I went to church via Zoom. Great sermon today about humility; also renewed baptismal vows.

I did my final load of laundry for the week.

I talked to mom for quite a while and then to my BFF.

Finished a good book by Michael Connelly. You know that when you read a book and you really don't want it to end that it was a good book.

I am having a salad and tortilla soup for dinner.

Then watching some Illini Basketball and taping Masterpiece Theater (series on All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot begins tonight)

True about books, hiker.

What channel has Masterpiece Theater?

We got home from Texas Saturday afternoon. Been busy, stocking up and washing clothes. Also cooked dinner tonight.

While we were in Houston, I made more embroidered kitchen towels for family and friends. They really loved them.

My cousin told me she was going to frame it. I said if you are going to do that, then I'll make another for your kitchen!!

We had a scary thing happen north of Dallas on Friday night. Thought we were finally "safe" after escaping Dallas traffic. By this time, it was dark.

Then the traffic backed up and we eventually were forced to exit the freeway. There was an accident not very far ahead of us.

When we finally passed the wreck, there are were about 4 fire trucks and tons of firemen, plus other emergency vehicles of all types.

We managed to see only part of what had happened, but what we saw made me cry. A pickup had flipped upside down and the cab was totally crushed. We don't know if more vehicles were involved.

[Frown]

We arrived at our destination about 15 minutes after passing the wreck. It's a town we have been stopping at the past few trips. Good motel, etc.

So .. the rest of the trip on Saturday was just fine, thank goodness.

This afternoon 3 of us went for a walk along with the dog. Walked about 2 miles. Had sunshine again today, but was cold. Till we got back I was wishing I'd taken my gloves along.

Picked up a few pine cones off the road, hoping there are some seeds in them to grow a few pine trees on our land. We haven't found any except for one baby one.

An old neighbor called me this evening and we gabbed about 3 hours!

Thanks Hiker for starting us off this week! Nice to hear about your vows and sermon. I know exactly what you mean about book endings. Sometimes I just take a deep breath and say 'wow! wow!' and clutch the book to my chest.

TuTu that sounds like a horrific accident! I always pray for car accident victims when I come across one. It must have been very upsetting and scary! Thank goodness you're home safe and sound!

Manna that 3 hour chat counts as exercise! Hearing about your walk is very motivating!

Today Mom and I just watched a movie and went to the PX where I purchased a new HP laptop. My old one was 6 years old and running way to slow. Thank God for Christmas cash and an incredible sale!

Worked on my new dash cam that Josh bought me and will set that up tomorrow. It has a front and rear camera and is easy to transfer to another vehicle.

Been polishing off the leftover hors d'oeuvres and Christmas cookies.... [shake]

See you all tomorrow!

AK--Bet you will love the new dash cam.

I need to get out and walk. Knee is complaining so I have been lazy about it.

I did do my knee exercises today.

Went to bank and library.

Worked on Bible study.

Need to take out garbage and recycling. Then it's reading time after dinner.

Baking day. Have all of the white bread baked. The wheat bread is still rising. Got a later start than I intended, and tried a different way of doing things. Tried making bigger batches to have more ready to bake at the same time. Takes time to learn new routines.

Woke up the this morning to somebody standing beside my bed, saying 'meow? Meow?' When I rolled over to see which cat it was, she jumped up on my pillow. She scooted in the door when they left for work this morning. Son said he decided he's not going to take time to go find her.

Sonny got a few more things rearranged in the one shed so more things fit in better. He said it got cold out there!

Must go check those pans of rising bread and finish slicing the cooled loaves. It was time to sit down for a few minutes.

Didn't realize my new laptop isn't a touch screen but that's OK. I'll have to get used to not having one. The keys are much easier to press and I can type much faster!

I went to the bank today too Hiker. I drove Mom there for her to make some payments then drove her home.

I set up my new dash cam (love it) and went and picked up a couple groceries and also shopped for a much needed puffer vest. Also scored a great deal on some Marmot gloves that I can use with my cellphone. Also scored a black sequined vest and another hat at a thrift store.

Hiker I really need to start doing some type of exercise. I might start with some gentle isometrics.

Manna you are a bread making machine! Do you have to knead all the bread by hand? That would be an awesome workout!

Time to rustle up a cup of cocoa. Night all!

Manna--I am dying for a grilled cheese sandwich on wheat bread! Wish I was not gluten free.

Putzed around this morning doing little jobs around the house.

Went to Dollar General to get a birthday card for my aunt who turns 96 next week.

Did my balance exercises.

Sunny day here finally. Started out for a walk but the trees are losing their ice and I was getting pelted so didn't go far at all.

Think I will grill burgers on my electric grill tonight.

Off to do the crossword puzzle now.

I use my Kitchenaid mixer to mix up the bread. So I only need to punch the dough down and then shape it into loaves and let it rise again.

Today, ordered supplements we needed. Did laundry, have most of it done, but still need to get it folded.

Took the slop out to the chickens. Put bread crumbs out on the bird feeder and was surprised at how they went for the crumbs over the bird seed!

Daughter put a platform feeder right outside the kitchen window. The chickadees are such teeny tiny birds! The cardinal is so pretty up close!

Still need to water my plants. I mixed up some fertilizer in a gallon of water and waited for it to dissolve. It is a kind meant to mix into the soil. Sonny didn't know there are different kinds when he bought it.

Had the glass installed on the windows today and now just need the carpenter to come out tomorrow and do some touch up work.

Only ran one errand today to order and pay for a sun visor for the passenger side of my Mom's car. Then picked up takeout iced coffees and nachos for dinner.

Have to get up early again tomorrow, and Mom too. If I wasn't so tired tonight I'd work on my puzzle.

Manna neat idea about that platform feeder. My niece bought my sister a Kitchenaid mixer one year. I don't know what happened to it when she passed. I sure miss her and all the baking she used to do.

Hiker it was a cold dreary day here, perfect for indoor activities. I worked very briefly on my puzzle today intending to get back to it tonight but I ran out of steam. So looks like I'll read a bit of internet news and call it a night.

Night all!

Hey gang.

Manna .. I guess that kitty was cold!! Does he/she have a little bed outside?

hiker .. Our Dollar Tree is more convenient, so I usually go there for cards. I bought some today. Also found a few plastic bins I could use.

I ran some copies of embroidery patterns for an HS friend in Texas. She is sending me some too. We both just recently picked up our old skills and we are enjoying it.

If you were to get COVID and recover, don't you think you would feel more free? I'm puzzled by a friend who won't go out .. even though she and her husband just recovered and they are doing fine. (her reason was that so many are getting it and are dying)

Even my cardiologist said she feels more free now. Speaking of my heart, I have to get an echo next month because she could hear my heart murmur.

Usually, my doctors don't hear it unless I'm prone.

I think I need to do some house cleaning tomorrow. I've done some since arriving home, but have more to do.

We may get snow on Friday. All my friends in Texas got snow on Monday. Many of them received 4-12 inches of snow. They are all happy campers.

Even our alma mater got some snow. It snowed about 6 inches when we were in college. It was so much fun! I did manage to sail down 3-4 concrete steps, however. I guess it's a good thing it was slick at the bottom too.

(Can you say L4-L5?)

See ya tomorrow!

A little bit of sunshine this morning. Cloudy now, though.

I went to the grocery store this morning. I forgot my grocery list but did remember that Snicker’s bars were on sale. [Big Grin] Actually I did remember to get everything on my list.

I did my knee exercises.

Went for a short walk.

I did watch some of the debate about impeachment in the House. I had never seen this before and am interested in how the House and Senate work. I am not trying to be political here.

Hope to talk to my former colleague who teaches social studies how he is handling the current events in history. He and I don’t agree on politics much but we are great friends and he is a super teacher. He is a huge defender of the Constitution and always took a group of students to Washington DC in May.

I talked quite awhile with my mom.

May go make muffins now.

Today I finished up our seed order and got in out in the mailbox before the mail went! Now to have patience till the seeds get here!

Lyme too, our cats have nice strawy beds out in the barn, or for those who prefer cardboard boxes on the back porch. I put a couple empty boxes on the porch and discovered the cats are using them as beds!

Did more laundry today. Still have more to fold & put away.

Got the plants watered today with the water with fertilizer in it. Oh, just remembered the ones in the bathroom were skipped.

Gabbed with my sis-in-law awhile this morning.

Took a nap this afternoon.

Tomorrow is baking day. If you want to come help, I'll send a loaf along home with you! LOL

Vacuumed just a bit and put things back after the carpenter left today. While cleaning the new window in my Mom's room I noticed a crack in the glass at the bottom of the frame. I took a picture and sent it to the general contractor.

So might end up having to move things again but that's OK as long as they fix it.

Other than that I haven't done to much just making an appointment with my allergist.

Manna count me in for the bread making! I'd eat the whole loaf of bread by myself!

Hiker let me know if you need any help eating those muffins!

TuTu hope that ECHO comes out OK! I sure don't miss slipping and sliding on ice.

See everyone tomorrow!

Thanks, AK.

Manna... Our border collie loved the straw in his doghouse. We left him outside when we would go to work. Winter wasn't the worst for him, it was the heat that was hard. This was in South Texas.

Hiker .. I was out most of the day, running errands. Still catching up from vacation.

Tutu--Let us know when you go for the echo. You are covered in prayer.

AK--bummer about the broken glass in the new window. Why are home projects always such a pain?

Manna--I look forward to hearing about what seeds are planted when they come and it is spring.

I had Bible study this morning via zoom.

I did my balance exercises this afternoon.

Talked to my mom for quite awhile.

Did odds and ends and tonight will be my usual relax and read time.

Where has the day gone? Doesn't seem like I got a lot done.

I did do my knee exercises.

Finally got around to baking muffins.

As usual, I gabbed with mom on the phone.

Paid a few bills etc.

Have a good evening!

Today Hubby and one of the boys put up a shelf in the laundry. Now I can store the rarely used items up there. Its a stretch for me to reach the shelf. I'm happy with the extra space.

We had sunshine this morning, then it clouded over by lunchtime and we had rain & snow showers this afternoon.

I was outside this morning putting some things away that we setting out. Took the potato peelings and orange peels out to the chickens. The goats had to come see if there was anything good to eat!

Placed a couple online orders.

It snowed last night, so I shoveled the drive, walk, and porch. Not a lot of snow but it was heavy and my shoulder regrets this exercise. More snow on the way.

I did my balance exercises.

Did 2 loads of laundry.

Called mom as usual.

Watched the Illini basketball game.

Now, I need to dig into Bible study. Last week we just got acquainted and did not do much of the study and I just got an email that this week we are doing 2 lessons, so I need to get started on the second one.

Snowed off and on all day. Not much stayed laying, though the ground is white again now.

Got all the wash folded and most of it is put away.

Measured out the flour for my baking on Monday.

Mixed up a batch of homemade noodles to use the egg yolks that were leftover from before. Have the noodles spread out on a table cloth to dry. Will have noodles for dinner tomorrow.

Want to mix up a jello cottage cheese dessert for tomorrow also. I had put a container of cottage cheese in the freezer so it doesn't spoil before we get it eaten. The texture is a little grainy and the usual cottage cheese eaters are turning up their noses.

Hubby is helping get the last of the spackling on in the bathroom. They thought they were done, but a couple places it wasn't coated good enough. So more touch ups!

Daughter made supper tonight - beef stroganoff and broccoli. Fresh fruit for dessert - apples, oranges, or grapes.

Washed our sheets & put them back on the bed again.

You all are having some cold weather! It's actually getting down to the high 20's tonight down here so have the cabinets open under the sinks in the bathroom and kitchen.

The only thing I did today was pick up trash in my yard and the neighbor's across the street. That's the downside of having fenced in yards, they catch windblown trash.

Been having some issues with joint pain, rashes, etc. so am fasting to get inflammation down. I've been really bad with my eating since before Thanksgiving. Time to heal up a bit.

See you all tomorrow!
