And so we head into midApril with trees and flowers starting to bloom! Hurrah!! [Cool]

On this thread we encourage each other to exercise. Any movement counts.

Are you tilling your garden plot, planting seeds, cleaning the house, doing laundry? Tell us about your movement each day!

Have a great week!! [hi]

Rainy and windy again today, but that will just encourage the plant growth.

I went to church via zoom.

Did one load of laundry.

Yakked with mom and then finished the book I started a few days ago.

Lay down for 20 minutes and it ended up being an hour nap. Hope I sleep tonight.

Having homemade spaghetti sauce on rice noodles with zucchini and a spinach salad this evening.

Had a good day at church. It was nice to have more people than usual even though Easter was last Sunday.

Came home and cooked chicken (baked). I also made GF pasta and opened a can of corn.

I was exhausted .. mostly because my hip or back is out again. I never can pinpoint which it is. I think they go hand in hand.

Took a nap and have done basically nothing since then. LOL

Gotta get busy on my Bible studies. I have two this week and I'm in charge of the one on Tuesday. I think I better get after it.

hiker has inspired me to do a load of laundry while I study. [Smile]

Thanks Hiker for getting us started this week! Your dinner sounds so good! TuTu that gluten free pasta sounds delish too! I bought a gluten free egg noodle that is so good that I'd rather have that than wheat noodles!

I didn't do much today just visited with Mom and her BFF earlier today and showed off my yardwork.

Josh came for dinner but skipped the movie I rented, Wonder Woman 1984 so will watch that now. I also rented the new Tom Hanks movie, News of the World for me and Mom for tomorrow. Josh couldn't stay late enough to watch the movie but that's OK, I'll still enjoy it. At least it's not a scary movie! [Big Grin]

I'm planning on starting some tilling tomorrow and hope I'll be motivated enough to get started. I hope and pray that the grass will grow!

Anyways, guess I'll rustle up and snack and watch my movie. See you all tomorrow!

AK--the movies sound good. Please tell me you didn't overdo today with the tilling!

Laundered my sheets and put them back on the bed.

Weeded my perennial flower gardens. Lots of dandelions. I have a sea of yellow in the grass, but am not pulling all of those.

I belong to a "Plant" group on the local Nextdoor website where we discuss flowers and trade them. So, a gal stopped by to get some of my daisies, periwinkle and coreopsis. Fun to meet someone new. She is a retired semitruck driver. She is very handy with home repairs such as electrical etc., so I am sure we will meet again.

Called mom and then my pastor called just to do a check in. Nice guy.

Time to move the garbage to the curb and grill some porkchops.

Baking day. Have it all sliced and packaged except the last loaf. Made 1 batch of sourdough bread - 3 loaves - 2 for us and 1 to sell.

Rainy, drizzly, and had the sun peek through for a few moments a couple times today. Supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so the laundry is waiting till then.

Hoping to get some flower seed planted tomorrow.

Hubby & Sonny worked on redoing more of the water pipes today, under the sink and at the water heater. Currently the water is turned off so the dishes are waiting.

Well...I worked at least 5 hours in the yard. Honestly it's like I go through a black hole or something and lose track of time. I skipped taking stronger pain meds and took Ibuprofen. My pain meds we making me so sick because of my mast cell issues.

Tilling by hand was really hard but I like my new tiller.

So I tilled a bit then mixed in some premium topsoil with peat moss. Then shook out some grass seeds and raked those in and covered them with seeding hay.

It took me longer than I thought because of tree and bush roots.

Finally I watered everything and also treated the lawn with a liquid aerator.

Movies were good and me and Mom didn't eat dinner until 10 tonight. Thank God for leftovers!

Hiker I've got to find you one of those weed poppers! I bought mine from a locally owned hardware store and they might still carry them. Belonging to a plant group sounds fun and I'm glad you made a new friend!

Manna I finally found spots for the moon flowers. I'm going to plant them in the 2 front corners of the chainlink fence. Taking Mom grocery shopping tomorrow but I might have time to get the seeds in the ground. I can't wait!

Time for a well deserved rest. Night all!

Ak--Hope you got some rest today!

Manna- I think you and your family will have projects to work on for a long time to come!

I slept in a bit today after staying up late to read.

Did my balance exercises.

Went to the Vitamin Shoppe to get my Sach. boulardii. Buy one get one half price sale.

Stopped at the library to drop off 4 books and grabbed 5 more. LOL

Chatted a long time with mom.

I also was reading about Olympic rowing. A friend's son is in the Olympic trials and races Friday. If his boat wins they have one more trial in May. If they lose I think he will be done with competitive rowing and focus on his engineer career.

I filled the bird feeders again.

Dug up the dandelions from the strawberry/blueberry patch. Harvested my first (and maybe my only strawberry) of the year! [Big Grin]

Since I grilled 2 pork chops last night and only ate one, I will cut the other one up this evening and add it to my spinach lettuce salad with broccoli, carrots, and blueberries.

Overdid it today too. Am finally in bed after driving about an hour to Kroger for our grocery shopping today.

Unloaded groceries and went to work a bit in the yard. Got my moonflowers planted! Watered seed beds and the lawn then came in and cooked dinner.

Stir-fried bacon and asparagus and we had that with rice. Tidied up the kitchen and am finally in bed. Whew!

I'll be fasting in preparation for my second Moderna vaccine next Monday so no working in the yard except to water seed beds and garden.

Off to bed!

[sleepy]

Hiker, we will have projects for years! When we were looking for a place, one of the girls said, "But mom, we don't want a place that is all nice and finished! We want to fix it all up ourselves! That way we can do it how we want it!" So, here we are, and having fun!

AK, I hope your Moonflowers do well for you. Today I saw one of mine has finally come up! I had given some to another friend and hers were up before mine. I think she got hers planted before I did.

Did laundry today. It was sunny so it went out on the line... though I had to carry it up the hill and hang it up! And bring it back in again.

Hubby, Sonny & I put stakes in to mark where our garden will be. 40 ft x 60 ft Sonny had two shrub stumps to dig out before we can get the ground worked up. A neighbor will do it for us.

Planted 6 flats of flower mixes. They were supposed to be direct seeded, but I'm not sure what all is weeds around here. So we will be able to see what is growing in the flat and then we can direct seed the rest of it in the right areas.

We are really pleased with our mini greenhouses. Most of them now have seedlings coming up. My cabbage, cauliflower & broccoli haven't come up, but it was older seeds. So maybe thats why they didn't come up. I can still try starting those again.

Manna--I have to admit when I grew vegetables I usually bought the plants and put them in the soil except for lettuce, cucumbers, and zucchini. I never had good luck with broccoli growing. Always got wormy.

Cooler here today and a chance of frost tonight.

Went grocery shopping this morning. Divided the hamburger package up into smaller portions so I can grill just one or two burgers at a time. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were buy 2 and get 2 free so .... [bonk]

Couple of my friends stopped by and we talked outside with our masks on.

Chatted with my mom. She said my brother was back from the Virgin Islands. I can't imagine getting on a plane right now, but he and his wife are both Covid vaccinated and decided to celebrate their anniversary there.

Did my knee exercises this afternoon.

Worked on Bible study. I always listen to the morning prayer service from the National Cathedral M-F and today's service was really good. Only about 15 minutes long.

Off to read a little bit and then fix dinner. Pulled out meatloaf I made last week from the freezer.

Have a good evening.

hiker .. are those dandelions really short and small? We have some by our parking lot. I actually look forward to seeing them each spring.

Now the big tall ones nearly killed me when I was a new home-owner back in the 70's. I took a grubbing hoe to them and was in SO MUCH PAIN for days.

I probably chopped out about 30 of them. Never again did I try that!! LOL

AK .. I hope you get that yard all fixed up before it gets too hot. Best to ya!!

The little greenhouses sound great, Manna!

Oh .. hiker .. Once upon a time I grew broccoli. It was around the same time period as chopping up dandelions. HAHAHA.

It came out so well that I was SHOCKED. I never grew it again. Maybe it got wormy too or something. I don't remember. I don't think it lasts very long in the Texas heat, so you would only get one crop. (just guessing here)

We had Bible study at church yesterday and one today upstairs.

Tomorrow I plan to eat out with a group I belong to and then go to a show with them. We will be socially distanced, so don't worry about us.

Today I actually rested. I was going to start fasting but my body rebelled and I felt kinda ill around 4:00 so decided to eat.

I won't be doing any yardwork until next week. I'll go out to water the garden and seed beds but that'll be it.

I might try to clean the house a bit. It really needs dusting, vacuuming and the floors need to be mopped.

Manna it's so wonderful that your whole family will make the house a home. It will be something everyone can remember. I can't wait for the moonflowers and grass to come up! I've got lots more yardwork to do and hope I can get everything done before the heat sets in.

Hiker those peanut butter cups sound delicious! I love cake and cookies and try my best to keep them from jumping into my cart. LOL! I try not to buy foods that I have little control over. I just say no to cookies, cake and potato chips, usually. LOL!

TuTu dinner and a show sounds like so much fun! I might be curtailing going out in the evenings because my Mom was a little depressed when I went to Josh's to help with yardwork and stayed out late. I think I'll be spending quite a bit of time in the yard and doing chores around the house. My Mom wanted to go out with her BFF but realized her friend would not be able to manage lifting her rollator in and out of the car. I'm on a mission to get her out more!

Well...I think I'll watch a bit of TV and head for bed. Night all!

I got up early to watch the live stream of the men's rowing (quad sculling). My friend's son's boat finished a very close second and won't make it to the Olympics. All that training and I am sure it is a bitter pill to swallow.

Went to Bible study group via zoom and then worked a bit on next week's study.

Also attended a zoom session on raised bed gardening and thought of you, AK. The lady said to make the beds no wider than 4 feet so you don't have to reach far. The whole process looked too complicated for me to make one the way she suggested, though.

I did my balance exercises.

Filled the bird feeders and traded one mixed seed feeder out for a finch feeder. Probably next week I will put out the humming bird feeder.

Tutu--hope you enjoyed the dinner and show.

Baking day......... I'm tired tonight.

Should put a few of the mini greenhouses out in the greenhouse overnight. Supposed to get down to 38 tonight. Would really hate to lose all those tomatoes if it would get colder.

Had another restful day! Hiker my raised garden was a kit I bought from Home Depot. It's not very large and perfect for not straining to reach anything. I took my Mom outside because she wanted to see the veggies. We were both thrilled to see some progress.

Manna hope your tomatoes survive! We're having a cool spell also but our lows are only getting in the high 40's. I'm enjoying the cooler weather.

Off to find a snack and watch some TV.

I went to the dermatologist this morning. All is well.

Gorgeous outside so I skipped my knee exercises and went for a walk instead. I live next to two empty fields that belong to churches and the grass was cut short so I walked there. I get hesitant when it is higher due to ticks.

Talked to mom. Then took a short nap.

Just plan to relax tonight. Hope to meet up with a high school friend this weekend. She is in a neighboring town visiting her dad (she lives out east) and we may meet half way.

It was cool this morning, but no frost. I forgot to check how cool it was. All the plants are happy!

Did the washing today, but put it all in the dryer instead of hanging it out. Was cloudy and wasn't sure how well it would dry, so did it the easy way.

Have most of it folded and put away. Just need to finish up the last 3 loads.

Got new lightbulbs for the dining room. Its much brighter in there now. I like it! The old bulbs all died and it took a special bulb with a smaller base. Our oldest son found these.

Hoping to get some transplanting done tomorrow.

Did a load of laundry this morning.

Drove 30 minutes to nearby town to meet my high school friend. We ended up getting milkshakes and sitting at a picnic table for several hours. Sure wish we had more time together but she is heading back to Boston soon and needs to spend time with her dad. Made for a great afternoon, though. [Smile]

Did my balance exercises.

Am going to bake salmon, asparagus and sweet potato for dinner and then watch a movie I got from the library.

Today I made violet jelly. Made a mistake with the first batch. We will eat it anyway, its just not as nice as the one I did right.

Went out and picked enough violets for a 3rd batch of jelly. Picked enough dandelions for a batch of dandelion jelly.

This afternoon I transplanted my tomatoes, hot peppers and sweet potatoes.

Hubby worked at fixing rust on one of the vehicles. The boys worked at leveling the ground under my wash line. Daughter worked a putting the steps in up the hillside. She used cement blocks for the risers and bricks for the tops. Looks very nice.

Hubby & the boys transplanted the raspberry plants they dug out from under the wash lines.

We had a busy day. It was cool enough for jackets. Had some sun and clouds. It started drizzling a few minutes ago. Daughter was grilling a ham steak while holding an umbrella.

My uncle in Okinawa passed away yesterday so haven't been doing a whole lot. I thought he was doing OK but he passed away in his sleep. My Mom took it very hard since he was the last of her immediate family. He was 5 years younger than her.

So we're grieving and doing the best we can.

I'm still watering all the outside stuff but not much else.

Hiker I'm so glad your appointment went well! Yay! So nice that you had a wonderful time with your friend too!

Manna those jellies sound so exotic! I've heard of dandelion wine but not jelly. When I was in Okinawa I ate cactus ice cream and was wondering if it was going to be painful. LOL! I enjoy hearing about all the activities and it sure helps motivate me to get off the couch!

See you all tomorrow!
