It’s time for another week of moving and grooving. Tell us about your exercise. Are you raking leaves, shoveling snow, walking, doing laundry? Almost anything counts here.

I did my balance exercises today which involves a lot of legwork and strengthening of the legs. I took the day off from my shoulder exercises.

Such a beautiful day outside here. Sunny and almost 50°. So, I got out and cut down some more perennials and filled the bird feeders.

Tomorrow we will have snow and the low tomorrow night will be 10°. I’m not looking forward to getting up early in the morning to go to my doctor’s appointment in that snowy windy weather but I do want to get the stitches out of my face.

Have a super week!😀

I walked just a little bit today. I am having some pain in the front of my thighs and some pretty severe cramping issues all over my legs. I am not sure if it is from walking too much or is just part of a herx.

I am taking lots of magnesium citrate on a daily basis but still am having cramping and twitching issues. I am not sure if increased cramping and twitching of muscles can be part of a herx.

I am trying to take 100mg's every other day, and only a few weeks ago I was taking 50mg's twice a week. Maybe I am just herxing from the increased dose.

My mood continues to be very depressed, I might stop for a few days or more and see if the physical and mental symptoms subside.

hiker, good luck with your Dr.'s appointment tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a great week.

I was outside most of day. I think I bagged 5 bags of leaves When wind started I did lots of other yard things. Moved some daisies and lilacs. Threw some branches over the fence to the empty lot. Drained the hoses. I still have to figure out how to get the bags to the dump but I’m happy I got it done before cold wind and flurries that are coming.

The last two days I walked dog using cane instead of walker or wheelchair and it felt really good.

I’m behind on laundry and dishes but I’m glad I got the outside stuff done. I ll get going on that tomorrow.

Tuesday I have a guy coming to give me estimate to redo sink plumbing, add wheelchair accessible sink and dishwasher and move the shut off to water so I can reach it. There are leaks that need to be fixed too. It’s almost the last project to finish redoing my house. Going on 8 years. But it’s the perfect place to get old in.

Ann I’m glad you will get the stitches out. I hope it heals up quickly.

NLIF I’m confused what you took 100 mg and 50 mg of. Was it doxy and you might be herxing? I also rely on magnesium for leg cramps and twitches I need a small banana or potato a day also to prevent leg cramps. They work with the magnesium. I hope you figure it out and feel better soon.

I’m not sure if I mentioned it before but I have a brother in Cape Coral!

Hi everyone! Thanks Hiker for getting us going this week! Just my at home PT today. Had trouble sleeping so was up at the ungodly hour of 3:30 a.m.! Showered at 5:00 and did 3 loads of laundry. Made my Mom's breakfast and then I started to feel puny again. Chocking it up to lack of sleep. So the plan is to take a sleeping pill if I have to.

Hiker I read the earlier thread that you made some gluten free chocolate chip cookies. I would love to have the recipe! Hope everything goes OK with the removal of your stitches! And hey, bundle up! Wow, 10 degrees already! OMG!

NLIF I'm sorry to hear that you're going through the ringer with the Antabuse again. Is it as bad as before? Hope you'll be OK.

Kayak long time no see! You sure got a lot of work done outside! I'm down for the count with a hideous sinus infection and have been taking it easy since Wednesday. Hope all the remodeling in your house goes as planned.

Well, gang, guess I'm going to veg some more. See everyone tomorrow!

AK, not quite as bad as last time, except for the discomfort in my legs. This has to be some kind of herx, I am eating very healthy and taking good supplements as much as I ever have along with the exercise I am doing. No way can this be the illness getting worse. At least I hope so.

Kayak, I have been taking the new to Lyme drug Antabuse for about two and a half months. I have had some horrible, horrible herxes with it so maybe this is another one.

Another lymenet member called me a few days ago to tell me that he was unable to get Antabuse from any pharmacies in his area. Apparently the demand for it has greatly increased and it is currently out of stock in many places. I presume it is because of the great number of Lyme patients who have started taking it recently.

AK- I used a mix to make the cookies. But even though they were not from scratch they are delicious.

NLIF— Hope this is just a herx. Have you thought about backing down to 100 mg twice a week instead of every other day. Herxes can be so hard on the body and slow the healing.

Did a load of laundry and am relaxing now with a book.

Cheerio.

hiker, I think that is exactly what I am going to do (go back to twice a week instead of EOD). I increased the dose and how often I was taking it, and think that that is what caused this bad herx.

I was supposed to take a dose this morning but skipped it, and I don't think I am going to take another one until this herx is gone. I am also not going to walk or exercise much until this muscle pain and cramping subsides.

One thing to be optimistic about is that when I have had to stop treatment for awhile in the past due to herxing, I have felt really great when the herx lets up.

NLIF, do you take omega 3's? That can help with depression - our health care professional said 80% of depression is caused by lack of omega 3's.

Also magnesium glycinate may be a better kind of magnesium to get into the muscles.

Hope you are soon feeling better!

NLIF—I use mag glycinate and zinc and calcium. But take them apart from each other as they will prevent absorption of one another.

I will look for some magnesium glycinate and try it along with some zinc and calcium. Today the twitching has subsided noticeably and the pain and cramping in my legs has almost disappeared. Maybe I was just experiencing a really bad herx, which would be understandable with the recent dose and frequency increase.

I know that I have improved on this drug, there is no doubt, but right now I have no idea if I would ever be able to take 500mg's a day for weeks or months as I have seen LLMD's suggest is needed.

I simply don't know how I would ever be able to tolerate that. I guess right now all I can do is to continue with a fairly low dose and see where it takes me.

As far as the muscle twitching in my legs, and especially my calf muscles, I haven't noticed too much of an improvement while taking this Antabuse.

I remember back in 2006 getting a PM from a Lymenet meember who said that Bicillin LA gave him his life back, but that he still got muscle twitching that never completely seemed to go away. Maybe there is just some damage from this illness that we will always have to live with.

By the way, I did two rounds of Bicillin LA, 2.4M units with eight shots each, and it did nothing for me in 2006 and then 2008.

Manna, I have been trying to eat as much salmon as I can for the omega 3's, but I am not taking any kind of daily supplement. I will look for some the next time I am out.

NLIF—I get my mag glycinate from a chiropractor. It and the zinc I take are made by Metagenics. Not cheap but not sold at regular stores, either.

I did my shoulder and balance exercises today. Balance exercises are working my leg and hip muscles.

I got my stitches out today and the pathology report indicated they got all the melanoma. Hurrah!!

Glad my appointment was early because it is snowing and blowing and getting worse. Roads weren’t great this morning and I am not venturing out.

Time to go do the daily crossword puzzle.

Wow all, I must be zoning out or something because I thought I already posted today! Good thing I checked!

Home PT and added back the exercises for my SI joint. Still battling a horrid sinus infection but got some great advice from friends and am hoping to get better. Acted on the advice immediately and have my fingers crossed.

NLIF sounds like a herx to me. I agree with Hiker about taking it easy and I'd ease up on the exercise to. To hard on the body. Also going low and slow is exactly what I would do. Glad you're feeling better.

Hiker I downloaded just one book for my trip, The Goldfinch, when I saw that it has over 700 pages. That should keep me occupied in the evenings. What wonderful news about your surgery! I'm celebrating with you my friend!

Manna I'm doing vegan liquid EFA's and hope that covers all my bases. I used to eat quite a bit of fatty fish until I had a reaction to seafood.

Well I'm off to read! Night everyone!

I’ve mostly been doing laundry all day. Caught up dishes and washed bath and hall floor. Everything’ way overdue. Before that I cleared the carport a bit and brought car in. Snow and ice overnight

I also draggedvdehumidifyer out to new shed and rigged up elec cord. The humidity went down 20 Pt’s in about 4 hrs. I unhooked it all so I can sleep.

I have to get up early and pick up rest of house. Plumber is coming to give me estimate on redoing kitchen so it is more accessible for me

We all had boa busy day. Night!

Shoulder exercises and back stretches this morning.

Went to balance therapy this afternoon. I think I am getting a bit better but have a long way to go.

Went to chiropractor. Back is a bit better, too.

Cold and icy here. My ultra-kind neighbor managed to get the ice off my driveway, walk, and porch. Those face south, so are totally clean.

Mailbox on the street may be a challenge. [Roll Eyes]

I had to cancel my appointment for an MRI on Monday due to the snow and ice. It was pretty nasty out there! We only got 1/2 inch of snow I guess. Living on top of a steep hill has its disadvantages.

So .. next Monday is the day.

It was about 14 degrees last night and today only made it to 29, but it was sunny. I made it to my PT this afternoon, but he didn't do traction.

Tomorrow I have to go to the city for my 6 mo checkup with my allergist. Then back home for PT on my shoulder.

Wednesday night I get to go to another awesome concert here. It was a bonus ticket I got several months ago.

FL .. I hope you are feeling better today.

AK .. Get well soon, please!

hiker ..you do have a great neighbor there!!!

Hi everyone! Did all my home PT exercises for the day. Still struggling with the sinus thing so trying to take it easy.

Today was my Mom's 88th birthday so I had to brave the Georgia cold (30's this morning) and run some last minute errands. Picked up some paper cake plates and matching napkins, 2 candles with the number 8, and some grapes.

I didn't have a lot of energy so the day before I went to Publix and bought 2 loaf cakes, one banana walnut the other was cranberry pecan. Sliced them up and put them on a platter with a row of grapes dividing the different cakes. That was the birthday cake for the day.

I'm truly blessed to have my sweet little Mom still with me!

Hiker I'm so glad that your back and balance are improving! It's about time you caught a break! Thank God for your neighbor! I know that had to be a lot of work!

TuTu we need to form a PT club or something! I might end up having to do mine indefinitely. I miss the snow but not the ice! I remember one place I lived at in Anchorage. there was a stop sign that no matter what I did, I always slid. I even had a 4 wheel drive pick up truck with studded tires!

You guys be careful with all that ice!

When it snows here {rarely}, I like to build a little snowman. Down here they're the mini fun size!

See everyone tomorrow!

[hi]

NLIF, a naturopath we know recommended Nordic Naturals as the best brand of fish oil that he found.

Depending on what is causing the muscle twitches in your legs - maybe the magnesium might help?? Its worth a try anyway! Won't hurt anything.

Did my shoulder exercises, back stretches and balance exercises.

Purchased a pair of tennis shoes/walking shoes. Not sure I will keep them. Of course, you are not supposed to wear them outside if you are going to return them, but how else do I know if they are comfortable walking on cement?

Stopped at Dollar General to get some Christmas cards for my mom. She doesn't drive anymore but likes to send out cards.

Relaxing the rest of the day.

Hey gang ...

I went for my allergy appointment. He preached to me about getting a flu shot. I told him I would have to think long and hard on that one. I haven't had a shot in 15-20 years.

Came home to do the PT therapy on my shoulder. She did a great job of massaging it... Worked out some bad kinks.

Going to a show tonight.

Hiker .. you could walk on your patio or somewhere that is not real dirty. I did that once and decided if I got them dirty, I would clean them with a magic eraser.

AK... It was fun to see your mom's birthday pics. She's so cute!

LP... Hope you were able to chill a bit today.

FL .. How ya doing?

Hello gang! Did all my home PT exercises and Mom and I actually went out and ran a couple of errands.

We went to the bank and Ft. Benning to gas up the car, pick up 2 gallons of water and we also picked up dinner for later from Boston Market.

I'm feeling better today and hoping to continue improving thanks to all my friends that helped with some wonderful suggestions!

Hi Manna!

Hiker I hope those shoes work out for you. They sure were cute!

TuTu I'm with you in regards to a flu shot. I've never had one and don't intend to get one now.

Well...off to finish watching The Princess Bride with Mom.

We never had flu shots either. Don't intend to get them.

Hoping to get some Christmas sewing done. Thought I'd like to make some pj's for my hubby - shh! Don't tell him!

Did my usual exercises routine--shoulder rehab exercises, back stretches, and balance exercises.

I did go grocery shopping.

I went to the library and by chance friend's kids were singing with a choir there. Fun to hear them.

Am still debating on whether to keep this shoes or not. Will give them a few more days. I have worn Merrell's for so long, but they don't make the style I like anymore and the ones I bought since I don't like.

Off to do a bit of cooking. Pork loin, brussels sprouts and carrots and some cranberry sauce.

Shoulder exercises this morning and balance therapy at the clinic this afternoon.

Returned my SAS tennis shoes and bought a pair of running shoes. Comfortable so far.

Am at chiropractor now.

Relaxing tonight with a friend.

AK .. so exciting that the trip is near! So happy that you are feeling better!

hiker .. those shoes may be better suited to your needs.

I need to do MY shoulder exercises!! I'm a slacker on them. I only have two more sessions, but may ask my Dr to refer me for the other shoulder. It hurts more than the bad one now.

I went to hubby's show this morning with our Pastor. It was really good. Then we all went out to eat at Cracker Barrel. We don't usually eat there. It was delicious!

I also ran errands this afternoon and bought some more flip flops for next year's Operation Christmas Child boxes! I found some stuffed animals and some shoes.

I think I have about 50 pair now! Most of them were 50 cents each.

Let's see...today was just my usual home PT and staying home to rest and tying up some loose ends before tomorrow. Josh is coming over at 8:00 in the evening but isn't taking us to the shuttle bus to the ATL airport until 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Our flight leaves at 7:00 a.m. from there.

So it's 10:30 p.m. and I'm trying to stay awake and acclimate a bit to the time zone I'll be in for the next month. They're 13 hours ahead of EST. So I'm going to try and stay up until 3:00 then hopefully sleep at least 8-9 hours with the help of my little blue friends (Halcion).

Manna don't worry your secret is safe here! I love to work on Christmas projects too.

Hiker your dinner the other night of pork loin, brussel sprouts, carrots and cranberry sauce sounded so delicious! My appetite has been very poor lately and am hoping that'll change asap. You're doing so good on your exercises!

TuTu you can't beat 50 cents a pair! Way to go on scoring items for OCC! Sounds like you had a wonderful day with a show and lunch!

I'll see you all tomorrow!

Just my usual at home PT routine. Ran a couple of errands and am getting ready to pack up my laptop so Josh can store our valuables at his house.

So this is it! Hopefully I can still log in here because I'm taking a Kindle tablet and don't foresee any issues with using WiFi over in Japan.

You all hang in there and I'll be in touch!

Bye!

Have a wonderful adventure, AK! I am sure you will get lots of walking in on your trip.

Did my usual exercise routine of shoulder, back and balance exercises.

Spent the afternoon at a friend's birthday open house. He turned 70. Lots of food and a good time had by all.

We got a used wood splitter this week. This afternoon Hubby went out and split a few pieces of wood with sonny's help!

It was windy & sunny here today. The wind made it feel cold even though the thermometer showed 40 degrees.
