Time for another week of moving and grooving.

So, turn on those Christmas carols and start dancing. [Big Grin]

Join us as we encourage each other to exercise. Raking leaves, walking? Perhaps doing laundry, vacuuming or going out holiday shopping? We count anything that requires getting out of bed or off the couch. [Wink]

Have a good week! [hi]

I spent a lot of the morning cleaning up broken glass. One of the glass covers and bulbs over my bathroom sink came crashing down as I was drying my hair. I will be finding tiny glass bits for a long time, I am sure.

Chipped my countertop and dented the faucet, too. Grr.

Looked for the same set of vanity lights or a replacement cover for the broken one and of course can’t find one. So am ordering a whole new set of 3 lights to be delivered. Then need to find someone to install them.

Listened to National Cathedral Church service.

Did a load of laundry.

Sounds like mom will get to back to her retirement center tomorrow. Hurrah! I will go over and get her from the hotel and take her back home. Lots to do in her apartment.

I may go over today and try to get in her apartment. Have the key to her unit but not to the building. Wanted to grocery shop for her today as we will have a lot to do tomorrow. I have a feeling they won’t just let me since she isn’t there.

If I can’t get in I will just go crash at a hotel, nap, and read. I know she wants to be picked up early in the morning to go home.

Thanks Hiker for starting us off this week! Good news that your Mom is going home tomorrow.

Today I made beef stroganoff for dinner. Also baked a boxed gluten free pumpkin cake and made cream cheese frosting.

Gave half the leftovers to Josh and will also give some of the cake to my Mom's BFF.

Mom and I are planning on going to Ft Benning again for more shopping. Also need to get her meds and my own.

Off to watch some TV!

What a bummer about the light fixture and the damage... arrgh!! At least you can pick out something more updated.

I need new ones myself, but not ready for the expenditure.

That's awesome that your mom will get to go back to her apartment! Be careful on the roads.

AK ..The pumpkin cake sounds wonderful!!
I managed to eat more pumpkin pie last night and "get away with it." hahaha .. sort of

Saw my allergist today and got bloodwork done. We'll see how that goes.

Still waiting for results from my GP on other bloodwork.

The vampires have been busy!

The weather was AMAZING today!! About 33 last night but sunny and NICE by noon. It's gorgeous out there .. 60's.

I'd like to put up my Christmas lights if hubby will get them for me today.

Ran errands this afternoon...can't get anybody to fill my tires with air. At least my friend helped out with that last night when I was visiting for our "Thanksgiving."

My friend "C" dislocated her knee when she fell trying to put the turkey in the oven. She said she caught it just in time but then slid on the wet floor from the juices of the turkey. Thank goodness it was raw at the time and not HOT!!

She managed to go to the ER and then come home to finish the turkey dinner. It was all very good.

Tutu—my light fixtures were new and updated. Only 7 years old. What is the allergist looking for in your blood work? Just curious as I go back to the allergist after Xmas.

AK—I love beef stroganoff. Somehow my meatloaf tonight is not going to measure up. [Wink]

I showed up at mom’s hotel at 8 this morning and moved her back to apartment. She was so disoriented and I fear this may accelerate her decline.

Had a long talk with my brother about what we can do to help her. She may not be able to stay in independent living much longer. They don’t have assisted living at her complex. Also talked a bit with the residential director who used to run the dementia unit there.

So, they do have a dementia unit and a nursing home and I just hate to move her there. When she moved in there 15 years ago they has assisted living which would be perfect for her. Not sure why they got rid of it but they are now adding a wing with assisted living but it won’t be done for several more years. Need some prayer on this.

While I was at mom’s I did a lot of little chores including putting out her Christmas decorations.

Drove home and finished decorating my little tree. Will get the wreath on the door this week.

Did my knee and back exercises.

Hauled the garbage and recycling to the curb.

Hiker .. yeah, 7 years is more updated than mine. Mine is about 15.

Aren't there any assisted living facilities in her town? Going to dementia care would be a big change for everyone. I sure hope you find a solution.

Dr is checking tryptase, which is associated with mastocytosis and MCAS. I don't think he's checked it in several years.

He also said my last CBC showed slight anemia. I failed to ask him when that was. I just let him do what he wanted. You have to defer to these docs sometimes just to keep their egos up. LOL.

He asked me about the V again .. but at least no lecture this time. [Cool]

Tutu-There are assisted living places in mom’s town. I was hoping not to have to move her from her facility as she has friends there and even if she went to the nursing home they could just pop over and visit. I do not want her in the dementia unit, though, as it is locked down has no library etc. Would be a death sentence for her.

Back later.

Odds and ends type of day here.

Did my balance exercises.

Zipped to one chiropractor and bought my Mg, Zn and probiotics.

Listened to National Cathedral morning prayer service and also watched a short video with Joni Eareckson Tada. She was 17 when she became a quadriplegic and is now 72. Very inspirational message.

Worked on Bible study.

Guys who put in cement slab at my neighbors a few weeks ago left a ton of gravel in front of my mailbox. Shoveled some of it out of the way.

Neighbor gal was not happy with me when I mentioned it to her. The snow plow will just end up pushing into the grass. This is the only set of neighbors who don’t really fit in on our cul-de-sac.

Filled the bird feeders.

Went and got my hair cut.

Called mom. She was so happy to be able to take a shower and wash her hair. Couldn’t risk it at the hotel because no handicapped bars in the shower.

Time to go cook a chicken breast so it will be ready for dinner.

Finally feeling better again. Still coughing, but at least I felt like doing something today!

Hung several loads of wash out on the lines. Mostly big stuff like table cloths and bedding, jeans & dresses & shirts. All the little stuff went in the dryer.

Put some of the leftover pies in the freezer.

Helped sonny with his Christmas shopping list this afternoon.

Cooked leftovers for supper.

Did I say the chickens have finally started laying eggs? The egg basket is colorful. I think there were around 14 eggs yesterday.

Hoping to get to my sewing room tonight.

I just realized that I didn't post yesterday! It was a major shopping day for me. Took Mom earlier to Ft Benning for her shopping then after an early dinner I went out until 9:30 or so doing some of my Christmas shopping.

No luck at 2 stores because because one item that was on sale was only cheaper on Black Friday. Rats! The other store didn't have what I was looking for. Picked up some Dunkin Donuts gift cards and treats for Josh's dog, Ada at Petco.

Also went to Sam's looking for chicken wings for a Christmas potluck at Ft. Benning but had no luck there either!

Hiker I feel for you in regards to your Mom. If you don't think she's ready for the dementia unit, I wouldn't put her there. I'll be praying for you! It sure is hard to figure out what to do where our parents are concerned. I'm thinking about going to a care giver support group myself. I get frustrated with my Mom and need some help in how to deal with her changing personality and memory issues.

Manna am so relieved to hear that you're feeling better! Love the idea of colored eggs! Easter must be a snap. LOL! I talked with my Mom about her sewing Josh's dog Ada a little neckerchief for Christmas. We usual get her chew toys but she has way to many already.

TuTu I can't believe C dislocated her knee and still cooked Thanksgiving dinner! Josh did the same thing and high school and his still bothers him from time to time. Funny I'm having issues with Mom's tires too. I filled them up with air and the TPMS still came on again today and then went off later. I give up trying to figure it out!

Asking you guys for prayers for safety for me and my little Mom. Yet again we had an unwanted visitor tonight as I was talking on the phone with Josh. He came over and helped me close the storm windows for extra protection. He checked the outside of the fenced in yard and didn't see anyone. I didn't open the house door or the security door. Not able to understand what the heck the guy was wanting and told him I'd call the police for him. I repeated it over and over since I couldn't understand exactly what he wanted. He ambled off eventually and Josh was here in no time. Sheesh...I might be up for awhile.

Thanks ahead of time for the much needed prayers!

[group hug]

Manna-glad you are starting to feel better.

AK-so sorry to hear about the weirdo at your door. There have been more instances of that kind of stuff here, too, but fortunately not at my house.

Went grocery shopping this morning. The wonderful man in charge of produce there is moving on to a different job. Will have to break in a new person. He came over and said goodbye to me.

My neighbor, Howard, noticed I was struggling to walk and carry groceries so he came over and carried most of them in for me.

Wrote a card to a gal in Bible study who was in hospital for a week with Covid. Her hubby has it, too, but has stayed out of the hospital.

Did my knee and back exercises.

Called mom. She was a bit more oriented today. That hotel excursion really threw her for a loop. AK—I applaud you living with your mom and taking care of her. I couldn’t do that. If you need a support group, by all means go to one.

Went to chiropractor. Really needed it. Think I will go every week until the end of the year. Since I have met my deductible it is only $10 a session. Really helps me release toxins.

My bathroom vanity light delivery is delayed but that is okay. I can wait a day or a few days more.

Off to do the crossword puzzle in the newspaper. Have a good evening.

Manna .. glad to hear that you are feeling better! Your company always sounds like fun!!

Hiker .. I hope your mom is doing better in a few days.
Good deal on going to the chiro. I'm sad because I just realized I could have stopped by to say good-bye to my chiro.

He retired on Monday and I was in the city that day. I could have stopped by. Thankfully, I saw him about 2 weeks ago.

His secretary was supposed to send out info on the new people who took over his practice, but I didn't get anything. They won't be at the same place.

Maybe I can find his letter.

AK .. The neckerchief for Ada sounds perfect!
Yeah, it was a great meal on Sunday. Her daughter helped out (she's 11 1/2) and I would suppose her husband did too.

Yesterday and today the pain has been REALLY bad for her. She's picking up pain meds this evening, but she will likely need to epi after that.

Mastos don't do well with pain meds. It's a scary thing for sure.

I finished my Bible study this morning and then had Bible study at 1pm. Took off from there at 2:30 to get my tires rotated. I ended up also having to get an alignment.

My front tires are wearing on the outer edges. It does drive better now.

I didn't get home until about 4:30 or so.

Going to decorate for Christmas tonight. I need to get my outdoor lighting up while it's still warm. The weather has been outstanding.

Tomorrow I have a friend coming to our church to teach people how to make winter caps.

Then back home to attend our Christmas party here at the condos. It's mostly our Bible study group plus about 5 more.

It's going to be a blast because our hostess is my new friend from Mississippi. You just KNOW that this Texas gal gets along with her just fine!

[spinning smile] [Big Grin] [spinning smile]

Her accent is so fun. LOL.

Next on my list of things to do is my Christmas cards. I bought the stamps yesterday.

See ya, gang!

Brought my wash in off the lines and have most of it folded.

It rained this afternoon and again this evening.

Sonny worked at fixing up the dirt bike he bought last week. Its the take it all apart and clean and fix from inside out.

Found the Speckled Sussex hen's eggs. She and the rooster are not in the pen with the other chickens. She's laying her eggs behind some wood leaning against the wall in the goat pen.

There are 2 Easter Egger roosters in the pen with the other chickens and they can't live peaceable with this rooster so he and his hen moved out. Since there isn't anything growing for them to damage we let them go.

Cut up a couple older towels for rags and overlocked the edges.

Had a bunch of emails from friends to answer today, so I guess my fingers got some exercise too!

Gabbed on the phone with my Sis-in-law for awhile.

Rough day with little sleep but still ran errands. Picked up some scratch off lotto tickets for Mom as a stocking stuffer. She loves them. While at the store also snagged some pre-made salad for dinner.

Watched TV and wrapped a few gifts and called it a day.

Hiker crime is getting pretty bad in my town in general. Seriously going to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon. I worry about me and Mom's safety. In regards to a support group I really need to hear how others deal with their aging loved ones. Hope I get some good pointers.

TuTu I can relate to pain pill problems. Because of MCAS I break out in psoriasis when I take pain, muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, etc. The next day I feel awful and hungover. Kinda damned if you do and damned if you don't. My allergist has warned me several times about them.

Manna that's how my Mom is going to make the neckerchiefs for Josh's dog. I think it'd be cute if she did several for different holidays. Her overlock machine is amazing. I enjoy using it but have to get help with threading and tension problems.

OK, it's after midnight and time for some shut eye...hopefully!

Had Bible study this morning.

Did my balance exercises.

Lights arrived for bathroom. Russ will put them in at 8 AM, so I need to get up and get ready. He only has an hour to take down existing lights and put up new ones before he has an appointment. I am just happy he volunteered to do it, so I will accommodate whatever schedule he has.

I did manage to figure out which breaker in the fuse box controls the bathroom electricity. They weren’t labeled well and I tromped up and down the stairs a gadzillion times to figure it out. [Big Grin]

Took a long nap this afternoon.

Went to the library and got 4 more books.

Grilling burgers for dinner tonight.

Baking day. Had two batches that didn't rise. Finally figured out I must have forgotten to put the yeast in. Added it after the fact and tried stirring it in. Those loaves look a little funny. I have a little sample loaf of it to taste test....

Hung one load of towels out, then it sprinkled a little. Decided not to wash any more today.

Two of the boys went in to town to finish their Christmas Shopping. After they were home, one of them discovered he left his bag back at the store. He called and they had it at customer service. So he ran in to town again. They also added a second store this time and got cement blocks.

Daughter & hubby worked at building a kid pen in the goat barn. Used wooden pallets make great walls! We had two used gates from a pool surround that worked beautifully as the doors to the pen.

Need to do some desk work and pay bills.

Woke up with what looks like a busted blood vessel in my right eye. Super red on one side of my pupil. Doesn't hurt but looks bad.

Ran a couple errands with my Mom. Her BFF stopped by with some food for her so she had a small fried pork chop, zucchini and fried taro. I had left over salad for dinner.

Manna I need to get some concrete blocks too for the side of the yard where all the water came from that flooded our crawlspace. I looked over the area today and that's as far as I got on that project! LOL! Oh! I took the seeds out of the spiny pod from the moon flower today. Do I just let them dry and put them in a plastic bag?

Hiker those burgers sound great! I ate a big salad but now I feel like snacking on something. Guess I'll mosey on into the kitchen.

See everyone tomorrow!

I usually store them in envelopes, since most seeds we order come in paper rather than plastic. But I guess it doesn't matter. I currently have all the seed pods in a cardboard box setting on top of the furnace to dry.

I had picked them off the stalks before I cut them back. Had all the seed pods on a pile and forgot about them. When I came back to get them, they were scattered all over. Apparently the cats thought they were toys!

Seems like to I kept busy most of the day.

Made a meatloaf and froze half of it.

My neighbor, Russ, came over and installed the lights on the wall above my bathroom sink. Guess I was his assistant. Only took about 30 minutes to take the old ones down and get the new ones up.

Then I zipped to the recycling center with all the cardboard the lights came in.

Did my back exercises and knee exercises.

Worked on Bible study.

Wrapped my mom's Christmas gifts. I have one more gift to get for my brother and that's it. I only buy for my mom, my brother and his wife.

Went back to the grocery store, because their gluten free pizzas were on sale. Also stopped at the pharmacy and bought a rapid covid test for home. Covid numbers are skyrocketing in my county and before I see mom at Christmas I might use the test. Better safe than sorry.

Ordered a bunch of gluten free items from Vitacost since I had a coupon. I like gluten free oatmeal, crackers, rice flour etc.

My neighbor, Don, mulched the leaves in my front yard with his mower. Just waiting for the leaves from the sweetgum in back to fall. But Don is putting his mower away for the year, so I will hire that out.

Called the city about the major potholes in front of my driveway and mailbox. They sent a truck out with pothole filling asphalt but the truck didn't even stop. Grr.

Called a couple of painters to get some estimates on painting baseboards and trim around windows. I would do a rotten job of that.

Am going to read and then fix a light dinner.

Watching Illini basketball tonight on TV.

Hi gang! The foundation specialists came out today and installed the French drain and sump pump into our crawlspace. The French drain butts along the interior walls and connects to a well with the sump pump. The drainage pipe goes out into the side yard. All in all it looks great! Now all I have to do is put my concrete blocks along the fence line on one side and I shouldn't have to worry.

Afterwards I went and picked up Mom from her BFF's and we went out to dinner.

I'm ready for bed because yet again I didn't get much sleep, maybe a few hours.

Manna I got a good chuckle picturing the cats with their prickly toys!

TuTu thanks for the link. I noticed my eye is a tad sore and hope everything's OK.

Hiker glad your lights are up. I think me and my Mom are going to get our Covid boosters tomorrow. I haven't heard anything about Covid numbers here but I did chat with a friend of mine and she told me her brother and Mom got their boosters. She's still undecided about the vaccine.

Off to download a book onto my Kindle and read a bit. Night everyone!

AK—Hope your eye is okay. Glad your mom is getting the booster and I hope neither of you have side effects.

I did a load of laundry this morning.

Then did my balance exercises.

Worked a long time on Bible study.

Made another trip to the recycling center and then took landscape waste to the town’s site. Now that they are picking up leaves from the curbs they are not picking up other landscape waste.

Dropped books off at the library but didn’t go in. Mailed a few Christmas cards.

Made muffins and froze half of them. My gluten free recipe only makes 9 muffins. I make sure to eat one right away! [Big Grin]

Went to Dollar General to get a couple of birthday cards. Ended up with a bag of chips, too. Those are my bane. Will try not to eat the whole bag this evening.

Took a nap and now am thinking about dinner and then a chick flick.

Tutu-I just finished reading A Christmas Promise by Richard Paul Evans. Short and sweet.

You two got a lot done at your houses!

We spent the morning helping put up the Christmas tree at church. You know: "hanging the greens?!"

Then hubby and I had lunch out.

I did finish putting up all of the Christmas items yesterday here at home. Got the lights on my balcony too. They look good!

We had a really fun party here at the condos on Thursday night. Great food and wonderful fellowship, complete with games, prizes and gifts.

We played "dirty Santa" and I got a gift I liked! The person who got my gift was very happy too. I gave tiny wooden nativity from Bethlehem (from Mardel) and a winter hat I made.

I'm reporting in reverse order. lol

Thursday I did 10 min on each machine at exercise and 4 minutes on the arm cranks. I hope to start upping my laps next week.

Must get to bed. ...church comes early!

You both are doing good!

I'm down in the dumps today. Mom said something that makes me very sad. She said that I make her feel crazy or stupid when I correct her. She also said that I think I'm perfect and never make a mistake.

She brought this up after we were hunting for her car in the parking lot. She insisted on going the wrong way and I couldn't deter her....sigh! I tried to tell her where the car was but she became agitated. I feel terrible!

Night gang!
