Someone should write him a letter for sure! He is a walking disaster!
QUOTE- "Dr. Dirk Haselow, the state's Epidemiologist said blood banks don't test patients for Lyme disease before they donate.
"It would be inappropriately costly to test everybody for Lyme disease who has given blood because the likelihood of coming across a positive sample would be very very low,” he said.
He explained that Lyme disease works a lot like strep -- you're only contagious for a short amount of time, though you may have to take medication for several days.
"The likelihood of getting Lyme disease from a blood product is very low," he said.
This isn't the first time Mears and the state have disagreed. She says she contracted Lyme disease four years ago, yet the state won't recognize her as a confirmed case."

Completely irresponsible .. I'm putting it nicely!!!
Even testing the blood doesn't help a whole lot since the tests are so lousy!!
PS .. He said it would be too expensive to test the blood.

I often wonder if I should donate my organs????? I mean would you rather have a dead child or one that may live another few years but be sick? IDK.... not saying I would, but the questions pops in my head.

I used to get phebotomies at NIH for hemochromatosis study. When I found out I had lyme, I told them I could not participate anymore. They said to continue as they would throw away my blood.
When I got down there head of study must have talked to the evil side of NIH and she said she was not going to throw out blood as we agreed. I got an hour long lecture from her about lyme and was told at the end to see a good rheumotologist.
The blood they collect there is used for all the sick people at NIH.

I think I will donate my body to science or to the local medical school when I pass.
No way will I be an organ donor or ever donate blood.
Before Lyme I tried to donate blood and it was impossible to get enough out of me. Red Cross told me not to come back---LOL
