It's a beautiful day here! I'm getting ready to make the salad for tonight's dinner. Josh is coming for Sunday dinner so I'm roasting a prime rib roast. It was supposed to be for Christmas but we didn't get together due to Covid.
So we're having the planned Christmas dinner in March!
I'm baking potatoes and making horseradish cream and au jus. Also will bake half a tray of Sister Schubert's rolls.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Ak--Prime rib sounds so delicious. I have not had that in several years. Enjoy!
Went to church via zoom.
Did 2 loads of laundry and put the sheets back on the bed.
Cut back my sedum and Lenten rose. Took the protective tape off the trunk of my service berry tree.
Talked to mom. Then gabbed with my Florida friend for a long time.
Time to find a book and read.

Gorgeous weather here too. I love it. Sunny and about 65.
However, I was scheduled to see a show with a group I am a member of. It was a country show with entertainers who are "tribute artists."
So I "saw" Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Waylon Jennings, Patsy Cline and Elvis. They threw Elvis is as an extra. LOL
My fave was Kenny Chesney. The singer was really good. He was also the MC of the show. One of our long-time friends is the bass player in the show and a backup singer is a friend also.
It was the first show I've been to this year. Looking forward to more!
AK .. the food sounds great. I'm amazed you can eat those things. Meat I can have, thank goodness.
Hiker .. I'm anxious to buy plants now, but will have to wait a few more weeks. I planted pansies for the first winter in several years.
They are FRIED. I think a few plants may have survived because they were close to the back windows. What's strange is that they were on the north side of the building. The worst damage was to the ones on the south side.
I also have a minitature English ivy that has survived many winters in a flower pot on my front porch. It barely survived. I think that 10 below was bit extreme for it!! I could have brought it in. I just didn't think of it.
I may go out tomorrow and see if they have pansies yet.
See ya tomorrow!!

I did my knee exercises this morning.
Went to library to drop off books and pick up a few more. Still glad they bring books to the car.
Called mom and then called banks to set up times to take her next week.
Called DirectTV as my big promotional deal is going away next week. Couldn't get quite as good a deal, but did fairly well. I hate the yearly dickering.
Filled bird feeders.
Need to get garbage to curb.

I took my garbage out also Hiker. Made a couple of necessary calls to add me to our gas bill and scheduled my first incremental Moderna Covid vaccine for the same day as my annual appointment with my allergist on the 19th.
Really didn't do to much today. Was wore out from all the cooking and eating yesterday.
TuTu the show sounds fun! I bought a four pack of dianthus the other day and thought they were the same color but one is different. I might see if I can exchange it. Good luck with the flowers!
Hiker I actually used my new to me Pilates ring this evening. Just worked out the underside of my arms and chest just a bit while watching TV. I'm hoping it doesn't tweak my shoulder. Glad you got a better deal on DirectTV.
Off to watch TV!

I so need to call Direct TV .. They stink. Hiker .. you are so good about exercises. ME? Lousy at it.
AK .. I'm going to see about flowers tomorrow. If we have anything out there, it will likely be pansies.
So .. I had my cardiology appointment today. Arrived with high BP. Not a good start to the day. I think my meds hadn't had time to kick in.
They didn't have the report from the company that did the 21 day monitoring. Dr had to call them. He found out that they were behind due to the weather event in TX.
I remember calling one day for assistance and the woman said they had been having trouble. I have a feeling she was answering the call from a remote location, like her HOME or something!
She said they had offices in Houston and N. Dakota. I'm pretty sure I know where it is in Houston. It's not very far from where my brother lives.
So anyway, Dr wants me to get a sleep study because I might have sleep apnea. They found two A-fib events on the monitor report. Not sure what else was on there, because like I said, it hasn't been sent out yet.
So he increased my med for A-fib and it will be a long-acting one. That will be better.
I have to take my BP three times a day and bring the info with me next time .. which will be in 3 months.
So .. I'm off for now!

I went to the orthopedic surgeon about my shoulder today. He was pleased with the range of motion and rotator cuff strength and didn't even feel the need for a MRI! Hurrah.
The doctor said it was severe tendonitis and arthritis. He suggested I rub Voltaren on the shoulder twice a day for several weeks. I have a tube only because a friend gave it to me. Side effects always scare me but I will give it a try.
I did my balance exercises.
Called mom.
Lovely day here, so I went out and picked up sticks in the yard that had blown down during the winter.
Worked on a poem.
Will cook a pork chop for dinner.

I went out this morning to get a thyroid test. Was afraid maybe it's too high.
I also bought pansies, some tulips and a few other gardening items. Feels good!! I'll try to get them planted tomorrow.
I picked up a hamburger for myself and a chili cheese dog for hubby. So we ate about an hour ago. We always eat early if we can. We eat a late breakfast and no lunch.
See ya tomorrow!!

Had a busy day. Finished up the laundry, except for the table cloths.
Very nice and sunny, warm enough to go outside without a jacket or sweater!
I raked leaves and trigs and brambles off the hill under my wash line.
Hubby and Sonny put up some of the wash lines!! Also worked at the mower and fixed the tire for the trailer.
The road guys got the water pipes put in past our place. They did a good job.
Washed a load of table cloths and hung them out just before supper! I couldn't wait until morning!
Gabbed on the phone with my sis-in-law quite awhile.

Was up early but didn't really do much. Went and bought some water and some little biodegradable pots for my bitter melon seeds that I bought for my Mom.
Took my leaf blower/vac and 100 foot extension cord to Josh's. Picked up Mexican fast food and ate dinner with him. Didn't stay long because he had a Zoom meeting at 6:30.
Now I'm home and have no idea what to do!
TuTu hope the meds help with the Afib and HBP. My BP has been a bit high too. I've been off meds for awhile since it was too low. Might be from my weight gain, sigh....
Hiker that's such wonderful news about your shoulder! I know you were really worried about it. Sure hope the cream will help.
See everyone tomorrow!

Very lazy day.
I slept in until almost 8:30.
Did my knee exercises.
Did some Bible study.
Called mom.
Read a bit.
Put off grocery shopping as the wind is gusting 45-50 mph Didn't want to deal with walking across the parking lot and controlling the grocery cart in the wind. Barely made it to my mailbox at the street!
Thunderstorms will roll in later tonight and I will be snuggled in bed.

Another lovely warm day.
Washed all the bedding and hung it out on the lines to dry. Can't wait to crawl into my nice fresh as all outdoors smelling bed tonight!
Sonny helped dig around in the freezers searching for some steaks this afternoon. Dropped a banana box with quart boxes of applesauce. 2 boxes cracked, so we had frozen applesauce for dessert tonight. Yummy!
Sewed the elastic on 4 new masks for one daughter. She wanted some new ones instead of the same old ones. Sewed some slips for the other daughter while she washed dishes. She hemmed them.
Baked 3 loaves of bread for us. I used the Oatmeal bread recipe.
Cooked the butternut squashes yesterday. We had some mashed for supper. I have 2 cups to make a pumpkin custard and another quart to use for other things. I want to try rolls with squash ..... It would certainly make them healthier for us!!
Tomorrow is bread baking day again.

Hiker I'm competing with you on being lazy! All I did was work on a puzzle and watch TV with Mom today. My first day of fasting again so just took it easy.
Hope your Mom is doing OK Hiker.
Manna you are a cooking and baking machine! Your ideas for using the squash all sound wonderful! I love the smell of clothes on the line too. I need to put our single line back up outside. I took it down when I was trying to sell my Mom's house.
Back to watching Everybody Loves Raymond.

MannaMe--Each time you talk about baking bread I can smell it! Yummy!
I had Bible study via Zoom this morning.
Then went to ENT appointment for ear tube check. My ear tube has lasted 2 years and 8 months and is still in place. Usually they fall out in 6 months to a year. Makes me happy as I don't like getting a new one. Makes me a bit queasy.
Went grocery shopping.
Did my balance exercises.
Talked to mom for quite awhile.
Just finished the crossword puzzle in the paper.
Sunny and almost 60 today. I like this weather, but it will change Sunday to rain, wind and 40's for a high.

True about the bread, hiker. My dad was a baker/cook during WWII. He baked bread at home quite often, so I am taken back to our kitchen when she says she's baking bread! I can also taste it and see the butter melting.
Hungry now??
Did a little grocery shopping and took a power nap later. Made my Roomba do some work for me.
oh .. forgot .. Had to go to Kohl's to return some items. Quick trip into Hobby Lobby for some thread and I found some nice fleece we can make blankets out of for the shoeboxes. It was on sale.
Had to go out at 5 to get my hairdresser to straighten up my haircut. We were too busy talking last week and it was uneven. LOL.
So . I picked up hamburgers for us.
I also washed a load of clothes.

Did washing today. Rained this morning, so it all went in the dryer.
This afternoon the sun came out. Planted seeds in mini greenhouses made from empty plastic gallon jugs. Mostly tomatoes.
The lettuce I planted earlier is just starting to peek through the soil!!
Had mashed potatoes, hamburger gravy and yellow beans for supper. Oh and the last of the oatmeal bread. Grape jam or jelly were the choices.
Hoping to plant another 6 jugs tomorrow, with some herbs.

No lazy day today! Took Mom to the commissary and PX and then home to drop off the groceries. Afterwards we went out again to Sam's and bought a few more things.
My knee is bothering me a bit more. I hurt it painting the chain link fence and it was getting better. I put some Uncle Bud's CBD cream on it and hope that'll do the trick. I don't want to resort to a pain pill and muscle relaxer because of my mast cell issues.
Manna I need to do a bit of laundry also. I think I'm going to get started with my bitter melon seeds this weekend and clean out the rocks out of the flower pots and prep the soil. I think I finally figured out what to do about the sand pit that our yard has turned into. I've been reading I need to amend the soil. It's gonna be hard because I'm going to have to do some tilling. Ugh!
Hiker I didn't sleep well either last night so I'm tired now. I'm watching TV and I might end up falling asleep with it on. I hate it that I tweaked my knee. Now I have to contend with my shoulder and knee! We're twins!
TuTu one of the things I miss about farm life is all the unlimited butter! When we were young that was our job, making the butter. We all took turns shaking the jar until are arms gave out. Sure miss the taste.
See you all tomorrow!

Cooked my Saturday salmon, sweet potato, and asparagus. Habit forming.
Friends came over to hep change clock time and smoke alarm batteries since carrying the ladder up and down stairs is hard on my shoulder right now.

Did a couple loads of laundry. Hung some out on the line.
Planted more seeds in mini greenhouses.
Planted some asparagus, bleeding hearts and a grape vine into pots. The grape vine was a birthday gift for hubby. The others the children saw at Walmart and bought them. Think I'll set them on the porch to protect them from frost.
Hubby and the boys trimmed 2 apple trees this afternoon.
Watered all my plants.
Still need to fold the wash and two of the menfolk around here need haircuts tonight.
Will change the clocks tomorrow morning. Not a fan of time change in the spring. But do like the longer daylight hours!

I did 2 loads of laundry today too! After the first load was done I noticed water on the floor of the laundry room. Had to figure out where the water was coming from and thankfully it was a hose. Ran to the closest hardware store and picked up a hose and replaced the old leaky one. Took me about an hour. No more leaky washer!
Wanted to clean out the dirt in the planters and maybe paint them but didn't get around to it. Chopped veggies for salad for tomorrow.
Now we're just vegging and watching TV.
Manna sounds like you all had a busy productive day. I bet you enjoyed spending time outside.
Hiker your dinner sounds delicious! I miss seafood! Looks like all 3 of us did laundry today.
See you guys tomorrow!
