Had a lovely Sunday. Listened to church.

Took a nap this afternoon. Then went out to see what all is growing. Discovered I missed covering a row of peas in the garden.

Found 2 peach trees in the one shed that were never planted last fall. They have leaves and look very nice! Very surprised they survived with that kind of neglect!

Startled a bird, who startled me, in the shed. She has a nest in some things setting on a table. I hope the cats don't find her nest.

Roasted hot dogs and s'mores over a fire this evening. Very pleasant except for the smoke in our eyes sometimes!

Decided we need to make our area bigger so we can get around each others chairs easily. It will be too cramped to have any more people at one time.

Saw several more Moon flowers are up!

Sounds nice on both accounts, hiker and Manna!

I took a nice nap and just finished planting all of the plants except for three. I need to buy one more pot. (Like I NEED one .. LOL!)

My balcony is shaping up!

Thanks TuTu for getting us up and running for the week! Bet your balcony is going to look awesome this year!

Manna my moonflowers haven't made an appearance yet. Something dug up one of my biodegradable pots that had a couple of bitter melon seeds in it. Also one of the other one's stem was broken. Also noticed holes in my potted plants and straw with the grass seeds underneath. We have lots of squirrels and I'm wondering if they're the culprits!

Hiker my library is having a sidewalk sale sometime this month and I'm planning on going to browse and probably buy more books. I think our library is open now too so I might have to venture back in there.

Let's see....today I cleaned the bathroom and made spaghetti sauce, brown rice egg noodles and broccoli with pesto. Josh came by for dinner and we had a great time. Me, Mom and Josh actually sat outside and Josh cut down a cable hanging off the front of the house while I watered things outside. Mom sat and 'supervised' and petted Ada.

Feeling better and getting used to my new medicine.

We have rain heading our way so my outdoor chores might have to be postponed. Yay!

Hope everyone has an awesome week!

Tutu--I bet your balcony is lovely with all the potted plants.

Manna-An outdoor fire sound wonderful.

Ak--Glad the new med seems to be okay for you.

I did my knee exercises this morning.

Dropped off my now too small clothing items to the thrift shop.

My new pants from L.L. Bean came today. I have a pair in blue and so I bought a pair in ash color and of course they don’t fit even though they’re the same size. So, I went to the UPS drop off box and I’m sending them back. No free returns anymore.

Went to the recycling center.

Spent several hours working on Bible study and still have several more to do.

Washed my sheets and put them back on the bed.

Did some spot cleaning here and there.

The expected rain for today hasn't arrived, yet. Hopefully the predicted severe weather will pass us by.

Time to take the garbage can to the curb.

Baking day. Have it all sliced and bagged except the 6 loaves of whole wheat bread. It was still too warm.

We had rain off and on today. On a few occasions the sun peeked through. Currently, its shining again.

Got some of the washing done with my daughters help.

Want to go up to my sewing room after my bread is ready to go.

Should go check on the greenhouse to be sure nothing has dried up. I was surprised by all the moonflowers that are popping up now that they are in the greenhouse. Maybe they need warmer temps to germinate. This is the first time I'm growing them from seed intentionally.

Raining here today so I wiped down my Mom's car in the carport. It was still covered in pollen and had a ton of bugs on the front and side mirrors. All clean except I noticed she has a lot of tar on the bottom of the car. Will have to buy a stronger tar remover than the one I used today. Mine didn't work at all.

Afterwards ran a couple of errands and then have been home enjoying my down time.

Hiker I'm taking my garbage out in the morning since it's still raining. I also gained some weight since January and all the work I'm doing in the yard isn't helping. Seems like I'm super hungry on the days that I'm outside for hours. You'd think I'd be losing weight but that's not the case. Hoping to take the extra pounds off once I'm done with all the yard work.

Manna I'm hoping with all the rain we're getting that maybe I'll see some flowers coming up too! I've noticed some new grass coming up from the seeds I planted so I'm hopeful that things will work out OK.

Well, it's after 1:00 in the morning so I'm heading for bed. See everyone tomorrow!

Went to Bible study at church this morning. It's still raining...That all started late last night as I was going to bed.

I asked the Lord to keep me safe, because I was going to SLEEP!!

I noticed this morning that a tree at the entrance to our place had lost a lot of leaves, so maybe we had some hail. It was predicted last night.

I still need to run a few errands. It's supposed to rain until about 6 pm.

AK .. I'm glad you got some rest during the day!!

Hiker.. I need to do the same .. clean out my closet!!

Manna .. I hope it has dried out at your place by now!

Raining here, as well.

I did manage to dig up and transplant some coreopsis before the rain started.

I did my balance exercises.

Made some more blueberry muffins, ate one and froze the rest.

Cleaned the bathroom.

Worked on Bible study again for quite awhile. Tutu--what are you studying in your Bible study?

Mom was in a talkative mood today and very happy that she has friends to eat with in the dining room for the next few days.

Off to cook a chicken breast for dinner tonight.

hiker .. I'm glad your mom is happy today!

We are still on the Louie Giglio book "Not Forsaken." It's about healing from having had a negative father.

Some of us in the group had great dads, some not. We have all enjoyed the book very much. We are on chapter 7 now.

We only meet once a month.

Today was a day of beauty for me and Mom. LOL! I cut my Mom's hair and it looks pretty good. She cut her toenails. I wanted to do mother/daughter pedi/manies but she declined the offer. I cut my own hair....a bit too short in the back and sides. I'm still learning and did the whole top with scissors instead of electric clippers so the top looks better. I used the clippers on the sides and back and was a little overzealous.

Did my own mani/pedi sans polish.

Me, Mom and her BFF are heading to Atlanta tomorrow for our first shopping expedition since the pandemic. We're heading to one of several large ethnic food supermarkets. My Mom's bestie hasn't been since March 2020. We've been a couple times but it's not the same without my Mom's friend.

Did a load of wash and that's about it for the day.

TuTu your Bible study sounds so interesting but hard for those who have had issues with their fathers.

Hiker those muffins sound delicious! I'm so glad that your Mom is having fun at dinner!

See everyone tomorrow!

Our live plants came today! Blueberry bushes, strawberry plants, gladiolus bulbs, onions, ans asparagus roots! Too wet to plant anything today. Hopefully tomorrow.

Staked the spot to plant the asparagus and checked the garden - some of the lettuces are up!

My sis-in-law called this evening and we gabbed for about an hour.

Hiker, how could eat only one blueberry muffin and freeze the rest? I think I'd have probably eaten at least two!

We had a thunderstorm this morning and sunshine most of the afternoon.

AK--Hope you and your entourage had fun in Atlanta.

Manna--Your garden just keeps expanding. I can easily eat just one muffin because I can't fit into my pants. [Big Grin] (But I had yogurt and fruit with it)

Went grocery shopping this morning.

Did my knee exercises.

Even though we had a rainy day yesterday, the coreopsis I transplanted needed watering. In the process I managed to spray myself with the hose. Got soaking wet. [bonk]

A former colleague stopped by and we chatted for quite awhile outside. We talk on the phone a lot but good to see her in person. She just lives across town.

Have a good evening!

Had a lot of rain overnight. The water washed a gully in the driveway and carried a lot of the crushed stone out on the road. This afternoon Hubby and Sonny went out with the tractor and scraped the stones back into the driveway.

Will need to check that the pipes aren't partially blocked tomorrow. Rain is supposed to be over until Friday.

I worked in my sewing room today. I'm cutting out little girls dresses from ladies dresses. Have about half of them cut, maybe 23 of them.

Also gabbed with my sis-in-law for awhile.

Too wet to plant our new plants out. I put the strawberry plants in the fridge, the sweet potatoes I put in the old mum pots with potting soil. 5 or 6 to a pot. The asparagus is still dormant so I let them in the bag. The blueberries are each in a bag with damp potting soil, so they will be okay for a little while.

Fairly lazy day.

Had Bible study via Zoom. Then listened to National Cathedral morning prayer service.

Did my balance exercises.

Talked to my brother and then mom.

Friend called and we talked for over an hour.

I received a porch delivery from our Farmer's market. Everything looks pretty good, but it was a bit more than I would normally spend. But I wanted to try it out.

Well...I've been avoiding Walmart lately for various reasons. The big one was in rebellion for their going to nearly ALL self-checkouts now.

I needed a flower pot and some soil to finish out my planting, so I headed on over to the landscaping area. I thought, "Hey, why not see what plants they have?" (Like I needed any!!!)

They had a lot more variety and more exotic plants than I had ever seen there. I bought three plants. OOPS. I barely have room for them! They are family, though, so we will manage!!

I'm giving my back, neck and shoulders one more day to rest up before planting these.

The weather is so awesome! I think we are due for rain this weekend, then very cool next week.

Hiker .. I hope the food is good!

Manna .. more rain will probably show up at your place next week again.

I hope AK and her mom are having a great day!

We had a nice sunny day. Hubby and the boys worked at smoothing out the stones they had scraped back off the road. Also scraped part of the hill to make it easier to get vehicles up to the parking area. And created a swale so the water runs towards the pipe under the road, instead of down the lane in heavy rains.

Daughter and I were baking today - cookies & bread.

After supper we were out preparing the asparagus patch. The boys dug out 3 stumps, hubby used the 4wheeler to pull them out. The boys used the tiller, I picked up glass. The dog very busily tried digging out an animal's den. I'm guess its a groundhog. We had to laugh at her - she had dirt flying, and muddy face!

Planted a total of 19 asparagus plants. I ordered 10 and they sent 16! a few are very tiny ones, but they will grow too! And one of the boys had bought a pack of 3 at Walmart earlier. I had potted them up and they have ferny stalks growing at least 6 inches tall!

Supposed to rain again tomorrow. Hopefully I can get to my sewing room again.

Lymetoo, it sounds like a cool week with several rainy days coming up.

I think I'm burning the candle at both ends again. [Roll Eyes]

Our Atlanta trip was so much fun but my poor Mom didn't get any sleep the night before from being to excited. LOL. It took a little over 2 hours to get there and we ran into rush hour traffic on the way home. We bought more veggies than anything else.

Yesterday I was overdid it again in the yard but have mostly finished the other landscaped bed. Digging and hauling dirt and pine bark nuggets was the hardest. I was out there from 9:00 to 7:30 with about an hour and a half break. Had to run to the hardware store twice!

And of course I couldn't move after my shower but seem OK today. Still sore but feel so much better.

TuTu glad the study is going so well! I try not to go to Walmart. I don't like them because of the wait time and also sometimes they check your bags on the way out here. Josh worked there for years after high school and through his undergrad and they don't treat their employees decently. His sister still works there.

Manna cute story about your doggie! One of these days I'd like to plant an asparagus bed too so now I know who to get advice from. [Big Grin] I'm waiting with bated breath to see the moonflowers poke their little heads out!

Hiker thank you for being the voice of reason in regards to my yard adventures! I was already outside working away so I'm going to say I didn't see the text....yeah....that's my story. [lol] Laughed about your outdoor shower episode!

My plan today is to rest and watch TV with my Mom.

Hope everyone has a beautiful day!

[hi]

Went to functional chiropractor today. Dropped some homeopathics and added one. He thinks I may have an overgrowth of candida. Will try his methods as they usually work without making me feel too toxic. Will cut out the chips and junk I eat and be careful with starches and fruit.

Did my knee exercises.

Watered my front perennials.

Talked to several friends this afternoon as well as my mom. Looked at the clock and the afternoon is gone but well spent.

Time to go read the paper and do crossword puzzle.

AK .. yeah, Walmart carries a lot of "baggage." They checked people on the way out for awhile. They must have had a lot of complaints because they quit doing it after about 6 months. That was about 2 years ago.

Your landscaping looks great!

I didn't do a whole lot today. We had hubby's old chair removed this morning. I have no idea if it's going to the dump or to be donated.

Then in the early afternoon, the furniture company came to deliver the new chair. Whoop! So far, it's a win!

He was out hitting golf balls when it came, so now he's crashed out in the chair. LOL.

I got carry-out Mexican for us and I managed to dump the guac, sour cream and pico on the kitchen floor. No loss, just a big mess!

The small kitchen rug is in the dryer now after having been washed.

I may go out on the balcony and pot one of the new plants in a bit.

Tomorrow I'm headed to the city to help celebrate my friend's daughter's 11th birthday. It should be fun. She is taking several girlfriends out and about. I will join them at the ceramic shop to paint stuff.

That is right up my alley since my mom used to have her own kiln. Oh, the memories.

I hope everyone has a great evening!

Tutu--Always fun to get a new chair. Maybe you can sneak a nap in it when he is gone! Hope the birthday party was fun.

Manna--Sounds like your place is asparagus paradise.

I did a load of laundry this morning.

Talked to mom.

Did some yardwork--mainly trimming the forsythia and spirea bushes.

Then I took a nap! [Big Grin]

I have ants coming into the kitchen and cannot pinpoint where they are coming from. Just a few here and there but on 2 sides of the kitchen. Sigh.

Saw my first hummingbird of the season at my feeder.

Going to be rainy and windy tonight and tomorrow. Mom instructed me not to drive to her retirement center which is a little over an hour from here.

Feel bad that I will miss mother's day, but I think my brother is coming soon from GA so will see her then plus some appointments coming up. We bought her a beautiful bouquet of roses and she is thrilled.

I am having Swedish meatballs and sauce tonight with green beans and a salad. Am skipping the starchy noodles due to the candida issue.

Hiker, I use aspartame to kill ants, sprinkle it where they are and they carry it back to the nests and it kills them all. It takes awhile, but then you're free of them for a long time. Usually till fall when the try moving in again.

The other thing I use is DE powdered on them. Again, same thing, they carry it back to the nests and then you're rid of them. I like putting the DE in an empty spice bottle and then 'Powder the Ants'! This works best if you get it on them. Just don't raise a dust and breathe it. Not good for your lungs.

Hubby & the boys worked at grading and smoothing and spreading stones on the driveway.

I finished up the laundry and got it folded and into the baskets to go up to the right bedrooms.

Also gathered up the feeder and waterer and the dog crate for the baby chicks coming next week! Son stopped at ACE for chick feed but they were out, so he'll stop at Tractor Supply on the way home from work Monday.

Daughter planted her blueberry bushes tonight. Hubby potted up his trees from Arbor day Foundation. I transplanted three raspberry plants from the yard into the space we made for them.

Did a bit of grocery shopping and still resting up. Me, my Mom and her BFF went to an outdoor memorial/celebration of one of their acquaintances husband.

It was a lovely celebration with some speeches, hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, teas, sodas, dinner and cakes.

We stayed almost 3 hours!

So looks like Mom's social schedule is resuming after a long hiatus due to Covid.

Hiker I hope you do alright with adjusting your diet. Sure can be hard to limit things. Exciting news about the hummer! We love to watch them at our feeders.

Manna I wonder if DE works outdoors. I'm battling ants again in the yard. I usually use fire ant bait but it seems they just move to other parts of the yard. Never thought of using aspartame before.

TuTu thank you for the complement in regards to the landscaping. I sure hope I don't have to do it again in my lifetime. The older I get the harder it's becoming. BTW, I hope you had fun painting ceramics. How neat that your Mom had her own kiln.

Well....back to watching the tail end of the Cinderella movie.
