Hope and pray that you'll get some answers soon MD. I don't know if it's flu related but lots of folks have been getting that nasty bugger.

- Hope the GI doctor has some good counsel for you and that you turn the corner soon. Off the top of my head, if does not interfere with any Rx you might be taking:
Coconut is said to help curtail loose bowels. Carob root powder, too.
probiotics
Be sure to banish all things fluffy around you that is not a living creature. Bath mats, for instance (cork is best) . . . velour or fleece throws (wash well but still, they shed tiny fibers that we don't even notice like crazy and i think can damage the lungs).
The fine particles that even corduroy sheds can be very rough on any lungs. Be very mindful of particulate matter even in the house.
What is your herbal defense? Some choices that help me:
What is DGL - and why should I be concerned about GL?
Excerpt:
. . . Zagarese licorice comes from a species (glycyrrhiza glabra) grown in the southern part of Italy. Its natural glycyrrhizin content is only about 5%, so there is no need to deglycyrrhizinate it.
The Zagarese company has been producing pure licorice extract as its sole product since 1886, using only organic methods of cultivation. . . . -

- Delicious with coconut oil, too. Bob's Red Mill makes a nice Toasted Carob Root Powder
The carob tree, or Ceratonia siliqua, has fruit that looks like a dark brown pea pod, which carries pulp and seeds. Carob is a sweet and healthy substitute for chocolate.
Using it for health benefits goes back 4,000 years to ancient Greece. According to the “Encyclopedia of Healing Foods,” 19th-century British chemists sold carob pods to singers. Chewing on carob pods helped singers maintain healthy vocal cords and soothe and cleanse their throat. . . .
. . . Carob gum
Carob is in many skin care products and medications. It’s usually labeled as C. siliqua, which is the scientific name for carob gum. The gum comes from the seeds, which are 35 percent gum. . . .
. . . Carob for digestive issues
You may want to look into eating carob if you have digestive issues. Carob’s tannins, which are dietary compounds found in plants, are different from regular plant tannins.
Regular plant tannins dissolve in water and prevent digestion, but carob’s tannins don’t. Rather, they have a drying effect on the digestive tract that helps tackle toxins and prevent harmful bacterial growth in the intestines.
The natural sugars in carob also help thicken loose stool.
Research suggests carob bean juice can be a safe and effective way to treat diarrhea in young children and adults. Check with your doctor before taking carob as a supplement. . . . . . . -

Is it just me, or do other people find that using all the supplements advised would be terribly expensive? And prices are going up a lot.
Anyone tried buying COQ10 lately? Once it was published that it was helpful for people who had side effects from statins used to lower cholesterol, the price just skyrocketed!
Maddog, I do hope you get the help you need from your doctors. Please let us know how you are doing. woof?

MADDOG...i do know my son and wife had similar symptoms as you...no fever but tested positive for flu strain A their doc said it is common with that strain to not have fever...this year anyway. its an odd thing docs are seeing this year
i started wiht a lot of those symptoms 10 days ago...it got worse a week ago...no diarhea or vomiting but nausea
i still have all sx im taking tons of stuff like d3, l lysine, elderberry...no antibiotics ...
im also on a steroid eye drop for serious eye infection i think i got from moldy papers....but doc says its only allergy...still i cant see its so blurry...idk if that kind of steroid could affect my immune system and allow me to get flu
so im rambling...just giving you a few ideas esp about a flu without a fever..thats kinda wierd
when i get bronchitis...usually from mold exposure(i have a history)...i end up with respiratoy sx for 6 weeks even tho i am on 10 meds every time so it could be a respiratory thing...
i have other gi problems and am not normal that way so my gi stuff doesnt seem relevant
i hope they get to the bottom of it i used to freak when i was taht sick for so long...but when i started the pattern of 6 weeks of bronchitis i just relax about it and do the things that make me better sometimes body takes awhile to fight it off
take care friend.

Maddog, I had that flu for 2 weeks and then afterwards realized that it had awakened some other virus that apparently had been in hiding in my body.
Still trying to figure out what this new awakening is?????? ggrrrrr!
I hope you are doing better.

Found this from Jan 2017 "But according to a study by researchers from University of New South Wales in Australia, The Beijing Centre for Disease Prevention and Control in China, The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Vietnam, and Arizona State University, > 75% of adults with a viral respiratory infection (including influenza) do not have fever."
