I went to church via zoom.
Did one load of laundry.
Hooked my garden hoses up to the spigot and watered my new strawberries. Ground is pretty dry.
My BFF is coming this afternoon and we will sit outside. 70 and sunny!
I am not having a fancy dinner. Probably a salad and then snacks.
I plan to watch the women’s NCAA basketball final tonight.

Happy Easter, everyone!! What a glorious day!
We had a few more "old" members return. Some we haven't seen in over a year. Added bonus was two first-time visitors who live here. I think both will probably join. One is from Alaska.
We had two other out of town guests, as well.
Hubby did a great job with the music, even though we didn't have our usual trumpeter and choir. (Our trumpeter passed away about 2 years ago. He had played for our congregation for about 15 years. So sad.)
By the way, my voice IS better! Whoop! It's so much stronger. I guess it used to be tired out from snoring all night! LOL
Manna .. I don't envy walking uphill to hang clothes out, but I do envy the fresh-smelling clothes! Especially the sheets!!
AK.. Pace yourself, please! That is one thing you have to monitor yourself on. We all do. I know my limits and I stick to them most of the time. I don't like paying for my mistakes.
That said, I was on my feet way too much this morning! I usually sit down between services, but this time I stood and talked to our new people.
OUCH on the hips and back .. and feet.
Hiker .. I'm so sorry about your mom's friend. I remember my in-laws saying that all they did was attend funerals when they were in their 80's. (70's too, I think)
My friend is holding her own, I guess. Today is her 2nd anniversary of when her hubby proposed, so he drove two hours each way to get her favorite chicken. (not sure how far, but it was FAR)
Only trouble is, that she is so fragile that even eating that could send her into a tailspin. Praying it will be OK.
(He didn't tell her where he was going this morning. She really NEEDED him to fix her some breakfast.)
OK .. I'm off for a nap!!

Happy Easter!
We had a lovely lunch at noon and then it was so nice we had a fire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows for supper! Ate outside for the first time this year.
Hubby took me for a 4wheeler ride this afternoon.
Took the trash out for pick up tomorrow morning. They come very early before anybody is up.

Roasted marshmallows sound wonderful, Manna. It's been a long time since I sat by a fire and did that.
Lovely day today although a bit windy. 77 degrees and for the first time this year I am wearing short sleeves.
I did my knee exercises.
Went to one chiropractor to get a homeopathic that I am out of. Stopped at the public library on the way back.
Pest control guy came for my annual termite inspection. All is well. I am the only house on my cul-de-sac that has not had termites.
Went to Farm 'N Fleet and got a new 100 foot lightweight hose for my backyard. I am giving away the heavier one. Hope the guy who wants it picks it up today.
I also got more bird feed and some gorilla glue. Of course, I forgot that I need a new hose wand attachment.
I had a piece of plastic below the microwave that was coming loose, so I used the gorilla glue on that. Hope it lasts. I always manage to get the glue on my fingers, too.
Worked a lot on my Bible study. Am heading to mom's tomorrow and Wednesday so want to be ready for Thursday's group.
I need to take out the garbage and see if my neighbor has room in his recycle bin. If not, I will go to the big bins at the nearby grocery store parking lot. At some point I need to put out landscape waste, too.

Ran errands with Mom and we went out for a terrific lunch at Bonefish Grill. I had a really good grilled chicken dish.
We told Josh how good the food was so he made reservations for the 3 of us for Mother's day. He sure is a sweetie!
Manna roasting hotdogs and marshmallows sounds like so much fun! The last time I went 4 wheeling was in 2005 with my AK BFF. She was driving and we plowed into a tree. We were both OK but sore.
Hiker I've been looking for something called EZ straw for my upcoming tilling and seeding project. 2 places that had it on their websites didn't have it. Might have to order some. Hope the new hose works for you.

Filled my bird feeder.
Did my balance exercises.
Drove to mom's. Took her to several banks. Tomorrow I take her to the dentist. The retirement center administrator is kindly allowing me to stay overnight in her apartment. Saves driving back and forth (140 miles round trip) or the cost of a hotel.
I have been cleaning up the place a bit and shredding documents. Helped her write a piece for the retirement center magazine about women's history month. My mom developed the first Women's History course here at University of Illinois back in the early 70's. She had most of the article written. I just added in the humor and typed it up for her.
She will go to the dining room for dinner but I am not allowed there, so I brought along a "TV" dinner to microwave. Will take that hour to go through more documents without her peering over my shoulder.
Almost 80 degrees today.

Ak .. I would agree that Josh is a big blessing to you guys! Hope you can find that EZ straw!
Hiker .. Great job on going through documents and helping her write that article. History in the making! I'm so glad you are able to stay there overnight now and can take care of more documents.

We met up with my next door neighbor from my childhood. We got to meet up about 2 years ago for the first time in 40+ years.
We had lunch with them and will go to a show together tonight. I'm really looking forward to it.
I managed to get them seats right behind us, but they won't know that until tonight.
They got a voucher from a ticket place and I went straight to the theater and the lady offered to seat them right behind us. It was kinda funny because my friend and I said, "Wouldn't it be funny if we were right behind each other!"
The lady at the ticket desk told me to keep it a secret so they would get a good laugh!

This morning I was a listening ear for a friend who needed to rant. She hadn't intended to go there but it just came out. I hope she feels better after letting it out.
Did a few loads of laundry to hang out on the lines. Decided to wash the chair pads on our dining room chairs. Its amazing how fresh they look now!
Raked up more leaves and trigs and briars in the back yard this afternoon.
Hubby worked at putting the greenhouse panels in. A few of them needed a bit of repair which he was able to do.
Sonny helped hubby start to clean up a pile of old roof shingles. Found parts to an old wheel barrow with a metal wheel.
They are out there riding mini bike and 4wheeler again. Come on over and they'll give you a ride!! The neighbor bought a brand new 4 wheeler because his old one is wearing out. Sonny was hoping he'd sell it cheap, but he's keeping it for parts. Sonny was disappointed.
Baked a batch of sour dough bread, but didn't bake it quite long enough. Its just a tad doughy. :-(

Oh gosh guys! Way overdid the yardwork today! Put my cukes and bitter melons in the raised garden bed then tackled some digging to put some edging in. Spent about 3 hours out there and afterwards had to medicate myself. I'm so sore!
I did manage to find one small bale of EZ straw and the store is getting a shipment tonight so I'll try again tomorrow.
Also put in a work order for utilities to come out and mark the gas line again so I can do a little tilling.
Whew...I'm wiped out!

Was out and about early to pick up some more of that EZ straw. Well, they didn't have any so I checked the same store in a different city and they didn't have it. I did pick up more topsoil with peat in it so all was not lost.
I'm still sore so might take it easy today.
Our yard guy is here so need to tell him not to cut the grass where he sees straw. Also the city came out and marked where the gas line runs.
So I'm all set for the tilling work except I need a couple of more small bales of EZ straw.
It's nice here today but I think I'm going to veg out a bit.

Was cleaning out the cabinet below mom's kitchen sink and found a leak. Have no idea how long it had been leaking. Maintenance man at retirement center fixed it but mom would never had noticed it. Hope it stays fixed because this has been a reoccurring problem.
Took mom to the dentist. She is 93 and dentist says she had better teeth than most 30 year olds she sees.
Drove back to my home and then went grocery shopping.
Trying to beat the rainstorms coming in tonight and tomorrow.

Cool, rainy, and windy. An all around good day to stay inside and be pretty lazy.
I did do my balance exercises.
I had Bible study via Zoom.
A high school buddy who lives in Boston called and said she will be in my state next week to help her dad out. We may try to meet up somewhere is schedules allow. Really good to talk to her today even if we can't meet up.

Baking day. Since its warmer the furnace isn't running as much and the bread was taking so long to rise. I set up a heater in my rising closet. Shortened the rising time by quite a bit. Had all the bread bagged up before supper.
This evening I transplanted several trees into bigger pots. Its the ones that need to come indoors over winter because they aren't hardy. Sonny is eagerly waiting for the pomegranate to produce fruit!
Hubby & the boys got the new hot water pipes put in place this afternoon.
Daughter worked at putting steps in the hillside beside her greenhouse. This evening she installed the shelves in the greenhouse.
Had a neighbor stop by to check out where we want our garden. He will plow it for us. I can't wait to get seeds in the ground!! So hungry for fresh beans and peas! Nothing like fresh from the garden veggies!

Tried to add some extensions to the gutter downspouts and my body went on strike. My sore aching legs and arms wouldn't cooperate at all. I couldn't even put in a screw today!
So I'm staying in bed.

Went to chiropractor. Lady in waiting room was softly talking about her experience with being on life support for weeks with covid. Then in walks a guy with no mask on. Makes me furious.
Made a meatloaf and stuck it in the freezer.
Called mom and then talked to a friend for a long time.
Bret is here mowing now. My lawn is like a jungle.
Am reading a good book about a librarian in WWII. Just started it but I think she joins the French Resistance.
Off to think about Friday dinner--I think it will be gluten free pizza again, since I froze all of the meatloaf.

Hiker .. What's the name of the book? That sounds like one I have on my Kindle that I haven't read yet.
AK .. "All things in moderation" That is my mantra. Take it easy, girl! Sounds very OUCHY!!
Manna .. your preparations for your garden sound great!
I ran a few errands early in the day. I bought some daisies and two impatiens to plant. Also bought `an English ivy to replace the one that winter killed.
I will go to my favorite nursery on April 23. They don't open until then. It's much later than last year's opening.
I couldn't wait "forever" so I have bought about 5 pansies and the ones today. The nursery always has stuff most other places don't.
We were supposed to get storms today. One sort of split up and went around us. We may have others later and during the night.
Many people are getting hail with these storms.
The rest of the week will be cooler. It was 86 here today.

Tutu—The book is called The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles.
Tonight a light bulb in my office blew up and spread glass everywhere across the floor, desk, computer desk etc. my neighbor has to help me replace it due to my balance issues standing on a ladder. Then I dragged out the heavy vacuum.
So, it is after 8 and I am finally sitting down to read.

Still finding pieces of the light bulb across the hall from the room where it exploded. Thought I had vacuumed well, but guess not.
Did a load of laundry.
Did my balance exercises.
Baked salmon along with asparagus and sweet potato for lunch.
Spent several hours working on Bible study.
Time to do the crossword puzzle in the paper and call an out of state friend.

Hmm... My Kindle got unplugged so it's down. I'm charging it now. I think the book was something like "All the Light I Cannot See" ??
hiker .. was the bulb one of those energy-saving ones? I had one break years ago and that is when I quit buying them. I was against them anyway.
They spew mercury everywhere and then it gets in your vacuum cleaner. Be careful.
I hear LED's are bad for the eyes. We do have a few of them.
Today I did some cleaning, got the Rumba going, went to Hobby Lobby for felt, bought Mexican food from a new restaurant on our side of town. We've never had one over here for some reason.
Mr. Rumba (Fred) runs about 3 times a week.
I also worked on some felt birds. I'm really upping my game because I'm going to give them to all the ladies on Mother's Day. I'll still have plenty for the shoe boxes.

We have been having BEAUTIFUL weather! Have the windows open and enjoying the fresh air.
Today we picked 6 cups of violet blossoms to make violet jelly.
Two of the children put up more fence posts and doubled the size of the goats meadow. Hopefully they can eat the poison ivy as fast as it grows. Neither of the goats are having kids this year, so no milking. If they aren't milking them, they aren't touching them very much so if they are in poison ivy, we won't get it.
Hubby had help from two of the children to work on the the shed that had some boards rotting away at the window. They got the boards replaced as well as the window. Now they are tackling the door of the shed. The window had been boarded over. They took the boards off and are putting glass back in again. We have our freezers in that shed.
One of the boys worked at getting the terraced bed ready and then planted his strawberry plants. Two of them have blossoms already!
Trees are blooming around here! The peach tree, the pear trees and saw the one apple tree is pushing buds.
Talked to my Sis-in-law and she said it sounds like we are having fun here! I told her we are!!
Lymetoo, a redbud!? Its on my wish list, along with the Golden Chain tree.

After 2 days of medication I'm finally feeling better! Just in time for cooking Sunday dinner tomorrow for me, Mom and Josh.
I've already chopped the celery and carrots for creamed chicken. We eat it on top of canned biscuits and it's an inexpensive family favorite.
My landscaping came out pretty good. I dug a trench and installed about 30 feet of plastic edging in one set of bushes in the front of the house. Covered the area with weed block and then topped that off with 10 bags of pine bark nuggets. I need a couple more bags and have to extend the gutter downspouts and that area will be done.
TuTu I bet the flowers you bought are just gorgeous! I can't believe you had temps of 86 already! Hope it doesn't mean that you all are going to have a hot summer. I wish I didn't work so hard in the yard but once I get started I want to just get it done. You would think I'd learned my lesson after blowing out my elbow from pruning a fig tree.....
Hiker I gabbed on the phone with a friend too! Sure was nice to have a chance to chat and relax. I ended up doing a load of laundry also and ran a couple of errands with Mom today. We're both having different leftovers for dinner so no cooking today for me! Yay!
Manna sure enjoyed reading your post about spring activities at your place. That violet jelly sounds amazing! I didn't know that you could make jelly from them. I'm busting butt trying to get things done while it's still cooler outside. I don't look forward to the summer down here because the heat is just so oppressive!

Oh, BTW, I was reading 'All The Light We Cannot See' but didn't finish in time on my Kindle. What I remember of the book it was really, really good.

Well, I was "this" close on the title! So is there a borrowing program with Kindle?
