Good morning and welcome to the exercise thread!

Are you out gardening, mowing the lawn, walking, hiking, running, sweating at the gym, etc.?

We like to post just about any activity that gets us moving, to encourage one another to be more active.

So...here we go with another active week!

[woohoo]

Hi there Hiker! I was reading your post from yesterday and I need to get out in the yard myself! My hoses are still out too and I need to trim back the boxwoods and hydrangea. There's sticks and small limbs that need to be picked up also. I just made some coffee so hoping it'll help me get moving! Catch you later!

Hey, gang!! (and thanks, AK!!)

Yesterday I ran a few errands and also stopped in at my friend's garage sale a few times. The weather was great and she sold most of her stuff.

She had a lot since she is the one who just moved upstairs a few months ago. She sold about $25 for me. I was happy to get rid of some things!

This morning I got my second morning glory bloom. I guess they don't last long because the other one is closed up now.

I don't think we will have anymore frosts or freezes for at least a week.

My brother and his wife are coming next week .. the 26th .. so I'm getting excited.

Our neighbor is coming to install our drawer pulls and cabinet pulls for us on Monday or Tuesday. YAY!!!! I've always hated not having any pulls on the cabinets. (40 of them!)

That will be extra work cleaning out the drawers .. but not bad since I have already cleaned them out in the past month or so.

See ya later.

Tutu--40 cabinets? Wow!

Very brisk drizzly day here.

Went to church via zoom.

Did a load of laundry.

I did get outside to fill the finch feeder and pick up books at the library.

Also went to pick up my prescription.

Called mom and talked briefly. Called dad and had aide hold phone to his ear so I could read Psalm 23 to him.

Recorded the Bears football game so off to watch it now.

40 ... if you count all drawers and all cabinets.

Nice idea to read Psalm 23 to your dad!! I can't remember if I did that for my mom. I may have.

I sang Christmas songs to her and especially "Lo! How a Rose E're Blooming."

It brings me to tears now.

I just looked it up and found out it's a German song. I didn't even know that!!

My errand running took longer than I thought so didn't do any yard work today. I grilled some steaks, made some brussel sprouts and baby potatoes. Josh was not feeling well so I dropped dinner off for him. He had a stomach bug and some sinus congestion so didn't want to get us sick.

TuTu glad you made $25 at the yard sale. Nice that your other brother and wife are coming for a visit. Also thanks for the link to the song. I enjoyed it!

Hiker thank goodness they hold the phone for your Dad so he can hear your voice. I know your Mom must have really enjoyed talking with you too. Hope she's adjusting to being by herself. Sending a hug!

Well....off to watch some TV.

I did my knee exercises this morning.

Went for a very short walk. Wore my ear band and gloves. Brr.

Zipped to the ATM and back to the library.

Spent some time on the phone with health related matters for my dad. Got in touch with funeral home to get some advance information. Sounds morbid but with covid services will be totally different.

My brother said his goodbyes and was doing financial stuff at banks for mom and dad and running into more obstacles. He will stay another day and then head back to Georgia Wednesday.

He has so many appointments lined up for financial stuff and lawyer tomorrow, that I probably will not drive over to see him. The weather is not nice enough to share a meal outside and we refuse to eat inside restaurants right now. But I talked to him and his wife on the phone. They sound exhausted.

I will grill burgers for dinner and then read.

Didn't do a thing all day. Have a headache from a muscle spasm in my neck. I've had this problem off and on since a car wreck in the early 80's. The other 2 accidents I've had hasn't helped at all.

So it's a pain pill, muscle relaxer and magnet day for me.

Hiker I don't blame you for wanting to be prepared and calling the funeral home. I've gone over my Mom's paperwork with her and in particular her prepaid funeral plans. I'm glad that your brother is helping as much as he can. I had leftover brussel sprouts for dinner and wish I was at your house for dinner! LOL!

See you guys tomorrow!

Hiker .. very very wise to be calling. I hope you and your brother feel a peace for having said your good-byes.

AK .. I'm sorry your neck is in a spasm. I've had several whiplashes too. Two of them were pretty severe, so I know the pain!!

I need to get to bed soon because my upstairs guy is coming to install the cabinet hardware in the morning. He's coming early because I'm supposed to work on shoe boxes at church at 10:00.

At 2, I have a hair appointment. Glad for that!!

I've been clearing out the front part of all the drawers in the past hour. Ready to go now.

See you guys tomorrow!

Ak--Ouch on the neck issue.

Tutu--How do you like your new cabinet hardware?

Manna--What home projects are keeping you busy?

Another cool drizzly day.

I did my balance exercises and I did get a walk in.

It is a roller coaster type of autumn. Yesterday it was 43 and Thursday it will be almost 80 before taking a nose dive.

I worked on my Bible study for quite a while.

Talked to my brother and made my now daily call to my mom.

Time to read for fun.

Well another day of sitting around. After meds and adding another magnet my neck is better today and so far no headache.

Hoping to get back in the saddle tomorrow!

TuTu I hope the new hardware project went well. I need to break out my clippers and trim my own hair soon. I noticed one side is longer than the other but hope it's not to noticeable.

Hiker I'm glad that you're talking with your Mom every day. Bet she looks forward to having someone to talk with.

Back to watching Bonanza with Mom!

Not sure what I actually accomplished today....
Washed a load of jackets and dried them.

Made fried potatoes & reheated peas & chicken for lunch.
Called the bank about opening accounts here.
Talked with my sis-in-law and a friend today.
Cooked supper - chili, cornbread and apple crisp.

Hubby sanded a little at the drywall patch job & set up a fan to help the rest dry completely.

Fixed the door jamb to the bathroom. It didn't latch correctly.

Sent a couple of the children to the store for more water. We need to buy drinking water here and we are finding out how much water a family uses!

Two of the children started their new jobs this week. They are tired till they get home.

Saw numerous birds at the feeders daughter filled - chickadees, nuthatch, woodpecker, cardinals. Also saw the cat sitting on top of the post waiting for the birds to come to the feeder! Silly cat!

Need to get more boxes emptied and the closet's packed with stuff. The pathways are slowly widening in here!

Yesterday I got a lot done.

Went grocery shopping.

Did my knee exercises.

Trimmed a few bushes and cut down half the hostas to the ground.

Put away patio furniture and hoses.

Zipped to library again.

I had Bible study this morning.

Did my balance exercises.

Am heading the 70 miles to see my dad in the nursing home and then my mom outside. Sunny, warm, but windy.

Yesterday got a few more boxes unpacked. Sorted through the dishes in the cupboards and repacked the ones we don't use very often. My cupboard space is limited compared to our old place.

Took an afternoon nap.

Ordered free seed catalogs to come to our new address.

Did two loads of laundry.

Gabbed on the phone with my sis-in-law. She had checked our old mail box and we went through it & decided what is trash and which pieces she should mail to us. Only 3 pieces!

Cooked supper using recipes from a Taste of Home cookbook, Chili Spaghetti, which baked in the oven, Curry Cole Slaw, and Cappuccino Muffins. I didn't make muffins, don't know where the pans are yet, it tasted good as a cake instead!

Hubby worked at his drywall patch job, and helped Sonny fix the 4 wheeler.

Sonny cleaned off the back porch and set up a workbench for fixing things. Looks very nice & organized.

I couldn't post on Lymenet yesterday. I kept getting an error message. I did some major grocery shopping yesterday.

Today I spent about 4 hours pruning back the boxwoods and our lonely hydrangea. Picked up limbs and sticks, pulled weeds and raked around the boxwoods. I'm exhausted and sore!

Manna you all sound so busy! My sister used to love Taste of Home recipes. Your dinner sounded delicious!

Hiker I see we're basically doing the same things! I actually put up 2 sprinklers and cleaned the connector hose and put them in the shed. I know I'm gonna be sore tomorrow from pruning so plan on taking it easy. Hope and pray your Mom and Dad are doing OK.

Well....off to rest my aching arms!

Today we planted the grape vines I had started from seed. Also planted the tea plants we brought along. 3 kinds of tea - applemint, peppermint, spearmint.

It was nice & warm today. Had the windows & door open. Closed the door when the yellow jackets started coming in.

Two of the children went shopping this afternoon. Checked out the stores here - an Ollies, Goodwill, Walmart. Got some treasures - throw rugs for our bedroom floor, curtain rods, flannel sheets for the girls. Pizza for supper!!

Hubby took the 4 wheeler and went around checking things out where he wasn't able to go before. Worked at his office walls again.

The girls are getting the office ready to paint. There is a little space of wallpaper on one side that needs to come off first. Why when you want it to come off, it sticks on tight??

Manna, getting wallpaper off is the worst job. Once I finally got all the wallpaper off my walls after I moved in years ago, I vowed to never use wallpaper!

Saw my dad yesterday and was at peace sitting beside him reading Bible verses and talking about fun times together. I like to think he can hear me, even though he is unresponsive.

Then went and sat outside with mom. She is so broken up about dad. Makes me sad.

Today I did my knee exercises.

Ran a quick errand to grab some supplements and fill the car with gas.

Temperature dropped 20 degrees from this morning, and the rain and wind picked up.

Great afternoon for a nap and I slept for an hour. Felt heavenly.

I am going to watch Big 10 football tonight. I, of course, root for my alma mater, the University of Illinois.

We got the last of the paint on the office wall. He started moving things into place late afternoon. Will take a little time to get it all arranged.

Did the laundry today. Still using the dryer as we didn't get the poles in yet. We had to clean the briars off first and now there's hardly any grass there because of all the briars. So we should seed grass first.

It seems so many things when you start at it, then you need to do this first, and then that too yet, before the simple little thing can be done! Or what seemed like a simple little thing!

Had beautiful summer like weather today. Painted a chair and Daughter painted the drawer fronts of her dresser to match the paint in her bed room.

Sonny did some mowing, he is getting braver about mowing on hills.

Got a few more boxes taken care of today.

The neighbor who collects scrap metal stopped by today to take along the scraps we collected. Found some when they were cleaning out the sheds.

Made mashed potatoes, hamburger gravy, green beans, and bread & butter pickles for supper tonight. The boys thought we should have cookies or something for dessert. I told them they can bake some cookies! So far nobody has.

Hiker .. I had doctors tell me to speak to my mother when she had her last devastating stroke. Doctors believe the patient can hear even if they are unconscious.

I know I've heard of recovered patients saying that.

I hope your continued conversations with your mother will help her get through the next few weeks or months.

Manna .. you are making good progress!!

I'm not happy about my post that didn't make it here. I refuse to try to re-create it. LOL.

Went to church today to help my friend change the paraments on the altar.

I've also been making ornaments for my OCC team members.

Took my CD's out of about 40-50 CD cases and put them in "sleeves." That way I can fit more of them in my car. I'm storing all the cases in the garage.

Some of them are autographed and I just can't give them up. (yet)

Very tough day. My father passed away this afternoon. He was 97. Spent a lot of time making phone calls.

Will meet with funeral director tomorrow and have permission to stay with my mom tomorrow night at the retirement center. She wanted space today.

Funeral service not until November 3 when my brother can come back up from Georgia.

I did go outside and pull up my frost bitten marigolds. Did 2 loads of laundry.

Going to be a vegetable on the couch tonight.

So sorry for your loss, Hiker. Gld they will let you spend time with your mom tomorrow. I'm sure it'll be comforting to have you with her.

Today we got our new bank accounts set up. Also stopped at 3 stores, Ace hardware, Dollar General, and Napa Auto parts.

Daughter got some bird seed & suet cakes for the birds. Also got a shelf & brackets for above her desk. Sonny got the spark plugs he needed for the 4 wheeler.

Baked 2 cakes this afternoon - an apple cake & a chocolate cake. Put a loaf of bread in the bread machine. I usually just mix and let it rise in there and then shape & bake in in regular pans in the oven. Just tucked the bread into the oven to bake!

Got a few more boxes emptied and more bookshelves set up & filled. Did a couple more loads of laundry.

One of the boys has poison ivy and is rather miserable with it. On his neck, under his chin, on his hands & arms. I'm guessing it was from the weed eatering he did. I think they will all shower after doing something like that after this.

Have a few more boxes I want to take care of yet tonight.

Was cloudy all day and had some showers today. The temps are dropping some.

Hiker I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Father. I'm so glad that you spent time with him yesterday. (((HUG)))

Ran a couple of errands today, picked up tacos for dinner and spent time on the phone this evening.

Almost recovered from my stint in the yard. Arms and legs feeling much better. Sheesh I'm getting old! Can't work as hard as I used too.

TuTu I have CD's that I can't get rid of yet. Now I have a turntable and need to start fleshing out my record collection.

Manna all your baking sounds so good! My sister used to be the baker in the family. She used to make the best homemade yeast bread and would bake me a German chocolate cake for my birthday.

Good night everyone!
