Welcome to the exercise thread! Spring has sprung and it's time to enjoy the outdoors if possible.

We post here to encourage one another to be as active as we can. If you're out running or running errands, walking, shopping, gardening, weight training, grounding, tending animals, etc. please post it here!

Here we go with another week!

Beautiful day here with a high in the low 60's. My plan is to do some laundry and cooking for brunch and dinner.

Brunch will be leftover French toast and a bacon and egg scramble. Since Josh is coming for dinner I'm making pork cube steaks, mashed potatoes and gravy, baby lima beans and a salad. I bought some cute small cheese pastries for dessert.

I didn't sleep much and was up around 4:30! So I'm watching the news and surfing the net while waiting for my Mom to wake up.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

AK—thanks for starting us off this week.

Went to church via zoom.

Did a load of laundry.

Called mom.

Watched Illini in the NCAA tournament. They got routed even though they were a top seed.

Waiting for my BFF to come over to sit outside on the patio. Windy but in the 60’s.

See you tomorrow! [Cool]

I did my knee exercises this morning.

Otherwise been doing odds and ends around the house.

Took recycling to bins at grocery store parking lot.

Dropped off some books to the book donation center.

Went to the library.

Talked a long time with my neighbor across the street.

My lovely next door neighbor is in hospice. Her husband is so torn up about it, but he hasn't said anything and doesn't say hello or wave. The rest of us figured it out. Breaks my heart. [Frown] We don't know any details, though.

Also talked to my physical therapist who helped me rehab my shoulder. He had similar troubles with the flu vaccine that I did (although not as bad and he didn't have Lyme). His MD suggested he not get the covid vaccine, but he said is torn and going to wait to decide.

Off to fill the safflower bird feeder and then take the garbage to the curb.

I think I will cook up lamb patties tonight--eat one for dinner and have the other tomorrow night. Sometimes cooking for just one is a pain. But I only allow myself to have a "TV" dinner or grab take out on Fridays.

Baking day. 17 white, 9 wheat & 4 dinner rolls.

Did some laundry too and hung it out on the lines. Dried very nicely.

Love the nice weather. But hoping it doesn't get too warm that the peach trees blossom and then it freezes and we have no peaches.

Daughter has been planting more mini greenhouses this evening. She was looking through all her seeds and decided she has too many and not enough water jugs.

I went looking and found a big box full of empty jugs out in the storage shed! So on with the planting! She has mostly flowers and herbs.

Hubby is suggesting raised beds for the herbs. She also wants a raised bed below the office windows to plant sweet peas. Then when the windows are open the fragrance will come in the house.

Way overdid it today! Painted the 4 large rectangular planters with 2 coats of primer. The spray paint I used didn't cut it.

Mom used a dragonfly stamp and so the planters have black dragonflies on it. They came out really cute!

I went to 3 hardware stores and 1 plant nursery today to get paint and supplies and herbs, flowers, and other types of plants.

Got everything potted except one plant. Filled the 4 rectangular planters with 2 different color marigolds and variegated vincas.

Have my bitter melon seeds in starter biodegradable little pots. Other pots have an ornamental grass, alyssum, dianthus and ivy.

My herbs so far this year are curly parsley, cilantro, basil and a new rosemary plant.

Manna I sure could have used some of that bread today! I was way to tired to cook so had half a corn muffin and half a can of leftover soup for dinner.

Hiker I know you enjoyed some BFF time! Those lamb patties sound so delicious!

See everyone tomorrow!

Ak--You are way of ahead in terms of planting flowers. Temps next week will get in the 30's at night, so I don't plant flowers until May.

Did my balance exercises.

Got my haircut. I like this place that I have been going to since Covid started. Only 2 people in at a time. She is always on time and charge without my tip is $18.

Rainy day and windy again. Cleaning lady is here for her once a month thorough job. We both wear masks and I am downstairs when she is upstairs and vice-versa. She gets tested regularly and is getting her vaccine soon.

I have been working on my Bible study.

Another nice day. Did a few more loads of wash and hung them out to dry.

Hubby cleaned out the chickens nest boxes and helped sonny build roosts for them to sleep on at night. They didn't like the roost they had and slept on the nest boxes. That's why they were so dirty.

I put fresh clean straw in the nest boxes. It was funny, later I was out hanging up wash and heard the chickens 'talking' in their house. They were checking out the clean nest boxes and the new roost!

Raked more leaves in the back yard / hill. Hopefully we can soon dig out some of the briar roots and level the ground under my wash lines. It will be so much nicer when I don't need to watch out for the roots trying to trip me.

Didn't sleep well from overdoing it. Bought me and Mom breakfast and ran a couple errands.

Later picked up some Mexican fast food and ate dinner with Josh.

Plan on resting up.

Hiker you and your house cleaner have a good social distancing plan! Wish I could get my haircut. I set up a mirror attaching it to a shelf in the bathroom hoping to have more visibility while cutting my hair.

Manna enjoyed hearing about your chickens! Bet they're happy with their new digs. We've got uneven ground issues too. We've lost to much topsoil and grass exposing roots. It's going to take a ton of work to fix.

See you all tomorrow!

AK--How about planting those moonflower seeds to help prevent erosion. The bushes will spread!

Manna--Are your chickens just for laying eggs or do they make it to the oven?

Dreary cloudy raw windy day here.

I did my knee exercises.

Made some blueberry muffins.

Talked to mom for quite awhile.

Plan to grill porkchops for dinner and add a vegetable and salad.

Am reading a good mystery novel and am almost finished, so back to it, I go!

Another nice day after a bit of drizzle this morning.

Hung out 2 loads of wash. Towels and table cloths.

Daughter had off today, so we walked around and checked on all the baby trees we planted last fall. They are starting bud! Even the Bartlett pear that I thought was dead! Both cherry trees and the peach trees.

Decided we want to move my saffron bed somewhere else. We should wait till the grass like stems die back and then dig them out & transplant while they are dormant.

Daughter moved the fence on one side of the goat pasture to give them more grass to eat. Hopefully they eat all the poison ivy as it comes up. There's a lot of it growing up by the barns we aren't using. They say goats love it.

We get chickens for eggs, hiker. But hubby says when our new batch starts laying we will try our hand at getting these ready for the freezer.

At home I helped process chickens, so I think I remember how to do it. Not a job I was very fond of, though once you got into it , it wasn't too bad. Just do NOT serve chicken for dinner that day!!

Mom did one time because it had been so long since we had chicken, but it just didn't taste very good that day. She said never again!

Daughter planted 7 different kinds of flowers in mini greenhouses today. I should plant a few with some more herbs.

Hey gang!

Manna .. I used to love collecting the eggs at my aunt's farm "back when." The place was where my dad grew up. Later he helped my aunt farm it when her husband died. Great memories!!

AK .. call and ask your hairdresser if she has had COVID. Is that why you aren't getting it done? Mine had COVID in the fall. You can still wear a mask.

I've been busy doing this and that. The weather is perfect for me. 60's and sunny. It was windy yesterday. For hiker, it would be considered "calm." lol

We may get storms tonight. Not sure how bad. I think mostly just rain.

Hard to believe it will be Thursday tomorrow and Easter is right around the corner.

I'm looking forward to Easter services!!

see ya

The only thing I did yesterday was make lunch for my Mom and her BFF and later I went to Sam's to get some half & half and a slice of pizza.

Today my Mom has an appointment to get her hearing aid adjusted. I'm hoping my taxes are done today so we can drive the 45 minutes to go and pick them up. I'm just dreading to see how much I owe.

If they don't call we might go walk around at our favorite local thrift mall. It's pretty big and we can easily spend a couple hours there.

TuTu I started cutting my hair and my Mom's last year. I was paying $18 for my haircut which I thought was a bit high. Might be more now. My hair is so short I might just go to a barber. [Big Grin]

Manna thanks for the tip about processing chickens. I don't think I'd have to do that but never say never! My grandparents had livestock and chickens and my grandmother used to process the chickens but we never saw it. I'm not squeamish at all so that would come in handy.

Hiker that's a good idea about the moonflower. I talked with someone at the local co-op extension office of the University of Georgia and she suggested topsoil (again) with seed and topped with at least 3 inches of pinestraw or hay. My tiller should be arriving today so I might be working really hard in a week or so.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

As a child, we processed chickens from the farm. Didn't enjoy watching them be killed. I think I stayed away from that part!!

I can remember the smell of feathers being singed. UGH. As kids, we did most of the plucking.

AK .. I paid $20 for haircuts for about 10-15 years. About 3-4 years ago, my hairdresser went up to 23. I think it's reasonable for our area.

You have really been making me want to amble through a flea market. I used to have one that was very easy access. (It closed) .. The other good one is very difficult .. no parking most of the time unless you can walk quite a ways.

AK—Did you buy a tiller? Sounds like a lot of work.

Manna-Processing a chicken is not for me. Doesn’t stop me from eating chicken, but I don’t want to be involved in the killing or plucking. Lol

Went grocery shopping this morning.

Did my balance exercises.

Usual chat with mom.

It is raining now and wind advisory tonight. But my daffodils are starting to bloom and parts of the lawn are green and high.

Mom's hearing and hearing aid checkup went well. No big expenses coming from that.

My taxes were done so we drove out there and picked them up. I owe the CPA about $500. They had to do my Federal and State taxes for the past 4 years. I owe Georgia for 3 of those years a little over $100. I am so relieved! I thought I'd have a huge tax bill. So it's time to celebrate!

Hiker my tiller arrived and I gave it a quick try. Has no engine whatsoever and operates on manual strength only. I might as well just turn into a mule and get hooked up! My neighbor already wanted to know what the heck I was doing. They think I'm nuts working so hard. I love my new tiller!

TuTu I hope you get the chance to go flea market shopping! I always tell Mom we're going treasure hunting. It's one of my favorite things to do with her because she has such a good time and gets positively perky!

Time to watch some TV!

Dreary day here.

Did my knee exercises.

Listened to the video that goes with my Bible study.

Made a meatloaf and froze most of it.

Got gas for the car.

Talked to mom several times. She really wants me to stay overnight in her retirement center apartment and got special permission for one night the week after Easter. I wasn’t too happy as I don’t want them to make an exception for me. I am sure others want to stay overnight, too.

Right now I can still can go in during the day but as covid numbers are rising again here, that may change.

Trying to decide what to have for dinner. Friday night is a no cook night for me.

Off to enter my bird watch data into the national data base.

It was a rainy day so didn't do to much. I made frozen mixed veggies and thawed some pre-cooked chicken wings for dinner. Mom had some food her bestie brought.

Signed all my tax papers and wrote a bunch of checks so will mail those out in the morning.

Talked with 2 friends today so made my day much more enjoyable!

Just finished watching National Velvet and will try to find something else on TV.

See everyone tomorrow!

Another rainy day here.

I did my balance exercises.

Did a load of laundry, most of which is now hanging on my drying rack in the basement.

Had baked fish for lunch (my usual Saturday noontime meal)

Talked to mom.

Talked over an hour to my BFF.

Filled the birdfeeder with safflower. I am starting to see more migrating birds. The sparrows move to fast me for to identify the exact type, though.

Off to read and then fix supper.

Dropped off all my mail today and then went to pick up some more gardening/landscaping supplies.

Snagged some 20 foot edging for only $5.99 each so I bought six. It's the typical black plastic/rubber looking kind that I have to bury a bit into the ground. Think I'll tackle that after my yard tilling/seeding job.

Darn, my honey do list seems to be getting longer and longer!

For dinner I bought a small Greek pasta salad and put that on top of shredded cabbage with Ranch dressing. It was good and I ate a ginormous bowl of it.

Hiker one of these days I'd like to try fish again. I love fish but since I had a reaction to shrimp and scallops in 2016 I haven't had any. I started to eat a lot of fish when I moved to Alaska and never got tired of it! All the fresh salmon, cod and halibut I could catch and eat! Those were the days!

Back to watching figure skating with my Mom...

I've been watching the ice skating too, AK!

I had a late start today because I was up until 2 a.m. supporting my BFF who is in the hospital. She's very ill. She now has diabetes on top of Masto and is reacting to the insulin.

Did a little necessary shopping today.

Signing off.

Prayers for her are accepted!
