Tell us about your movement/exercise this week.

Are you raking, swimming, walking, dancing, cleaning? All these and more count!

Tutu--We'll even count your eyeballs moving as exercise when your watch your beloved Astros in the World Series. [Big Grin]

Have a super week! [hi]

I take Sundays off from my shoulder rehab exercises.

I did walk 18 minutes and stretch out my back.

Went to Kroger to use the coupons that expire today.

I did one load of laundry. Probably need to iron a few things.

Heading off to do my balance exercises now.

Hi there Hiker! Thanks for getting us started this week. I've been studying and just finished.

I only do my at home PT on Sundays. Did manage to put the hoses away and pick up trash in the yard.

Now getting ready to cook Sunday dinner. Not doing anything special, just gnocchi and jarred marinara sauce and already prepared meatballs. Bought some discounted ciabatta bread so will toast up some garlic bread and stir-fry some broccoli and edamame.

So...a slower day and probably will just visit with Josh when he comes by for dinner.

See you all tomorrow!

AK, this is the 3rd year we planted corn for cornmeal. The first year we picked it too early and it got moldy before it dried. The second year the mice got it.

This year I waited till the farmers picked their corn and mine had the ears hanging down on the stalks. We will shell the corn and then finish drying it in the food dryer or the oven.

I'm not quite sure how we'll grind it into cornmeal. One of my friends was planning to get a grinder to grind wheat for flour. Maybe I can borrow hers.

The apples we peel & slice with an old fashioned peeler / slicer and put them in our food dryer to dry. One dryer full is a little more than fits in a gallon jar.

We like filling the dryer in the evening and by morning they are dry and ready to put away. The house smells so nice an apple-y while they dry!

My son found the apple peeler at Goodwill or another second hand shop. We really like it.

Thanks, hiker!!

OMG .. last night was so amazing.. Roller coaster ride, as usual! We led the whole game until they tied it up in the 9th. Everyone thought .. oh no..here we go...

But in the bottom of the 9th Springer walked and then on the very first pitch, Jose' Altuve hit a homer. It was ecstasy!!

I was in SHOCK! I felt like we would win, but it happened more quickly than I expected!! I just sat there and said, "Oh, my God" about 5 times.

So I got about 5 hours of sleep and no Sunday nap because my masto friend and her husband came to see a show here at 2 pm. It was a bluegrass Gospel show. Very good!!

So now I'm watching the Cowboys/Eagles game. I'm really a Texans fan but I'm loyal to Texas .. always.

It's so nice that you can grow your own food, Manna. I used to. I'm in a condo now. I"m not able to garden, so it's all OK.

AK .. I hope your dinner went OK for you. Happy studying .. or do you take Sunday off?

Tomorrow I have traction on my back, then straight to PT on my shoulder .. then straight to a luncheon with a show group I belong to. It's a group of people who go to shows together. This is our last luncheon of the season. I don't usually go because of my food issues.

Night Night, everyone!!

Shoulder exercises, stretching and balance exercises today.

Wind gusts of 40 mph so did not walk outside.

Went to functional chiropractor. He keeps adding homeopathic stuff for detox. I never seem to drop anything, though. $$

Am at regular chiropractor now. At least insurance covers 25 sessions a year if I have pain.

Home PT and arm routine then Mom and I went to the wellness center. Me for my fantastic Zumba class and Mom did 28 minutes on the NuStep and walked some laps.

Most of the afternoon spent with Josh and his car search so zero studying done.

Manna thanks for the info! My grandfather in MO always had the family garden on his farm and grew corn and other veggies. My Dad was in the military but every summer we vacationed in MO and us kids would tend the garden and gather eggs and make butter. I had friends that would grind their own wheat for bread. Best bread I ever had!

TuTu my studying has gone to the wayside! Dinner was probably not so great for me and my mast cell issues and the potato gnocchi is off the list of things to make for dinner. Seems no one cares for the taste so I won't be making it again. BTW, glad your teams are winning!

Hiker detoxing can be a tough issue. I do charcoal tablets, chlorella and spirulina for detox. Hope and pray everything is ok in your neck of the woods.

Well....it's after 3:00 a.m. In the morning and I've got to get some sleep! Night all!

[sleepy]

Did my shoulder exercises.

Went to balance therapy and was totally off balance when I got there. Therapist wanted me to get on awful machine so I did but couldn’t even stand upright when it wasn’t running a program.

I begged to do something different and she agreed. Totally worn out after 30 minutes. I never cried at shoulder therapy but I had tears today. Felt like I had failed.

Condo at Mennonite Residences where I want to live is coming open and no Mennonite wants it. Can’t get in to see it until November but I walked around it and don’t think it is the one.

Front door doesn’t face street which bothers me for some reason. Steep embankment on side cuts down green space. Lots of mature trees but I doubt it gets much light inside. Will look at it but may pass.

Former colleague passed away today from MS. She was the epitome of strength and positive attitude.

Think I need some time tonight to pray and then relax and get rid of this not so great day.

Hiker I'm sending an extra big hug your way! I'm sorry for the loss of your colleague. She must have been a joy to be around. I'm glad that you passed on the torture machine today and with all you have on your plate I'd take it a bit easy.

All I managed today was my home PT. Left Josh's car at the dealership last night because we thought he we going to buy a vehicle that he liked there but my friend's hubby, who's a mechanic, recommended that we keep looking because that particular make has issues.

So me and Mom were at the dealership by 9:00 this morning and I drove Josh's car home.

Skipped the gym to get some studying done.

Taking Mom to Emory hospital in Atlanta tomorrow morning for her hepatologist appointment. He monitors her cirrhosis.

So it's off to bed! Night everyone!

Shoulder exercises, back stretches and balance exercises accomplished.

Went for consult with plastic surgeon. Surgery set for November 4. Going to be a 2 inch scar. Ugh.

Went to library.

Saw chiropractor. Back is improving slowly but surely.

Went back to shoe store to try on shoes that came in. Was bummed that they didn't fit. Was looking for a pair of brown casual shoes that aren't tennis shoes.

Ordered a different style in navy. I do better with shoes that tie, but so many of these are slip ons. I did order a pair of boots for snow, but am not convinced they will be waterproof even with silicone spray.

May watch the Nationals beat up on the Astros again tonight, Tutu. [Big Grin]

The weekend was mostly cloudy here in SW Fl so I decided to completely clean my apartment. The bathroom and kitchen were emptied of everything and then everything was cleaned. Inside of cabinets, outside of cabinets, floors, under appliances, everything. Everywhere else was cleaned good, tile was cleaned, carpet vacuumed, everything dusted and cleaned. I would not have had the energy to do this before the Antabuse. I am a clean freak so I love how the apartment looks and feels now.

I am taking the Antabuse now every other day, have had some continuing mood problems but nothing as bad as before.

I am walking consistently between 3 and 4 miles with no problems, and continue to use the apartment gym for 20 minutes or so 2 or 3 times a week.

I haven't said much about my mast cell issues, which have been very, very bad at times, but those issues have settled down considerably since starting the Antabuse and attacking the Lyme.

I received a private message yesterday from another Lymenet member who is on the Lyme Facebook groups for Antabuse, and he told me that one of the members there posted that he has finished treatment and has his life back. My feelings about this drug continue to be the same, the drug works against Lyme like nothing else I have tried, but the side effects can be pretty unpleasant at times. I am just trying to ignore them or deal with them as best as I can and focusing on the finish line.

It's a gym night for me tonight, I am walking there pretty soon so I can get back and cheer the Astros on tonight in game 2.

I hope everyone is well, and hiker you have my sincere condolences on the loss of your friend.

OK, Hiker .. if you wanna talk smack! You need to hope we aren't able to advance the 11 runners we left on base in game one!

FL .. Boy, would I love to see the Astros in Florida! It would probably be easier for me to see them in Houston though.

I'm stuck in Missouri and probably will continue to live here. No live Astros baseball for me!

I grew up watching the Colt '45's then the Astros. I was in attendance at the first game played in the Dome. My brother was able to attend the first and the last games there.

Went for traction and then PT on my shoulder this morning. Did some grocery shopping and then took a nap. Got up too early this morning.

Made an appointment for the podiatrist. YUCK. Now I have a new problem in my "good" foot.

I did too much walking and standing yesterday while working on OCC. We are almost ready!!!!

We will set up tables next Thursday and Friday, then the big party on Saturday. (Nov. 2nd)

I did my shoulder exercises, stretched back and legs and did my balance exercises.

Tried to go for a walk but was so off balance I only lasted about 10 minutes. Can't quite figure out why balance is horrible. I could walk 20-30 minutes easily this time last year. Feel like I am on a small boat rocking in the water.

Went grocery shopping.

I went to Bible study this morning. We only have one more week with our study of Joshua. We will do Judges next, but not until February. Bummed about the long time in-between studies as I really like the women in the group.

I spent almost 2 hours this afternoon working on next week's study.

I plan to relax and read tonight.

Tutu-you will not have to watch the Nationals beat up on the Astros tonight. Will have to wait until tomorrow night. [Wink]

NLIF--Come on up and clean my house!!! [Big Grin] So glad you are able to do those tasks easily now.

I hear ya on the Bible study break. We are on break until late January. To ease our withdrawal, we are having a luncheon tomorrow at our leader's condo.
Pray that I can get up there!! (my feet are terrible)

We've been meeting in a condo below hers so I wouldn't have to go up the stairs. Two weeks ago I told her that I could make it up there for the luncheon. But now my right foot is swollen. I suspect a neuroma. I have an appointment next week with the podiatrist.

Just in time for OCC next week!! This is similar to last year when I first injured my hip. I could barely get through it.

Hiker .. you can't gloat when it's not even your team!! [Wink]

We are both staying inside today .. well, sorta. Hubby left an hour ago to practice his horns at church. His other show starts up soon.

Hope AK is staying safe!

Wore out yesterday but Mom's appointment went OK. She just had to get some blood work done. We met my friend and her mother and had a mother/daughter luncheon and we also squeezed in a bit of shopping.

The downside to that was we ended up getting stuck in ATL rush hour traffic! Oh joy! So we rolled into town around 8:30 last night and my Mom wanted to grab dinner at Outback. So between the Japanese food at lunch and the steak at dinner I was not feeling to great last night. Mast cells went on strike! No anaphylaxis thank God!

Today went with Mom to run errands and once home started studying again and just finished up my index cards and it's only 10:26 so a little time to unwind.

No exercise for the past 2 days and I feel like a slug!

Hiker hope your balance issues get better! I know it can be scary to feel off balance. That was one of my issues with the mast cell problem I have.

TuTu nothing is worse than having aching feet! I have a neuroma in my left foot and my ortho doc wanted to give me a cortisone injection and talked about possible surgery. Of course this was right before I took Josh to AK and our planned little hiking trip. So I passed on the treatment plan and used a ball of foot gel pad that helped with the pain.

NLIF I'm super intimidated by your cleaning prowess! So Antabuse is giving you energy? One of the things I struggle with is fatigue. I beat myself up because I feel like I should be doing more. Surprised you have/had mast cell issues too. So do you think there's a link between Antabuse and your mast cell issues?

OK...friends...off to watch TV before bed.

Night all!

Today was a much better day!

I did my shoulder exercises and my stretches.

I went to the clinic for balance therapy. She worked me hard combining balance exercises with strengthening of hip and legs muscles. Definitely wore me out.

She added a few more exercises for home.

NLIF--you inspired me to do a bit of cleaning. But I only did the bathroom and a bit of the kitchen.

Got out my winter blankets, although I am reluctant to put them on the beds, yet.

Am working on my annual Christmas poem. Have most of it written but need to refine it later.

Enjoy your Friday evening!

Did my home PT and arm routine as usual. Mom was a bit under the weather with cold symptoms and decided not to go to the wellness center. So I went solo and stayed for the entire hour of Zumba! Boy did I have fun! The group had a planned luncheon at a local seafood place so I was able to attend. Ended up getting a combo platter with chicken tenders for me and a whole fried catfish which I took home to Mom. There were about 12 of us and we enjoyed each others company and gabbed away!

Taking a break right now from studying but will get right back to it in a few minutes.

Hiker I'm so glad that you're feeling better! BTW, downloaded WhatsApp and hope it's working so we can text while I'm in Okinawa. I'm also going to download Google Translate. You wouldn't happen to know of another translation app? My Japanese is so limited!

Well....I guess I've stalled enough....back to studying!

Hey, gang.

AK .. eating out twice in one day can definitely do your mast cells in. OUCH.

So the gel pad .. sounds uncomfortable. What's weird is that my problem is under the first two toes .. not in the usual neuroma spot.

Hiker .. I'm glad you had a better day!!

We had our Bible study luncheon. I had a safe fritata and cheese cake thanks to our host. It was delicious!

One of my neighbors also gave me 3 winter coats this week!!! They are NICE coats, so now I have to go through my closet and get rid of coats that don't fit.

It's rainy and cool here. I actually wore one of the new coats even though I wasn't that cold.

PS .. I managed to make it up the stairs without too much pain. Whew.

Watching my 'Stros but I'm not willing to jinx anything!! LOL

It's still around 90 here most days so I have still been swimming and laying in the sun most days and walking or gym at night. Last night I walked about 3.5 miles and feel sore this morning, but in a good way.

I am now taking 100mg's of Antabuse instead of 50, and my herxing has increased some. It doesn't feel intolerable, though.

I am glad my 'fall cleaning' has motivated some of us. In college, during my sophomore year, I had a roommate in the dorms who took one look at my messy ways back then and said as politely as he could..."no way we're living like that, dude"...lol. He became one of my best friends for life and turned me into someone who cannot stand anything dirty. Next up is my truck. When I am done it will look like it just came off the car lot [Smile] . At least the inside, I don't think I feel well enough yet to wax a car in the Florida heat.

AK, that Atlanta rush hour traffic is awesome, isn't it? I went to school in the middle of the city, at Georgia Tech, and my dorm my first two years was right next to the interstate. I saw and lived with that traffic my whole time there and I don't miss it at all.

As far as my mast cell issues, I know I haven't said much about that, but it has been a major issue for me over the last ten years or so. It started for me during some Bicillin LA shots prescribed by Dr. C, and while I stopped the shots it left me very, very sick and allergic to almost everything for a long period of time. I was bedridden for months and lost over 60 lbs.. I have had other major incidents when I was given some IV Vancomycin while in the hospital, and then last year during an endoscopy procedure it was triggered again by the general anesthesia. I lost about 50 lbs. after that.

It wasn't until reading the thread on Mast Cell issues that Lymetoo started on here that I really started to understand what was going on, as none of my doctors I had seen down here knew what was happening. If there are any doctors in SW Florida who understand this condition I haven't found them yet. For the most part I have just had to live with my attacks and avoid things that I know would set off reactions. Eating out is almost impossible for me when I am going through a bad period.

In at least one article I read somewhere, it said that the Mast Cells were dysfunctional due to the Lyme infection, so I hoped that if I were able to knock down the Lyme with the Antabuse my Mast Cell issues would get better. I don't know if that is true or not, but so far it seems to be helping as I am now eating things that I wasn't able to before, and the exercise that I am doing isn't setting off any reactions. Right now I think everything is just a consequence of treating the Lyme effectively.

I am off to the pool for awhile and then will watch as much college football as I can today. Saturdays in the Fall are my favorite time of year for sports. Tonight I will be hoping the WS gets tied up at 2-2. My beloved GT Yellowjackets are off today, but that is OK as we are having a pretty bad year.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Jeff

Up early so did my at home PT and went to the Y. Walked for 2 laps then rode the recumbent bike for 10 minutes, rowed for 10 and finished up with 10 minutes on the elliptical. Cooled down with 2 more laps of walking.

Today is going to be crazy! My Mom is still under the weather with a cold so I'm taking her bestie and we're going to an Oktoberfest party. Invite says, 'Bratwurst, beer, Schnitzel, beer, Rouladen, beer And...did we mention beer?' Oh boy.....

Starts at 6:00 and ends when they kick everyone out!

We have to leave at 9:00 because Josh and I are leaving at 10:00 p.m. to drive his car to ATL so my friend's hubby can work on it. So I'm following him in my car with his dog Ada riding in the back. We're spending the night and coming home tomorrow.

It's going to be a long day and an even longer night!

TuTu that is an unusual spot for a neuroma! I know you tried the cortisone injections (brave) so is surgery in your future? I'm looking for a jacket to take on my trip. Since I lost weight I don't have hardly any clothes! I did find a pair of black dress pants at Marshall's for $10. Now if I can update my underclothes I'd be good to go. I've been putting off buying things because I'm still losing weight but can't go with baggy drawers!

No Lyme glad my nephew is borrowing my car so I don't have to clean it! TuTu has helped me quite a bit with mast cell info and that thread is the bomb! In fact, TuTu was the one that mentioned to me that my symptoms sounded like mast cell issues and that got me started on another road to health and wellness. My allergist is in ATL with an office in Newnan that's closer to me. I only see him annually so far (keeping fingers crossed).

OK gang....off to pack an overnight bag!

[hi]

Oh...I forgot to mention that the reason we're driving at night is because his master cylinder might be shot. So brakes are wonky. Thank God it's a manual so might have to be clutching it on the way there. He refused to let his Auntie drive it, even though I have more experience not using brakes from driving on all that ice in AK. Be praying for us!

AK--I thought your nephew was going to buy a new car. Rats. Octoberfest sounds fun. Praying for your drive.

I did my exercises today. I am up to 90 minutes of shoulder exercises, stretching and balance exercises.

Did one load of laundry and some cooking.

Good day to watch football as it is pouring rain here. Watched Illini beat Purdue and will probably watch the World Series tonight.
