Here we go with another rip roaring week of getting off the couch, out of the recliner or bed.

Time to warm up this winter with activities such as walking, weight training, jogging, cooking, baking and just about anything counts to keep moving.

[woohoo]

Ak--thanks for getting us started this week!

Tutu--Hope you got to celebrate your birthday yesterday despite the covid limitations.

I went to church via zoom this morning.

I did 2 loads of laundry.

Watched my feeders for Project Feeder Watch and entered the data. I was rewarded with a yellow bellied sapsucker at the suet feeder.

My 20 minute power nap turned into a 90 minute nap. Hope I can sleep tonight!

Talked to mom.

We had snow flurries all day but nothing to shovel. Hurrah. I am already tired of winter.

Off to think about fixing dinner.

Have a great week! [Smile]

Hey, everyone!

My birthday was pretty good, all things considered. I got hungry for BBQ while out grocery shopping. Brought home a pound of brisket (Texas style), coleslaw and baked beans.

The meat was incredible. Felt like I was back in Texas. It was so tender and juicy. I need more!!

Today we went to church .. first time since getting back from Texas. It was great to be back and our Pastor had a wonderful sermon. Thankfully, everyone was happy to see us. LOL.

I took a nap this afternoon and then watched TV while doing more needlework. I'm making little birds out of felt. They are so cute. I just completed my second one.

I had to do a lot of reverse engineering to figure out how to make them. No pattern, except what I made. Did I tell you earlier that I had bought some birds from a lady in CA?

I also cleaned one bathroom and washed some clothes by hand. Washed our masks too. I keep them clean.

It will be a little warmer this week, at least for a few days.

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight! See you tomorrow!~

Took Mom to her PT appointment today. She graduated so she doesn't have to return unless she has SI joint problems again.

Other than that just hanging out waiting for my allergist office to call. I'm trying to get a refill on my Auvi-Q pens. I didn't realize mine had expired in May! Next batch I'm writing the expiration date on the calendar.

Are you guys going to get the Covid vaccine? My Mom is not wanting to get hers until she talks with her GP. I'm on the list for one at my allergist's office. They told me that I have to follow a certain procedure due to mast cell issues. Have to be pre-medicated and the shot is given in 3 individual increments. Sounds like 3 times the pain to me!

I've never had a vaccine outside of tetanus shots. I wouldn't be getting the Covid one if I didn't live with my mother.

Glass guy is coming in the morning to replace the window that had a crack at the bottom. Then the carpenter might have to come back out to do some touchup. I'm ready for them to get finished so I can do some much needed dusting.

Back to watching In The Heat Of The Night with Mom.

I did my knee exercises.

Went to library to return 4 books and got 4 more.

Cooked a chicken breast to make chicken salad for dinner tonight.

Talked to mom and then gabbed with a friend for over 2 hours. Lots of lip exercise, I guess. [Big Grin]

Getting dark, so I had better go take the garbage to the curb.

AK .. I don't plan to get the vaccine. IF I were going to, I THINK I would get the Maderna. Pfizer scares me. Too many have gone down with that one.

It's killed 23+ in Norway, not sure how many in the USA. They always keep that on the down low.

I'm sure Maderna is not perfect either. I do understand your concern. You have to also consider that the vaccine could be a big problem for someone your mom's age.

Really tough decisions.

Did I tell you I bought my husband a new phone on Saturday? He had spilled chocolate all over it. Since it's old and was not holding a charge, we decided to get a new one for him.

It was a big problem because he did not have his password for the old phone. The Apple password. They have high security on their phones.

So ... we looked for the code over the weekend, to no avail. I took it back today and it took the girl an hour to get things straightened out.

We were both praying .. She said cross your fingers and I told her I was praying. LOL.

Hubby's birthday is Wednesday, so it's a good present.

That is how I spent most of the afternoon. HA! I also ran a few errands and got materials to make more birds. Having fun.

Cooked chicken, GF noodles and made a salad for supper.

In case I don't show up tomorrow, we are going to our dentist on Wednesday. Hubby has to go every 3 months due to gum issues.

AK .. When we were in Houston, my brother was watching in the Heat of the Night a lot. He said he never watched it very much when it first came out. I never did either, but always heard it was good.

I may try to find it on our TV and watch a few.

I watch a lot of HGTV.

Hiker, I need to do more reading.

Tutu--I probably won't get the vaccine, either, due to previous issues. However, I would rather have the Pfizer vaccine.

Those in Norway who dies were all very frail elderly people, some with terminal conditions. They were only giving the Pfizer in Norway so Moderna may have done the same thing.

My mom had her first dose of Pfizer and gets her second dose in 2 weeks.

I did my balance exercises.

I went to chiropractor, so am being lazy the rest of the day so manipulation holds.

Worked on Bible study.

Going to read and watch TV tonight.

Tutu--Hope dental appointment goes well.

I went grocery shopping early.

Did my knee exercises.

Talked to my brother and my mom.

Spent rest of day watching inauguration and festivities. I have never seen one in real time due to working. Loved the poet.

Probably watch the inaugural celebration tonight and read.

Burgers for dinner!

Folded the wash today and put each person's in a basket for them to put away.

Watered all the house plants. Even remembered the ones in the bathroom this time.

Wrote a letter to my SIL who was sick and now is bored but not well enough to go work. Got it in the mail before the mail went.

Two catalogs came today with plants in them. Daughter & I drooled over them...... but they are too expensive! Roses, Peonies, Lily of the Valley, Hostas, Lilacs, Iris, and lots more of the beautiful old timey things!

Sonny cooked supper tonight - homemade noodles, green beans, and Hamburger BBQ. Dessert was vanilla ice cream and peanut butter and / or chocolate syrup topping.

This evening I want to measure out my flour for tomorrow's bread baking. Get everything lined up for an early start. Still trying to figure out the right amount to bake each time.

Been watching the inauguration all day and still watching even now.

Think everything ends at 10:00 so will go to bed and read then.

I haven't really done to much today. Had to set up my Mom's water bill for an online account and also took me over an hour on hold to get help with renewing my driver's license online.

My license expires on Monday so I was cutting it way to close!

Talking on the phone counts as exercise Hiker! Burgers for dinner sounds delicious! You know me...I'm still fasting. I drink a protein drink, almond milk, teas and coffee but no solid foods. Today's my 4th day and will start eating on the 24th with just fruit and veggies. Getting takeout for my birthday on the 25th. Picked a local Italian restaurant that we've never tried that has good reviews. Afterwards it'll be right back to fasting.

TuTu I'm so undecided about the vaccine! Glad to hear your hubs got a new phone for his birthday. Neat that you two have birthdays in the same month. Speaking of In The Heat Of The Night, it was one of my Dad's favorite shows. I basically watch what Mom likes but I do enjoy The Golden Girls and the Waltons the most.

Manna how awesome that your kids chip in with cooking dinner! Reading about the homemade noodles makes me want to try my hand at making some gluten free ones. I bought 2 gluten free cookbooks and haven't tried out a recipe yet. I need to get busy!

OK friends, it's almost ten and reading time. See you all tomorrow!

Little bit drippy outside today. Only thing I've done so far is going to the grocery store to pick up some water and plain Greek yogurt for smoothies.

Finished my book last night and downloaded another one.

I should get off the couch and do some housework! House really needs a cleaning. Sigh....

Hope everyone is having a great day!

AK—I am not a fan of house cleaning although I keep a tidy home.

I did my balance exercises.

I had Bible study via zoom.

I washed my flannel sheets and remade the bed.

I went to Walgreens to get a new NeilMed sinus rinse bottle. I got one from Amazon and it was defective. Amazon sent a new one and it had the same defect. Walgreens was more expensive and sadly the purchase came with chocolate. [Big Grin]

Talked to mom.

I watched too much tv yesterday so am just going to read tonight.

Got some bloodwork done this morning, then went to church to meet a friend who was wanting help with relearning to crochet. She's my partner in OCC work.

She was frustrated because it didn't come to her very easily. She had a stroke about 25+ years ago (she's only in her 50's now) and her right hand doesn't cooperate.

So .. we had to leave since the janitor was working. He had some stinky fragrance spewing from the vacuum cleaner.

I hope she doesn't give up!! She was making progress. We were able to work for about an hour.

Then I went to Menard's to return a UV sanitizer that didn't work. This was one I could use on my computer keyboard and in my car. It just wasn't lighting up.

I bought one for my phone last week and it seems to be OK.

Also went to the grocery store for a few items. Came home and worked on things around here. Then I started cooking supper.

Going to work on setting up my Roomba tonight! Our friends bought me one for Christmas and birthday. I told them to quit spoiling me!!!

(She's like a daughter to me and she has no real family.)

I'm still enjoying my needlework. My latest project is little felt birds and more tea towels that are embroidered.

Ak . I hope you got some housework done! I need to clean my bathroom a little better, but I CAN'T SEE IN THERE!! My lights are out because one fixture needs to be replaced.

A guy is coming tomorrow morning to fix it. Sure will be glad. The light flickers like CRAZY when it's turned on and one day it smelled like it was burning.

See ya later!

Bread baking day. 30 loaves and 6 packs of dinner rolls.

I'm done for today!

Two of the children went shopping this afternoon. Got groceries and towels and daughter picked up a cute flannel sheet set with dogs on it. She didn't need it - it just followed her home!

They also got a vanity for the upstairs bathroom. They started painting it today! So it is getting nearer to the end.

They were going to just repaint the old vanity, but the top didn't fit and they couldn't make it fit. It had paint splotches on it from a previous paint job, which weren't going to come off. They thought of putting an epoxy finish on it, but since it wasn't going to fit right anyway, decided its too much work. So after checking prices, decided to go with a new one.

Tutu--Let me know how you like the Roomba. I thought about getting one but I have stairs in the house and figured it might take a dive down those.

Manna--Hope that bread is making you some dough! [Wink] Always fun to come home with new items. I bet the bathroom will look awesome when you all are done with it.

Beautiful sunny day here although only about 20 degrees.

I went to Farm and Fleet early this morning to get ice melt. Expecting a storm around Sunday or Monday with freezing rain and snow.

Now that that current snow has mostly melted I was able to finish picking up the limbs from the last storm. The one big one that I thought was so heavy was much lighter without ice and snow on it. I was able to drag it into the neighboring church yard from whence it came.

I filled all 6 bird feeders.

Did my knee exercises.

Made a pot of spaghetti sauce and froze most of it. My recipe is enough for six meals.

Took a 30 minute nap and then had enough energy and brain power to balance the check book.

Got up early, showered and actually wore my dress that I had made last year. Thought I might go out a bit for the day but it was rainy so I stayed home.

Mom had a zoom like meeting with her liver doc today so that was informative.

Scheduled Mom's first Covid vaccine next Thursday. I'm on the list at my allergist's office but they told me today that they haven't received any vaccines yet.

Mom's liver doc was stressing to me that I need to get vaccinated since I'm my Mom's caregiver until I told him I have mast cell issues. He said, 'Oh, I didn't know that.' Glad I'm having it done at my allergist's office.

Hiker I still haven't cleaned the house yet...BTW, wish we had a drugstore that includes chocolates with purchases. LOL! [Big Grin]

TuTu I wish I could crochet and knit! I tried to learn when I was a teenager and just couldn't get the hang of crocheting. Thinking about making another dress since I wore one today. I have the same exact fabric but in a different color. I'll use a different pattern though for the new one.

Manna those sheets sound cute! I don't have flannel sheets and think I might buy some. I've been using a heating pad to warm up my bed at night. I've got an electric throw that my nephew bought me quite a few years ago but it's in my hope chest. It's covered with books, a stereo receiver and turntable. I really need to dig it out.

OK, back to watching some TV.

[hi]

Ak, you'll be amazed at how warm flannel sheets feel when you crawl into bed at night. I love them!

Hiker, the bread is making some dough! It sure is a blessing.

Today I'm finishing up the laundry, watering the plants, and doing some cooking to freeze for baking days. I'll do things to put in the crockpot, because the oven & stove top are full on baking day.

Sent son to the bank and the hardware store for furnace filters.

The children are supposed to be working on painting the bathroom.

I love my flannel sheets!

I did my balance exercises.

Did 2 loads of laundry and one set is on the drying rack in the basement.

Went to the ATM, recyling, and the library. Of course, when I got back I realized I had more items that need to go to recycling. Maybe tomorrow.

Soaped my snow shovel and cement ice scraper as we are expecting an ice snow mix over the next few days.

Talked to mom and then gabbed with my BFF for a long time.

Am reading a good book, so may keep reading tonight or watch some shows I taped on the TV.

Have a great evening!

Manna .. How far are you from town? Is it a small one? Sounds so quaint there.

AK .. Well, my wrist is not happy about the crocheting, but I'm 3/4 finished with a hot pad. It's the first one I've made in about 30+ years.

If I just alternate projects, I do OK.

I want to sew but my new machine is still in my trunk. Maybe I should get it out!! LOL .. I need to buy a table for it and can't find what I want.

It is very hard because of very limited space.

Hiker .. the Roomba is fun. It took him about 1 1/2 hours to vacuum our place. Actually, he has not "found" the front bedroom. There are a lot of wires in there. lol .. hubby's music man cave.

He kind of goes over and over an area. I guess that's so nothing is missed. He takes different routes each time.

Blew my mind today to hear sleet coming down on the kitchen atrium window. I checked the radar and yep, it was a wintry mix.

I went to the store later since it was still about 37 degrees.

Have a good evening, everyone!

Lymetoo, we are 10 minutes from a small town, grocery store, hardware store, bank post office, etc and about 20 minutes from a big town with a Walmart and lots of stores.

It is nice here, old timey, back in the hills. We like it! Much slower pace than where we were from.

Had snow flurries this morning but by noon the sun was out. Chance of snow showers tomorrow evening.

It was so warm down here today that Mom and I had coffee on the porch around 5:00.

It was so nice that me and Mom headed out to the local thrift mall and another small store next door. Also picked up a takeout late lunch/dinner.

I picked up trash in our yard and the neighbor's across the street.

So managed to be more active. I'm planning on walking at the gym tomorrow. They have an indoor track. If not crowded I'll use the elliptical then come straight home. No sauna or showering and I'll be wearing my mask.

Manna I love using a crockpot! That's how I always make a roast.

Hiker why do you have to soap the shovel and ice scraper? Is it like waxing skiis?

TuTu I hope I can get some sewing in this year. I'm dreading getting started on my honey do list, seeing how it's just me. I really need to do some more heavy yard work like building just a single layer of concrete block walls of something to stop the topsoil erosion I'm still battling. I'll be posting and complaining here on the thread.

Well...think I might do like Hiker and read a bit.

Night all!
