This is the tick that is aggressive, has "seed" tick babies that attack in hundreds and itch like crazy. They are fairly large and have a white spot on the back.
For some time Lone Star ticks were thought to be only in the south, but have moved north along the coast and into New England, as well as the midwest.
They also carries several diseases: human ehrlichiosis, tularemia or rabbit fever, Heartland virus disease, Bourbon virus disease, and Southern tick-associated rash illness (STARI) as well as causing red-meat allergy.
This study was limited to the northern US and Southern Canada.
