Good afternoon, everyone!!

How's the weather in your neighborhood? Loving it here today and I think the rest of the week looks pretty promising.

We had church today and our Christmas food will be taken to one of the local schools next Sunday for distribution to 6 families who are in need.
(The families are chosen by the school.)

We enjoy doing this each year. Our church gives a gift card for them to buy meat, then we add all kinds of canned goods, snacks and fruit.

The children get one gift each that someone shops for and then they get mittens or gloves and winter caps.

It doesn't take that much to organize and take care of. The hardest part is the delivery. At Thanksgiving we convinced them to send someone to get it all because our usual person was not feeling well.

I'm not sure if we are maybe delivering this one next week.

so .. that's all I know!!

Tutu--Thanks for starting us off this week. The Christmas food donation sounds wonderful.

I went to church via Zoom. I do miss going to church in person and socializing afterwards with some good food, but I think it will be a long time before that happens.

I did a load of laundry.

Spent a long time on the phone with my mom.

Am being lazy as usual on a Sunday afternoon watching some football and reading.

Plan to watch A Holly Dolly Christmas on TV with Dolly Parton singing holiday classics tonight.

I did have a cup of hot chocolate this afternoon. Chilly and dreary out but no snow, yet.

Have a great week of movement! [woohoo]

Thanks TuTu for starting us off for the week! Wonderful to read how your church reaches out to those who are less fortunate and are struggling financially.

Hiker I'm so glad that you're having long phone visits with your Mom. I love hot chocolate myself and need to stock up on some more.

Sunday was a bit busy for me. Went to the grocery store to pick up a few things. Made a great salad and broccoli for dinner. Boiled up some red lentil rotini pasta to go with my extra spaghetti sauce that I had frozen.

Josh and I liked the different pasta but Mom not so much. My next box to try is made out of chickpeas.

I'm losing the battle with the cookies and chocolates that my Mom has set out for the holidays. If I'm fasting it's not an issue (go figure) but I justify it by telling myself that the cookies are thin and the chocolates are small. It'd be OK if I ate just one each......sigh......

Up early today for the bug guy who showed up at 8:15 and am waiting to take my Mom to her 11:00 PT for her back. After dropping off Mom might go look at some fabric to make a cover for Josh's large ottoman coffee table.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Ak--I can relate to losing the battle with holiday treats. A friend dropped off a card last night with 10 Hershey kisses in it. The kisses are all gone. [bonk]

Your different pastas sound good. I like chickpea pasta but haven't tried the red lentil kind. I usually stick with rice pasta as it is at the local store.

I did my knee exercises this morning.

Went for a walk this afternoon with my trekking poles.

Worked on my Bible study.

Grilled some pork chops.

Paid bills (why are there so many bills?)

Time to take out the garbage and get the can to the curb and dump my recycling in the kind neighbor's bin.

Then I need to ice my shoulder. It and my elbow have gone crazy the past few days.

Bread baking day - 9 loaves of white, 5 of wheat, 3 little loaves, 1 Teddy Bear bread, and 1 little round loaf.

Also did laundry. Its all washed & dried except 2 loads, but nothing got folded. I did hang the dresses & shirts on hangers right away so I don't need to iron them.

Finally got our cooking schedules set up again and they added a dish washing schedule also, since we don't have a dishwasher here. When we remodel the kitchen it will get a dishwasher. But that will probably be a long time till that happens.

Had a dusting of snow this morning with more flurries throughout the day. It all melted. Hoping we see some sunshine again. It just feels rather dreary on cloudy days. Not sure why it seems to bother me this year... Maybe because I can't get to my sewing machine yet?

Hopefully the boys can get some of the drywall brought in this evening and maybe they can get started at it tomorrow. It will be nice to have a second bathroom.

Should work on my Christmas cards instead of just think about it!

AK and hiker .. I LOST the battle over sweets. Trying to get some sanity back. lol

Ran some errands today and fixed filet mignon for supper.

Going to see a show tomorrow afternoon. Famous artist.

Weather is nice this week, but many here are ready for a few big snowfalls this winter. I pray we don't overdo the asking!

Tutu--Hope you enjoyed the show.

I slept in a bit.

Did my balance exercises and rode my exercise bike.

Went to the bank and to the library without getting out of the car. I had never gone through drive through banking until covid.

I worked on my Bible study.

Talked with mom twice. She is getting so forgetful, but sometimes I am unable to answer her questions.

I talked with my brother as it's his birthday today. He said he is just staying home.

Very dreary here today. 40 and cloudy. Will warn up for a few days, though.

Hiker it's my brother's birthday today also! He turned the big 6-0! What a coincidence! I sent him a birthday text earlier.

TuTu I wish I was at your house for dinner! I had tortilla chips, guacamole and cookies for dinner. Too lazy to cook today!

Manna you are a baking machine! My sister was the bread maker in our family and always made bread at Christmastime.

My shoulder and neck has been bothering me today so I just watched more Christmas movies today.

See everyone tomorrow!

Hiker .. Happy birthday to your brother!
My husband always goes inside to do his banking. I always go to the drive up, so no changes for me.

Our lobby was open for awhile, I think, but it's probably closed again. I really don't know.

Enjoy those talks with your mom. She sure is lucky to have you!

AK .. Happy birthday to your brother also!

I really enjoyed the show I went to yesterday. Tried to stay away from people and wear my mask, but I did get a pic with one of the stars because I heard her tell someone she had already had COVID.

Today, I have to run a few errands and then write my Christmas letter. Now that I've said that, maybe I'll actually get it done!

Manna .. keep baking that bread! My dad was the baker in our family. He was a cook/baker during WWII. My mom was great at making Christmas goodies. Oh my, the things she made!

I may get brave and make some divinity. I've never made it without her by my side, I don't think.

Manna--Most of the bread is for what you sale in the bakery, correct? Fresh bread sounds heavenly. The gluten free bread I sometimes buy is not that great unless I toast it and slather it in peanut butter.

I went grocery shopping this morning. Trying to stock up on some Christmas snacks but not eat them before Christmas.

I did my knee exercises.

Chatted with my mom.

My 20 minute nap turned into an hour nap. [Big Grin] I stayed up late last night watching Illini basketball and certainly made up for it this afternoon.

Off to do a little Bible study. Am zooming church tonight for a lesson on angels.

Yes the bread I'm baking is for selling at the store. Daughter said all of Tuesday's bread had sold but one loaf. She also said customers would like if it was sliced. So I will slice a few loaves with the next batch tomorrow.

Our internet went down yesterday and I finally figured out how to get on here using my new phone. Thankfully I have taken phone that works. My old one doesn't have service here. Most of us must get new phones. Service is limited in the mountains.

This evening the boys got the drywall upstairs to go into the bathroom tomorrow. Slowly but surely we're getting there! They finished wiring the receptacle and light switches today.

Yesterday I went out and raked some of the yard where my wash line will be. I ached today! But the yard looks nice where I got it raked. Still have a lot to do. We'll save the leaves to start a compost pile for mulch for the garden.

Got the phone number of a neighbor that has a plow and hopefully he can get it plowed yet before the ground freezes. It's supposed to warm up some the rest of the week. The sun came out today. They want sunshine the rest of the week.

My neck is better since my Mom stuck a magnet on it. Also she rubbed some Lidocaine and Volteran on my bad shoulder which helps.

Took Mom to her GP today. She fell in the kitchen Sunday night and he's ordered some hip and back xrays which we'll have done tomorrow. I think she's OK but better safe than sorry.

Ran a couple more errands then ate the tacos we picked up (Mom had a tamale) and ready for bed.

Hiker good luck with not eating the snacks! I'm still on cookie and chocolate patrol over here!

TuTu it'd be wonderful to make your Mom's divinity. I have a lot of my sister's cookbooks and Josh and I talk about making things out of them. One day soon I hope we actually do it!

Well....off to read or watch something on my Kindle.

Ak--Hope your mom is okay!

Sunny and 53 here today.

After Bible study via zoom, I did my balance exercises and went for short walk.

Filled a couple of the bird feeders. I just joined Project Feeder watch where you watch for your feeders for a certain amount of time twice a week and record the types and numbers of birds in a national database. Should be fun.

Went to the chiropractor. I have not been in some time as I have been trying to stay safe from covid, but I really needed an adjustment. And everyone was wearing masks and separated. I can wait in my car until the chiropractor is ready for me.

So, I am taking it easy the rest of the day so the adjustment holds.

Trouble sleeping because of my shoulder so up at 4:00 this morning. Showered then bought some breakfast and brought that home. Then off to the local grocery store and Sam's. Picked up Mom and took her to get her xrays. She said the xray table was painful to lay on.

From there we went back to the grocery store and she got her flu and pneumonia shots there. We also picked up 3 prime rib roasts for $5.49 a pound!

Mom finally let me order her a rollator with a seat from Amazon and should be here in about a week. She said that's what she used her birthday money on. Sounds like me getting myself a tune-up for Christmas! LOL!

Resorting to a pain pill and muscle relaxer tonight to get some sleep....hopefully.

Hiker participating in that database sounds really cool! Hope you feel better after your adjustment.

Hi TuTu! Made any divinity? I have a friend that makes fudge around Christmas. It is so delicious!

Well...off to finish watching Mama Mia II.

AK--How did your mom's x-rays turn out?

I did my knee exercises and then rode the exercise bike. Rainy today, so not walking.

Called my mom.

I have another splitting headache today, so I took an hour nap. I think it is sinus problems. ENT said I could benefit from sinus surgery, but I did not have it last year. May consider it in the future.

I made some blueberry muffins and had one with my scrambled eggs for lunch.

Fudge? Did someone say fudge? Yummy! [Big Grin]

Friday night is my evening off from cooking, so will probably pop a premade store bought cauliflower crust pizza in the oven. Last week I tried one (2 for 1 sale) and it stuck to the pan, so I need to grease the pan tonight, I guess.

Have a good Friday evening!

Hiker we've got sinus issues too! Me and Mom woke up with puffy and painful faces. I just took half a pain pill and muscle relaxer and coated my eyebrows and around my nose with tiger balm (ancient Chinese secret, lol) to get some relief.

Haven't heard about the xrays yet. My Mom's arms are sore from her pneumonia and flu vaccines yesterday and she's feeling puny. Hope and pray she'll be OK.

All I did today was take Mom to get her hearing aides serviced and then to her bank. Made brunch and did dishes. Mom made dinner which she didn't eat and I did dishes. It's 7:30 and we're both in bed.

Hope we feel better tomorrow!

AK .. no divinity because I found some in the store. It was not very good, though. Had to use a SPOON to get it out of the box. They were all stuck together. LOL.

I may still make some but I have to buy a thermometer for it .. and some Karo.

Hiker . . I hope you get rid of your headache soon. Do you use a neti pot?

I get to see one of my former students tomorrow! We will just do coffee (or HE will) and will be masked up. He's here from Texas with family members.

I guess I haven't seen him in about 40 years!

It was rainy today and will be cold and breezy tomorrow.

PS .. My friend from Kenya (plus two of his friends from Kenya) went ice skating today. I saw the video and it was hilarious. Poor guy has never even been roller skating, so you can imagine. LOL.

It's his birthday next week and his friend just graduated from college tonight.

Tutu-- I use a saline rinse every day for my sinuses.

Glad you got to visit with your student today.

AK--Hope both you and your mom feel better soon.

I did a load of laundry this morning.

Did my balance exercises.

Worked on Bible study.

Watched Illini football lose again. May listen to Illini basketball on the radio tonight.

Dreary chilly rainy day here.

Off to read now. Have a good evening.

Me and Mom still not feeling well. This is the second night that my little Mom isn't eating dinner. She didn't even eat half a hamburger at lunch/brunch. Wonder if it's from her vaccines?

I went and bought some blinds to put up in the dining and living rooms. Something else to add to my honey do list.

TuTu I made some candy apples for Josh and my brother and his family a couple years ago. First time I ever used a candy thermometer. Store bought is usually never as good as homemade. Amazing about your former student! You must have really made an impact on him since you all are meeting after 40 years! Have fun!

Hiker are you feeling any better? I just took a pain pill and muscle relaxer and added more magnets to my neck. Sure hoping that'll help.

Off to watch some TV and catch up on some news.
