Hi everyone! Here on our friendly thread we encourage one another to be as active as possible.

Some of our days are spent doing laundry, vacuuming or other household chores, which counts as exercise.

Gardening, horseback riding, walking, jogging, weight training are just some of the things we post.

So here we go with another week gang!

[woohoo]

Up about 5:30 and didn't exercise but did some prep work last night for the Korean dish I'm making tonight for dinner.

I'm making a dish called Bibimbap and has meat and vegetables on top of rice. It'll be 4 of us for dinner tonight, me, Mom, her BFF and Josh. Sure hope it comes out OK. It's only the 2nd time I've made it.

Other than that I'm just doing a load of laundry.

Josh is coming by early to go over my will and health and financial power or attorneys.

Looking forward to having company for dinner.

The dinner sounds very interesting, AK! Hope it turns out great!

At the end of our church service today, we had a "blessing" of cremains. One of my husband's musician friends passed away from cancer a few weeks ago.

He used to play for our Easter services every year and also was in some shows with my husband. He was a very good friend.

They will bury his ashes in another state, but his wife wanted us to bless the ashes before they left here. The producer of the show he was in also showed up to honor him.

We will definitely miss him.

We came home and I fixed some steaks. Now I'm seriously considering a nap!

We got a few showers last night.

Have a good day, everyone!

AK--Your meal sounds good. You are I are on the same wavelength. I am redoing my power of attorney for health care but need to get a witness to sign it.

Tutu--I haven't had a steak in ages. Yummy.

I watched church via Zoom. Church has opened but I am not comfortable going. About half the congregation went and half watched online.

Did a load of laundry.

Filled the bird feeders. Picked up branches in the yard from the severe storm we had last night.

Chatted with my mom and then my brother.

Bff came over and we had socially distant porch talk.

After dinner I cut buds off mums again so they don’t bloom too early. Deadheaded more coreopsis.

No steak?? That is scary to this Texan!

I usually buy 6 oz filet mignon at our meat market/grocery store and they had them on sale for $3.99 each.

Can't pass that up!

Watered a few plants but the rain we had Saturday meant I can hold off on watering most until tomorrow.

Went for a short walk.

Did my knee exercises.

Stopped at the library to drop off books and checkout 3 more. Love the curbside pickup.

Did miscellaneous paper like paying bills etc.

AK-hope you get test results soon.

Going to grill pork chops for dinner.

Did laundry today and hung it out to dry. Beautiful weather! Sunshine and breezy, low humidity. Had rain last evening, several showers.

Should go finish weeding my strawberry patch. But my hip has been complaining so I'm trying o be good to it.

Glad you got some rain, hiker. We got a little, but need more.

The weather was nice here too. Not as humid but they said the mold count was high.

I mostly spent my time doing embroidery. I'm not very happy about the towels I bought on Amazon. They are pretty thin.

I got a new shelf from a friend on Saturday (bought it from her) so I am trying to decide what goes on the shelf and what needs to be thrown away or put in the garage.

My great nephew just got his pilot's license! I think he's 20 years old.

No exercise yesterday. Today I did my 3 workout DVD's and used the lighter weights with one. Wasn't able to complete the facial or pelvic exercises today due to many phone calls.

My Mom and her BFF are negative for COVID-19. Mine was not done correctly and the report stated that they didn't have enough material to perform the test. Bummer. I'm hoping I'm negative too.

TuTu congrats to your nephew! Also I told my Mom about the price on those steaks and she couldn't believe it! We never have steaks for that price!

Manna I need to buy another retractable clothes line. We had one that went from one of the window frames to the shed but I removed it when we were sprucing up my Mom's house to sell.

Hiker when I had my reaction to Powerade and worring about the virus I just didn't want to wait any longer to get my affairs in order. I have an appointment Thursday to get everything signed, witnessed and notarized. My attorney texted me to let me know they wear masks and would I please wear one also. Hah! No problem there!

Well...getting ready to take my Mom to her GP appointment and then will drop off some lettuce and watermelon to Josh.

See everyone tomorrow!

AK—what a bummer you didn’t get the test performed right. I guess you don’t want to have it redone? So glad your mom and her friend tested negative.

Saw the orthopedic surgeon today. He wants me to go back to doing some shoulder exercises just to keep it tuned up and add weights to my leg raises.

So, I talked to my PT and she said just 2 days a week for shoulder and start with 1/4 pound on 5 leg raises and do the other 10 without weight. She wants me to be really cautious.

MD said he would do a platelet enriched plasma injection for knee to see if it helps. So, I will try that next week. Not covered by insurance but he was cheaper than other MD I was going to drive an hour to see. I am comfortable with him.

Talked to my brother again. Trying to get some power of attorney items changed for my parents so he and I are co-powers of attorney. Hard to do all this when they are still locked down in the retirement center.

I really need to get my new health power of attorney for signed and witnessed. I just downloaded it online. My will and power of attorney for finances are okay.

Went to chiropractor and will take it easy the rest of the day so adjustment holds.

Cut up, blanched, and froze a bushel of green beans today. Mine didn't come up very good in the garden this year, so my daughter brought some home from work.

Hoping to get some extra's from my sisters or sis-in-laws after they have enough.

This evening pulled more weeds in the strawberry patch until it got too dark. There is a big thistle I need to get a shovel to dig out. It hadn't gotten very tall yet, so was hiding in the strawberry plants. I found the outer leaves when I accidentally touched the spines!

Beautiful weather again today with low humidity. Our daughter cooked supper tonight - steaks on the grill - a first for her! - they tasted delicious, but were a tad tough. She also baked herbed home fries, fresh green beans, and garlic mushrooms.

Sonny cleaned out the chicken pen tonight. With all the rain we had, it leaked into the barn and made the chicken pen a watery soupy mess! When we get too much rain, too fast, it comes in over the chicken's door to the outside.

Hubby was feeling 'off' today. Hoping a foot detox will help clear things up for a better tomorrow.

What a bum deal, AK!! Will you do the test again?

Hiker .. I hope the injection helps~! I'm glad your PT is being cautious.

Manna .. I had visions of my aunt's chicken coup in my head!

I made a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up a few things. Most people are wearing masks. I still have not been to WalMart, which is my closest grocery store.

Took a short nap and I'm sleepy now.

Also worked on clearing out some papers. Just have to keep at it. Paper chasing is not my favorite chore.

See you guys tomorrow!

Went grocery shopping this morning.

Did my knee exercises.

Did a little trimming of bushes. Need to finish them up but started raining.

Worked on my Bible study.

Washed several loads of bedding today. Should go out & bring it all back in to put on the beds again. Nothing smells as nice as fresh line dried sheets!

Sonny cooked vegetable beef soup for supper tonight. He was asking me questions on how to do it. Turned out yummy!

Turned the air conditioner on again this afternoon. Its heating up again out there.

Worked out to my 3 DVDs and did my facial exercises and pelvic routine today. Also took the mailbox off the post and repainted it. Ran a couple of errands too.

It's almost impossible to get tested here since we're having an outbreak of Covid. No more drive through testing and appointments are taking 7-10 days and you have to prequalify with either symptoms or direct exposure. Basically we're running out of tests.

Manna I wanted to have soup tonight! I ended up eating a cup of instant mashed potatoes and some of my Mom's ramen noodles. Nary a vegetable in sight!

TuTu big, crowded stores stress me out! My brother told me someone he knows passed away from the virus. He couldn't believe it! They thought he was getting better so was taken off the ventilator and 24 hours later was put back on it but he didn't make it. He was in his 40's.

Hiker kudos on being so active! It's getting unbearably hot down here and harder to do stuff outside. I was sweating up a storm just dinking around with the mail box today.

Well....time for bed....I'm starting to nod off! Night all!

[sleepy]

AK .. After my friend's experience with COVID (two friends, actually), I take it very seriously.

Both came close to dying. One is 69 and one is 30.

I have a friend in FL with Covid (double pneumonia) isolating at her home. Her spouse is in the hospital with Covid and her elderly mom who lives with them is in the ICU with Covid. Praying big time. Makes me scared to go to my 3 appointments next week.

I did my balance exercises this morning.

Had a great Bible study via Zoom.

Trimmed back the yew in the corner of the yard. When I planted it years ago, it was tiny. Now it is right up against the fence.

Took a nap.

Am reading this evening. Have 6 books I need to pick up the library soon after I finish these 3. They all came in to the hold section at once, of course. [Big Grin] Instead of the 3 week checkout for large print, they have gone to 2 weeks. Some of these I have had on hold since March.

Last night we had tornado warnings, so hopefully tonight will be much calmer.

We had a church council meeting this afternoon.

Then I spent all day and half the night monitoring our city council meeting online.

They were going to vote on mandating masks, but they chickened out.

The public was allowed to speak and to ask questions and that took about 7 1/2 to 8 hours. So the excuse was that the council members were tired and wanted to just go home.

Whatever!

Hiker .. That's terrible about your friends. I have a cardiology appointment on Monday. I decided to keep it .. now I'm wondering!! The only person I will be close to is the PA and the nurse .. eeek!!

Worked out to my DVDs, did my facial exercises and pelvic routine.

Picked up Josh and headed to the attorney's office to go over, sign and pick up my will, power of attorney and advance directive. I'm so relieved that's done!

TuTu I'm so glad that your friends are OK! My brother mentioned complications people are having afterwards and I think he's a bit worried.

Hiker I'll be praying for your friends too! Is it hot in your neck of the woods? The heat is horrible down here and I can barely manage any yard work.

Off to read too!

AK--Heat is building for the weekend along with the humidity. Is your brother feeling better. My godson is well now and going to donate blood for antibodies for covid patients in a few weeks.

Did my knee exercises and my shoulder exercises.

Made some phone calls to get appointments and some were rearranged. I wanted to get as many appointments in as possible soon as Covid cases are rising here pretty quickly. But are still a month away.

Former colleague, her husband, and her parents now have it. She still teaches. School starts in a month.

Got my hair cut. Different place than I usually go and although my haircut was fine and only $14, I wasn't comfortable because it was a large salon. Maybe be a long time before the stylist I go to in the retirement center opens to the public again, so I thought I would get my cut very short now.

Did a bit of cooking this afternoon but froze most of it. May pick up dinner at a restaurant tonight.

AK .. I can't imagine working in the yard where you are. I can barely handle going to get my mail here. It's in the low 90's but extremely humid.

hiker .. Can you find a small salon? Thankfully, my salon is very small. Usually only one or two stylists.

I went out briefly today to Walgreen's .. ugh, so hot.

Tomorrow a neighbor is having a wedding reception (small, of course) here and we will go inside to get food and cake and then sit outside in a condo garage that will have fans.

We also have an outdoor seating area, but I'm not sure if that is where everyone will congregate, or what.

I don't think I'll last long enough to eat cake. It's at 1 pm!!!!

Did all my exercises and right before sunset started to cut grass with the dreaded reel mower. All my outside motion detector lights came on while I was finishing up the backyard. Was only outside a little over an hour thank God!

Bought some things at Home Depot today to do more things outside. I bought some kind of citrus based paint stripper that I'm hoping will help me remove old paint drips from the exterior bricks. Also picked up a 55 gallon tote that I'm going to try to turn into a rain barrel.

Hiker my brother already went back to work this week. He says he's better but he's a bit raspy. I'm kinda enjoying picking up food and eating at home. Josh does it all the time. His generation seems to do that and binge watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. alot!

TuTu I'm supposed to grill some chicken outside for Sunday dinner but I think it's going to be 98°! Might just sear it and cook with indirect heat so I don't have to be out there to long. Hope I don't burn it! Stay cool at the reception!

Off to watch some TV!

Watered new bushes and my flowers today. Did a bit of weeding Very hot so I didn’t last long outside.

Picked up 7 books at the library. Have 2 weeks to read them. However, they just got rid of fines for overdue books, so I am not going to feel bad if they are a tad late. Also, the library now automatically renews the ones that no one else has on hold.

Did my balance exercises.

Cooked and did one load of laundry.

Worked on my Bible study and then took a short nap.

Time to read.

Washed gloves, table cloths, towels and pillow cases today.

Pulled the rest of the weeds under the pine tree and the few weeds growing in my potted fruit trees.

Working on cleaning out some corners in the house where its air conditioned.

Its hot out there this afternoon! One of the boys said "it sure is hot - look, the thermometer says 106!" In afternoon the sun lays in against the thermometer so it shows much hotter than it really is.

I went to the wedding reception and stayed about 20 min. All my friends were busy inside serving food, etc .. All the people outside were guests that I didn't know.

It was about 90 degrees with like 90% humidity .. maybe higher, I didn't look.

Then hubby and I went up to church and I got the communion ready for tomorrow.

We took a quick drive down the main drag just to see what was going on down there. Fairly busy with tourists, but not like usual.

I'm getting tired of this COVID thing .. how about you?

It's so weird that the stores are still out of some things. Things you wouldn't expect them to be out of.

Mom and I went to our local favorite indoor flea market. We bought a couple of old steel and vinyl chairs to go on our front porch. Now we have 4 all together. We're going to buy outdoor fabric to cover them.

I found a hand thrown deep dish pie pan and a curved metal stand for candles. Making it into a small birdbath. It's so cute!

Prepped my teriyaki chicken and made salad and a taziki dressing for tomorrow. Also cooked some beluga lentils to go in the salad to beef up the protein.

Oh and waited til 9:00 to water plants and the lawn so the heat was bearable that late.

TuTu I'm so tired of Covid too! I'm noticing shortages down here also. I still can't find the larger size liquid hand soap so we switched to Ivory bar soap.

Hiker bet I could cook the chicken right on the driveway! BTW, thanks so much for the recipe! Can't wait to try it. Wonder if I could substitute brown rice flour for the white?

Manna sounds like a linens day for you. I might have to go outside in spurts since it's getting to hot. When I was younger I'd just hose myself down and keep working. Now that I'm older that's not working like it used too. Drats!

Off to read.....
