Well .. does taking a nap count??

I fell asleep about 3:15 and woke up 2 hours later. It was DARK! AARRRGH!!

I hate "saving" daylight, only to LOSE it.

We had a great day at church. The young man we have been teaching in Sunday School for about 7 years was Confirmed in our church. He did really well and we are so proud of him.

He's very smart and has low level autism. He was adopted at age 5 by relatives that are my age. He chose Psalm 27 as his "verse."

It contains the phrase "though my parents forsake me" .. breaks my heart!

I have a lot to do this week .. This Saturday is our packing party for OCC!!! Can't wait!! We are SO READY!!!

Part of Psalm 27:

Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
10 When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take care of me.

11 Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
12 Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries;
For false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as breathe out violence.
13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.

14 Wait[e] on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Thanks Hiker for starting us off for the week! Very busy day cooking dinner for 8 family members. Everything was perfect but a bit awkward with some family drama. Sigh....

TuTu I've used that same verse before in my own life. Very sad about that young man but he's in God's hands now.

I'm exhausted and ready for bed! See you guys tomorrow!

Finished cleaning up after the family dinner and have been trying to get some rest. My sinuses are still giving me problems and my air purifier/ionizer should be delivered tomorrow. I can't wait!

Watching the news to see what's going on with the election. Josh is coming over tomorrow so we'll just pick up tacos, etc. and watch the election results.

Hope everyone is doing OK and I'll check back in tomorrow!

AK—Doubt we will know election votes tomorrow. Too many mail in ballots to count.

Drove over to my mom’s. Did a ton of recycling and tossing of Dad’s things. Plus a lot of papers/catalogs that mom had hanging around.

Got temporary death certificates from funeral home.

Going to try and relax tonight except mom is watching TV and it is so loud.

Service is tomorrow and then a lot more clean out. I started organizing dad’s clothes but ran out of energy.

I dread a LONG wait for the results. GAG me. Will probably be a roller coaster and none of us are ready for that.

Hiker .. May God give you peace and strength for tomorrow and forward.

We voted yesterday. Crazy people standing too close together. At least most had masks on.

Had Bible study at 11 then worked on boxes. Just got home about 3:45.

Have a great evening and stay safe!!

Service yesterday for dad was beautiful.

Did a lot of clean out of dad’s things to charity.

Today going through mom’s files and trying to shred and downsize what is a huge mess.

Been walking a lot to car and recycle bin and shredder.

Have a good evening.

Cut up and bake 4 pumpkins today. They were left outside and the temps have been reaching freezing. Didn't want to loose them, so now they are ready for the freezer.

Have plenty for the pies for Thanksgiving and enough extra to make some bars or something. I used the last of the pumpkin to make a pumpkin custard. It smells delicious in here!

Started sorting through and restacking things in the shed this afternoon. Put the plastic lawn furniture in the shed for winter.

Sonny was out mowing until a belt came off. He managed to get it back on but didn't get anymore mowing done.

This morning one of the boys was building shelves to put in another shed for the tools and such. Slowly but sure we are getting things done.

Still having sinus issues even with the air purifier going. I'm using tea tree oil too under my nose and on my puffy face.

Went and paid bills for my Mom and did some shopping for her. Watched TV and switched it back and forth to a couple of news channels to see how things are going with the election.

Hiker I'm happy to hear that your Dad's service went so well. So you're staying with your Mom? I'm relieved that you can stay with her and take care of your Dad's things and sort through the paperwork. Sending hugs!!!

TuTu when Josh and I did early voting folks were to close together. I'm glad we wore masks. Can't wait for election results too!

Manna boy does that pumpkin custard sound good! I've never made a from scratch pumpkin pie. I either buy one already made or a frozen one that I bake. My SIL makes a great from scratch pumpkin pie but I think she buys frozen pie crusts. I love the holidays with all the baking and cooking!

Well....off to find something to read.

AK, my mom has a easy recipe for pumpkin pie or custard. Everything gets put in the blender. I like making the custard, no need for a crust. I think I'll buy crusts this year - its easier. Mom always made them from scratch.

Today I picked 4 more saffron flowers. I think that brings the count up to 9 now.

Washed a couple loads of laundry. 2 loads of towels, 1 of bedding. Sonny did a lod of his clothes after he'd been out mowing & trimming. He wants to avoid poison ivy.

We stepped off the measurements of the garden area and put some wood blocks at the corner. Now need to let the neighbor know we're ready for him to plow it.

Planted the pennyroyal tea and the sage tea this afternoon.

Hubby & the boys sawed a dead tree down today. Its a walnut tree, but not very big around and partly rotten so won't be very much good wood for making lumber. They did cut a few pieces longer hoping it can be used.

While my brother met with the attorney and went to banks today, I went through every drawer in the house to clean out items not needed.

Walked over 2 miles back and forth to recycling room at retirement center.

My brother and his wife are visiting with a friend tonight and I am going to eat some potato chips and have a glass of wine. Totally exhausted.

Think I will head home tomorrow afternoon and let my brother have mom all to himself tomorrow night.

Please pray for mom. She is such a mess that she is not understanding basic bills and we will need to set up automatic payment but need some forms signed and she doesn't want to sign them.

I will say that my sister-in-law has been a godsend through all this and we have had some good chats.

Not feeling great today so just lounged around. Sinus issues and putting something my Mom calls Tiger Balm on my forehead and on the sides of my nose. Also I've been using NasalCrom religiously.

TuTu I bought the book Toxic after reading your post on the MCAS thread. I'm hoping it'll help me figure out some mold remedies. Good luck with the boxes!

Hiker is that what you had for dinner? Chips and wine? You must be wore out! I'm glad that your SIL is being such a big help for you! And your brother! Wow! I hope that what you're Mom is going through is just temporary due to grief. Sending you all hugs and prayers!

Manna I never thought of doing crustless. What a great idea! I'm all for putting everything in the blender. You all are really chipping away at making your new place home. Love to hear about it too!

Well...off to jump in the shower.

Manna--My mom made the best pumpkin chiffon pie ever. I have the recipe but sometimes worry because it uses raw eggs. However, you can make it with a crust or without.

Ak--I had dinner before cheese, wine, and chips. LOL

I worked a bit more on cleaning out mom's file cabinet and then showing her where everything is. I know she will forget and make new files and it will be a mess soon, but I felt good about it at least.

Then I bid my mom, brother and sister-in-law farewell today. We decided I would leave first and they would work on finances at banks and then they would spend the evening with mom and they will leave tomorrow. That way she doesn't go from seeing all of us to nobody in a few hours.

I did grocery shopping.

Filled my bird feeders.

Worked on odds and ends like uploading pics to computer and trying to contact clinic and hospital that mom uses to see if they would send any bills straight to my brother. She is struggling to make sense of anything right now.

I paid some of my own bills. LOL

I didn't think to defrost anything when I got home and my groceries were mainly produce, so I will have a frozen gluten free pizza for dinner and a salad.

Hiker, could you give your mom's recipe? I like finding new recipes.

Had 2 more saffron flowers today.

Did laundry, still need to fold most of it.

Peeled and cooked the sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving. They were rather disappointing, the middles weren't solid. These I bought, the few I have left from last years garden are still nice.

The boys sawed up the tree & branch they cut down yesterday and chipped the little branches & twigs.

Hubby's knee is still bothering him. He did ask to have a wrap put on it this afternoon. Said it helped. He's not limping as bad as he was at first anymore, so it is better.

Supper is cooking. I made rice, a mix of wild & white at daughters request, mixed vegetables, & meat loaf. With pumpkin custard for dessert!

Figured out the online banking thing. Now need to get some funds transferred from the old bank to the new one & close those accounts.

Next week my cousin is coming over, so we need to get some more boxes unpacked and a place ready for her to sleep. I'm excited to hear what she thinks of what we got done since she was here.

I still am feeling bad and decided to spend time outside getting some fresh air. I washed my Mom's car, scrubbed and hosed off the front porch, treated the yard with Revive in the hopes of softening the sand and rock hard soil, watered the stuff in and went and picked up some groceries.

Now I'm watching the news......might have to find something else to watch!

Hiker relieved to hear you're eating more than chips! I sure hope and pray that your Mom is going to be OK. I know you'll be talking with her on the phone regularly and I'm sure that'll help.

Manna your dinner sounds delicious! I was thinking about meatloaf just yesterday! I haven't made one in years and I'd have to use my old cookbook to make one. Wonderful that you have family coming for a visit.

TuTu are your hands cramping from stuffing all the OCC boxes? How many are you all shooting for this year? Awesome outreach program!

I haven't watched the news for long and I'm sick of it already! Time for a nice chick flick or something!

See you all tomorrow!

Slept in a bit this morning.

Did a load of laundry.

Took Dad's old nonworking laptop to electronic recycling.

Talked with my Georgia friend. [Smile]

Then my good friend in town came over to chat in the yard. 70 and sunny. Perfect for a visit. She teaches and they expect with the huge number of covid cases to go back from in person learning to remote soon.

Another friend, who is a PT assistant, has covid now. She lives with her elderly mom who now has it and her daughter and granddaughter in the same house have it. Scary.

Am watching the Illini get creamed by Minnesota in football. Starting players out due to covid again.

Going to relax tonight with a book and a tv show.

Started with the remodel in the upstairs bathroom today. Tore out the closet and the wall. Want to put a shower in and a nice sized closet.

Did 2 more loads of wash.

Got the shoe 'boxes' into place and emptied the box of shoes! We had cut a piece of plywood and made a row of 5 'boxes' to slide a pair of shoes into it. At our other house, the boxes were in the stairway at the landing. It was space saving.

The bottom only had 2 boxes, the next had 3 and the next had 5. Each row fit on the next step up. The shoes were out of the living area, and you didn't need to run upstairs for your shoes.

Here we put them beside the laundry door, until we decide on a better spot. The landing here is near the top of the stairs. We'd like to repaint the stairway before we put anything there.

Picked 1 saffron flower today - had 4 yesterday.

Tonight the boys made a fire in their new firepit and roasted hot dogs for supper. We opened a can of baked beans, my daughter made mac & cheese and I made some deviled eggs. Some marshmallows got toasted too!

Now they are out there taking pictures of the stars! They are sure there are more stars here! A lot less light pollution here.

Still feeling blah and wearing my heavier mask in the house now. Believe it or not, I feel better with the mask on so it must be helping with our mold problem. I even slept with it on last night. I bought a new ozone/ion air purifier but it hasn't helped. My face is still swollen. Ugh!

I managed to blanch some frozen broccoli, chop a red onion and mixed it together with a can of dark red kidney beans and homemade Italian dressing for tomorrow's dinner.

Also found some ground beef in the outside freezer so I'm going to make a meatloaf Manna. Sure hope it comes out OK. I'm also making mac and cheese tomorrow!

The fire pit meal sounds like so much fun and delicious to boot!

That storage idea for stairs sounds like a great idea!

I also chatted with a friend this afternoon Hiker! We're on the same page again! BTW, I hope your friend and her family will be OK. It's awful that the whole household now has Covid.

TuTu have you regained the use of your arms yet? LOL! That's a whole slew of boxes! OCC rocks!

Well....guess I'll sleep in the guest room again. Seems to be less moldy in there....sigh...

Night all!
