Went to drop off recycling and then return books to library.

Am heading outside to fill birds feeders and then will call my mom.

Have a great week! [hi]

Went to church today. It's been rather slim the past two Sundays. We do have a few members who are ill with COVID, but most of them have not been coming to church.

It seems to be everywhere around us at this point in time.

It's a little cool out there today, but will rise to about 55 later.

I need to start back on my embroidery. I want to make a few towels for family members for Christmas. A friend from high school just sent me some patterns for her Christmas-themed ones.

I still need to make a few with the Texas theme on them. Those seem to be popular in Texas -- LOL.

Hoping to slow down on the eating and speed up on the exercising this week. [Wink]

Ironed 10 shirts and 4 pants for my nephew. Made French toast and heated up leftover ham for brunch.

Ordered pizza for our Sunday dinner so no cooking! Yay!

Had a nice relaxing day!

Hiker hope your Mom is doing OK. I downloaded another book from the library so look forward to reading in the evening. Glad things are not as hectic at the moment.

TuTu hope and pray that you all will be OK! Your embroidery projects sound relaxing and fun. I have a friend that loves to crochet and makes the cutest things. I'm all thumbs when it comes to needlework.

Well, off to read!

Had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend with 2 of my brothers and their families here. Had rolls w/ butter & jelly, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, carrots, cranberry salad, & pie & pumpkin custard.

We spent most of Fri & Sat outside working at projects since it was fairly nice weather. Not too cold or windy. Were able to burn a lot of the brushy stuff from the tree trimmers and what sonny had cut off the banks. Sure looks a lot better out there.

They also worked at landscaping around the backyard fire pit and got my wash line poles put up. Now we need to put the wash lines on the poles. Hopefully someone knows where it got packed and which shed it was put into!

One brother left Sat right after lunch and the other left this morning around 10:30. Our house seems quiet and empty after they all left. Our daughter was commenting on the noisy children, the youngest was 3.

I told her she was the noisiest of all of our children! Its just different when they are little. Our youngest is 16. The other brother's youngest is 11. So we had all ages here!

After lunch on Thursday most of them went out to climb the mountain & go exploring. They enjoyed it. We did hear a few of them wondering why their leg muscles hurt a little the next day!

I think everyone had a good time. They are all looking forward to coming again in the summer and camping out in tents.

Manna--Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Had a few snow flurries today. Cold and windy and will get into the teens tonight. I should not be surprised as it is almost December. Just not a fan of snow or windy chills.

I did my knee exercises.

Called coroner's office again. Will have to call back tomorrow to speak to the man I need to speak to but they have not closed the investigation on my dad's death. Starting to get impatient, especially when lady told me it could be 2 more months. Would be nice to wrap it up before the New Year (and tax season)

Worked on Bible study.

Cooked some lamb patties and broccoli.

Time to get the garbage down to the curb. Gets dark so early now.

Baked bread and rolls today. 15 loaves of bread, 2 pans of dinner rolls and 2 pans of Butterhorns.

Got most of the laundry through the washer and dryer, but not folded. Was an extra large amount of laundry with extra people here. Several loads of bedding, table cloths, & towels.

I'm tired and ready to crawl into bed tonight.

It was rainy / drizzly all day. Tonight it has turned to snow. Very thankful it waited till after the children were home from work. They don't get home till after dark, and the mountain roads are scary to me in dry weather.

Up before 7:00 to get ready for the AC guy to come out at 8:00. He checked our furnace, which is dual fuel, and said our furnace is 26 years old. He gave an estimate of $2,500 to clean the fan, coils and replace some kind of part.

Gonna have to pray that the system will keep plugging away since we just had ducts replaced, etc. and are getting 2 windows replaced due to mold.

Mom and I went to Sam's an Aldi's and bought a few edible Christmas gifts. Mom enjoyed her outing.

Manna your Thanksgiving dinner sounded so good! Envious of your family doing some hiking. That's one thing I love to do. I'm polishing off the last of our leftovers and will have to give my body a break soon. Probably a few days of fasting will help.

Hiker garbage day for me too. Got the trash to the curb in the dark but at least we have street lights. We finally have some cold weather here and will be in the 20's tonight. Hang in there in regards to your Dad's cause of death. My sister had a fall also and I think they want to be extra sure in case of a lawsuit.

Well, back to watching Doctor Strange.

Ran a few errands this morning. The bank only has drive-through, so that is safe.

Did my balance exercises.

Paid more bills.

Talked to the guy at the coroner's office--investigation may be done by the new year. Sigh.

Talked to mom. She was struggling today.

Wrote some Christmas cards.

Off to eat leftovers.

We had Bible study at church. It was really good. We are enjoying the books "Not Forsaken."

I went to pick up some items hubby needed and that included a quick trip to Walmart.

Hubby went to hit golf balls. It's going to be cold for the next week. Might even have snow on Thursday.

We got home at the same time and he got my Christmas stuff out of the garage. I told him that was a good plan because then he wouldn't have to listen to me whine for the next week or two! lol

So I got both trees up (4 ft tall) .. and have them mostly decorated. I had to give it up because my back started hurting. Not a big deal but I didn't want to overdo it.

I should be able to finish everything up tomorrow.

I also need to get the lights out on the balcony. I enjoy looking at them.

We go for bloodwork in the morning.

Woke up to a winter wonderland this morning! Every branch was covered in snow. By supper time one of the girls measured the snow - 5 inches!!

Got 5 more loaves of bread baked.

Gabbed on the phone with my sister this afternoon and then my sis-in-law this evening.

Did a couple loads of laundry.

Made turkey salad sandwiches and soup for lunch then out the door to run errands.

Dropped off two boxes at the PO that are heading to Japan and went back to Aldi's for more gift shopping.

Stopped at my brother's job and he checked my car since it didn't start right away the other day. Looks like I might need an alternator. So that's my Christmas present to myself....sigh!

Drove home and took Mom's car to the mall. Bought my eldest niece a cute top and silver earrings and my youngest niece who's turning 16 on the 27th a pair of silver and cubic zirconium cross earrings.

Hiker today was bill day for me too. Course I didn't figure on the alternator and costs to install it. Praying for you, your Mom and brother during this time as you wait for the autopsy report. Thinking of you!

TuTu way to go on the Christmas decorating! Hope the bloodwork comes out OK. You might get a kick out of this, heard we had snow flurries tonight. Down in the 20's at night! Boy do I need a new coat! Gave my North Face jackets away since I lost weight.

Off to read!

The first snow is always lovely, until you have to shovel or drive in it. [Big Grin]

I went to the grocery store today. Normally I go every week but it has been almost 2 weeks. Needed fresh produce and the pork chops and chicken breasts and cauliflower crust pizzas were buy one get one free.

Did my knee exercises.

Made my gluten free blueberry muffins. Froze half.

Called my mom. She was more upbeat today

AK—No autopsy done on dad. Coroner just looking over hospital, doctor, and nursing home notes. You would think it could be done quickly but they go in order of deaths and he said he had some homicide cases to finish first. It is a large county.

I am cooking zucchini and having pasta with tomato sauce tonight and a salad. I eat a lot of salads. Lol

I am reading a good novel. The Brilliant Life of a Eudora Honeysett. It is a deviation from my mysteries.

Plan to stay up late and watch Illini basketball.

I've been eating away and have one serving of green bean casserole left. Need to eat more salads like you Hiker!

Went Christmas shopping, picking up things my Mom wanted to give this year and I found a cute little jacket for my Mom at Marshall's clearance priced for only $10!

I'm just about finished now with gift shopping. Now to move onto finding a good deal on a prime rib roast for Christmas dinner.

Watching the news and trying not to get depressed. [Roll Eyes]

Night all!

AK .. You are on a roll with the shopping!! The jacket for your mom sounds great!

I really don't buy very much anymore. I have something for my sister in law and cousin. We three usually have little gifts for each other. (and I usually give a small gift to a few friends at church). I found really cute items at Mardel last week.

We stopped exchanging gifts with my brother and SIL a few years back.

Hubby and I don't usually buy each other anything either. Once in awhile he will get me flowers but that hasn't happened in a few years either.

AK .. I'm sorry you are getting an alternator for Christmas!! UGH!! I think I got a crown for my present this year.

Hiker .. I hope your mom begins to have more than one good day a week soon. Such a difficult adjustment.

manna .. nice to have pretty snow .. but not too often. We have not had much snow here the past 5-6 years. It's been pretty skimpy. That said, we may get a little in the early morning. It won't last long if we get any. It's pretty warm.

I finished all of the decorations and got the lights on the balcony too. They look great out there. I forgot to turn them off, so I may just let them run. I don't want to wake hubby up by opening the door.

oh .. and we got our bloodwork done this morning. It was absolute torture for me. She had to use places on my arm that were very sensitive, and then she was unable to get enough blood from sites she chose.

So I have three sites that are bruised .. all for 6 vials. UGH. It was really painful and over the past few years, it's become harder and harder for anyone to draw blood from me without blowing a vein or causing pain.

rant over

I had Bible study via zoom this morning.

I did my balance exercises and then went for a short walk.

Took a short nap.

As usual, I called my mom.

Ak-I am doing all my Christmas shopping online this year and haven’t started, yet.

Tutu—I hate blood draws.

Today was bread baking day. I think I'll bake on Monday and on Thursday and then the rest of the week is for other things.

Ordered a few more gifts online. Some of the children went Christmas shopping, got one of the girls to buy a gift that I couldn't get online.

Now I need to get the rest of the dishes done. Did about half of them, then had to get supper ready. Supper was diced potatoes with brown butter, peas & carrots, ham slices, and a flopped loaf of bread, with butter & jelly.

I'm tired and my back aches. I think going to bed early will feel good!

Up early to take my car to the shop. They said it wasn't my alternator and gave my car a tune up that cost me only $45. I'm taking the alternator back that I bought from my brother and getting a much needed $98 refund.

Went to the PO again for Mom, picked up some water, had air put in the tires of Mom's car and brought home some breakfast too.

Later went out again for gift bags and tissue paper and wrapped all my Christmas gifts.

Manna your dinner sounds delish! We had rice, Japanese white radish stir-fried with tofu, miso soup and a small sliver of marinated pork fatback. Now that's some down home Okinawan cooking!

Hiker you're doing so good with the exercising! I just got off the phone with Josh and he's trying to cut back his calories and buy some lighter weights per his physical therapist instructions. He injured his bicep tendon and elbow from weight training but thankfully is doing better. Hoping our talk will inspire me!

TuTu you aren't ranting! We aren't meant to be human pincushions! Sounds like you're all ready for Christmas! I think I did pretty good this year considering I didn't start shopping until November. Usually I try to space things out during the year but not 2020!

Well....time to read myself to sleep!

Night all!

I slept in and then did my knee exercises.

Rode the exercise bike for just 5 minutes to see how my knee felt. I am not using the arms as it hurts the shoulder. Hoping to gradually increase time without hurting knee as when the snow falls, I won't be out walking.

Made a meatloaf and froze most of it.

Called my mom.

Paid more bills and worked other financial stuff.
Think I will cook a cauliflower crust pizza for dinner and have a salad.

Did some desk work this morning.

Did some of the laundry, got the first several loads folded and put away! Have 2 baskets waiting to be folded.

Ordered books online for a friend this afternoon. She wanted some old titles and we found most of them.

Supper tonight was butterhorn rolls, chicken patties, creamed corn, carrots & asparagus. Had chocolate chip cookies for dessert. The rolls & cookies were ones that didn't sell.

Rained today, the snow is melting away.

Rainy day here too Manna. Shame to have to eat the rolls and cookies that didn't sell. Let me know if you need help in that department! LOL!

I bought salad fixings for Sunday dinner Hiker so we're both thinking salads. I've got to get back to eating healthier!

Returned the alternator to my brother then stopped at my bank and my Mother's. Shopped a bit at my favorite store to check prices on creme brulee and prime rib roast for Christmas dinner. No prime rib roast in yet.

Wrote out all my Christmas cards for exercise and will mail them tomorrow.

Have to wake up early again tomorrow. We received a robocall from our local consolidated government about an emergency preparedness survey being conducted by our local health department.

I'm very worried about it and Josh said they've implemented changes in regards to the school system today also.

Something's up.....

[confused]

Hi, gang!

AK .. due to COVID?

I had a lot of body pain today but it eased up a bit after a shower and moving around the house.

Went out later and met my friend at a local outlet store that is going out of business. (sigh) I went a few days ago and got hubby some of his usual pants that he wears. Found them CHEAP!!

My friend wanted to look for pants for herself for work. We were in and out of there in about 20 minutes. I got two more pairs of my hubby's. Saved about $15 a pair!!

I also found a blouse I can wear to church.

I found out how many steps I walked today via my smart phone. All I can say is that I need to get busy walking more!! I wish I felt safe going back to cardiac rehab but I think it's out of the question.

Not only do I have to worry about COVID, I'm SURE they disinfect that place like crazy. My MCS (nor MCAS) can't handle that. They are going to kill us all. I have no idea IF or WHEN they will slow down on the disinfecting.

BTW, did you know that Lysol contains formaldehyde?

Tutu—I use my smartphone to track steps walking, too, ibut am not sure how accurate it is. I know it is not at all accurate for keeping track of flights of stairs I go up and down in my house. Way too low.

Can you walk outside for cardio rehab instead of going to the center? Perhaps if the cement is too hard on your joints you could find a high school of college synthetic track to walk around.

I did a load of laundry.

Went to look at the condo just down the street from me. I liked the inside although it would need some work. But with the steep driveway and the high number of steps to get from street (mailbox) to front door, I don’t think I will take it. God will provide the right place at the right time,,

Did my balance exercises this afternoon.

Rode the exercise bike for ten minutes.

Filled my bird feeders. Cool but sunny here and quite a few songbirds around.

Am watching Illini football now.

Have a good evening. 😃

Hiker .. I realized later that the phone won't be a good measure. It's not like I carry my phone everywhere. lol

I may try walking on one of our streets. I joined our local Baptist church's gyms a few years ago but the track is so boring. It IS cushioned though.

A friend and I were going to walk, but her ankle began to bother her too much so we both quit going.

I thought maybe I should just walk back and forth in our condo more.

Ran some errands and took OCC thank-you's across town to a friend. She is in contact with the people who made extra items for us.

Had a busy day. Hubby & children worked at the bathroom. Also put new vent pipe in for the gas water heater. It goes up through the bathroom being remodeled.

Did several loads of laundry. Got it all folded too.

Transplanted a few house plants into bigger pots. Divided the spider plant into two pots. Still want to repot the aloe plant. I have 2, one is in a clay pot and it doesn't seem to like it very much. Dries out too fast.

Supper tonight was corn, peas & carrots, meat balls in my own bbq sauce, and for dessert a big bowl of vanilla pudding with bananas sliced into it.

Up early waiting for the health department surveyors who never showed up. Ran to the PO around 8:00 this morning to mail off Christmas cards.

Fixed brunch for me and Mom, just half a sandwich and we split a can of Progresso soup. Munched on some cookies as we watched some Christmas movies.

Then outside to replace bulbs in the Christmas lights and picked up wind blown trash in our yard and the neighbors yards close to our house.

Later me and Mom broke out the box of kleenex and watched the movie Steel Magnolias. We cried our eyes out! We both have seen it several times but it's been awhile since we last watched it.

Hiker I'm sure if you're meant to move the right place will present itself. Way to go on all the exercising!

TuTu I do think it's Covid related. Josh's school changes definitely are. No more teachers eating together, meetings with co-workers or parents, etc. Our numbers are going back up. BTW...wow...you found some great bargains!

Manna you all had a busy day! Nice to work hard and then be rewarded at the end of the day with an awesome dinner!

Off to read or watch something on my Kindle.
