It reminds me of the "Rebel With a Cause" work by Dr. Ed Masters. He tracked Lyme in the rural south of MO, and wrote with Pamela Weintraub.
He died right after I was bitten, in nearby Mountain Grove, and had called his office to see if I could get treatment while staying with my mom. This is how I learned that he was ill. He took on the CDC and exposed their lies about the south.
I learned of his work at such a critical juncture, that it stayed with me. He was a doctor who truly touched my heart.
His work is amazing, and now I will add this article to my research info files. I have been hearing more and more about people doing their own microscopic diagnosis. Fascinating.
Your link to the Journal of Clinical Microbiology 1993 PROVES people are still infected, after accepted treatment. Only in a medical culture of greed and corruption would this be ignored. We never do give up, though, so hope survives.
