- My eyes saw no mention of lyme, babesia, or other TBD yet ehrlichiosis is front and center. Treatment time would not match up with ILADS, yet, she got early treatment and the dose was probably also helpful for lyme, which surely also had to be on board.
Article did not state yet she should be cautioned to be alert in future if symptoms recur.

And they're pretty easy to avoid.
For two weeks last summer, Slone, a librarian from Waverly, Ohio, languished in the hospital as doctors struggled to get her fever down from over 104 degrees. She developed meningitis.
Her liver was suffering. She became septic, an infection raging through her bloodstream. She needed three blood transfusions.
Slone had ehrlichiosis, a bacterial infection from a tick bite. . . .

- When I hear "easy to prevent" it's kind of the same thing as blaming those who get lyme: "it's their own fault (could have been easily prevented)". It's not so simple. -

Even Inside Edition had a blurb on tick paralysis last night featuring a little girl.
The MD said ticks are easily missed and to make sure you run your hand over your child's body and scalp to feel for bumps after they have played outside.

Until recently I had the attitude (and ignorance) that the "dog tick" doesn't carry anything harmful besides rocky mountain spotted fever. Then my dog tested positive for ehrlichiosis and I learned otherwise.
