few years now.. every winter when they are in Rockport. They had lunch with my father in law last winter also. This January we will meet up and have lunch, but without my father in law. It will be kinda sad.
My husband did every bit of the music for the funeral. He did an amazing job. I do have a tape of him playing piano and his clarinet solo when his dad was brought into the sanctuary. It was very emotional and I don't see how he did it .. but it's something he's done for years. He played for my mom and dad's funerals, as well as his mother's.
He played piano, flute, clarinet and pipe organ .. wow... Our niece sang the Lord's Prayer. She was trained at the Conservatory in San Francisco. It was really wonderful. She lost both of her grandfathers within one week.
Her mom's father died (same town as FIL) about 4 days before my FIL died. So she got to see my FIL when she was there for the first funeral. She sang Ava Maria for my FIL when they went to see him. He died that night!
Also .. my husband's high school band director lost his wife on Christmas Eve, so her Rosary was the night of my FIL's funeral. We stopped by to pay our respects that evening.
When we walked in, we met two people who had been at my FIL's funeral. We told them we were "funeral hopping." Bad, huh?! Anyway, this band director pretty much shaped my husband's life/career.
He was a powerful force in the world of band in Texas. Everyone knows his name. So we had to pay our respects to his sweet wife.
