Ready for another week of exercise?

Tell us about your movement for the week. Are you gardening, walking, biking, vacuuming etc? Anything and everything counts as we encourage each other to exercise.

So, tell us about your exercise or just tell us about your day.

Have a great week! [Smile]

Thank you Hiker for getting us up and running for the week!

Josh isn't here yet for dinner but I've already made big salads for dinner. Green leaf lettuce, peas, grated carrots, sliced radishes, red onion, tomato, chicken, bacon and cheese! The cheesy garlic toast is ready to go in the little toaster oven.

Bought a small blueberry pie for dessert that we'll top with vanilla ice cream.

Afterwards I'll need to exercise for hours! LOL!

Me and Mom were outside earlier, drinking coffee on the front porch and watching the hummers smack down. They chase each other all over the place!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Sunday!

Went to church via YouTube.

Did a load of laundry and put clean sheets on the bed.

Luke--the nice young man who helps in my yard sometimes--came and took down the small dead tree and dug up the roots. He also dug up some large weeds. They look like a cross between rhubarb and elephant ears. Makes the edge of the yard look much nicer.

I watered some of the perennials. Luke put down some topsoil and grass seed where the trees was, but it is so hot, that I doubt the grass will grow. But I will water it and see what happens.

Called mom and chatted a long time.

Time to think about dinner. Probably the gluten free pizza (that I didn't end up baking on Friday) and a salad.

Went to church and we had a gentleman from the Gideon's speak to us (annual event.)

Turns out he was the guy who used to own the RV sales and service center back when we lived in our RV full time.

He was repairing that thing quite often. (one reason it's GONE!) It was good to see an old friend and realize how long we've been living here! This is year 25!

I didn't sleep well last night, so I got a 3 hour nap. Yikes. I go to see my sleep doctor tomorrow.

I probably haven't told you guys about my CPAP being under a recall. It's a really messy situation. Millions relying on the machines and now they are potentially dangerous. (This one can cause lung problems due to the foam inside of it.)

So .. we WAIT and wait and wait for replacements! It's dangerous either way .. not using or using.

So my doctor will probably get me started on trying to obtain a new machine from a different company. It could take months and months.

See you tomorrow!!

Hiker .. glad you got the tree OUT!

AK .. Sounds like great food!

Doing OK, manna??

We had a lovely weekend with Hubby's brother and his family here. It was over way too soon!

Their son brought his 4 wheeler along and all 4 boys went exploring the trails in the woods on 4 wheelers.

Hubby & his brother rode back to the neighbors this afternoon.

Saturday the boys got a ladder and picked the peaches. Tomorrow after the bread is baked, I'll peel the peaches that are ready.

I sent 2 moonflowers along home with my sis-in-law. We dug up some meadow tea plants for her tea patch.

Manna--Glad you could enjoy your husband's family visit!

Tutu--Sheesh! Can't believe the recall on the CPAP. Will pray you find one quickly that doesn't bother your MCAS.

After I did my knee exercises I did odds and ends chores.

I watered some outside and need to go back out and water the new grass seed again this evening.

Sprayed a few pairs of socks and work gloves with permethrin. They are hanging outside drying now.

Went to the library. Think I go there at least once a week. [Big Grin]

Cleaned out several shelves in the basement. I had way too many gift bags and bows. Also had way to many old t-shirts, towels and sheets that I use for waxing car or spreading on floor when I paint.

Went to the recycling center.

About time to get the garbage to the curb. Then will grill burgers for dinner. I have fresh tomatoes to go with them.

Baking day - 18 white, 3 wheat and 2 each of cinnamon swirl, cinnamon raisin and Italian.

My saffron bulbs came today! Hopefully this evening one of the boys can run the tiller through the bed where I want to plant them. I'll wait till tomorrow to plant.

Should go pick tomatoes this evening.

Hubby finally got a lot of mowing done. It was sunny yesterday and today and dried things off nicely. Can't mow hills when they are wet.

Started doing laundry. Did one load of towels. Have the second load of jeans in the washer now. Its supposed to be sunny again tomorrow, so they'll go out on the line.

You all sound busy, busy! Been on the phone trying to straighten out Mom's old alarm company who is still billing her. Then spent over 2 hours on the phone trying to activate Mom's and her BFF's new cell phones!

Made brunch and dinner and also finally got Mom out to our favorite thrift mall, Joey's.

I snagged a great car vac, military knee pads, and a Kavu single strap back pack. Hope to use the back pack on the bike.

Trying to get to sleep because I have to be at Ft Benning around 6:45 to wait in line in the hopes of renewing my ID. Sure hope I can get it done tomorrow because mine expires on September 9th. Need it to get Mom's meds, groceries and gas for her car.

Night all!

AK-Hope you got your guest pass at Fort Benning. I know you are trying to get everything organized for when your mom has her treatment.

Manna-I don’t think I have ever seen saffron bulbs.

Went to neurologist today for yearly checkup. No changes in meds, so that is good.

Did my back exercises and balance exercises.

Watered outside plants early this morning. Very hot and humid with heat index of 110.

Took a short nap this afternoon. Then vacuumed most of the house.

Am reading the latest James Patterson book called The Noise. Not his typical mystery. This one is scary and would make a movie that Josh would like, AK. May not sleep tonight. [Eek!]

Saffron is a kind of crocus. So the bulbs look like crocus bulbs. The flowers look like crocuses too, but with 3 long red threads of saffron growing in the flowers. Here's a link with pictures.
https://www.americanmeadows.com/flower-bulbs/fall-flowering-crocus-flower-bulbs/saffron-crocus-bulbs

This is another flower that only lasts one day. So you go out to pick them each day until they are done blooming. They are fragrant.

Today I canned the peaches from our tree. Got 9 quarts and made a peach cobbler for supper with the leftovers.

Hubby worked on fixing the lawn mower. It was leaking oil. The one tire on the tiller was flat so that needs fixing also.

Sonny did some weed eating for a neighbor this morning, until he found a yellow jacket nest. He said everything flying scared him so he came home. Yellow Jackets are bad this year, at least around here they are.

This evening, the girls picked the tomatoes & yellow beans. One of the boys picked a bucket of apples and I dug some potatoes and red beets and picked the few lima beans that were ready.

Well, I didn't sleep Monday night at all so Tuesday at Ft. Benning was rough. After 5 hours I did manage to get my ID and afterwards did some grocery shopping at the commissary.

Home for a much needed nap and then took Mom to her BFF's to add contacts to her new phone.

Back at home did the same for Mom's phone then showed her how to use Roku to access a Japanese TV channel that I added.

Had a wonderful night's sleep and met my friend for lunch today and did some errand running afterwards.

Suppose to try to some kickboxing moves with her tomorrow and hope and pray that I don't hurt myself! LOL!

Hiker you're so right about that book if they made it into a movie! The downside is that Josh would make me go with him. Glad that your appointment went well.

Manna my sister's favorite dessert was peach cobbler. Thanks for the link! Me and Mom enjoyed being amazed how labor intensive it must be to harvest saffron! No wonder it's so expensive.

Back to watching TV with Mom.

AK--I am impressed your mom can use Roku. If my mom's 30 + year old TV fails she will never learn a new remote. LOL

Let us know how the kickboxing goes--preferably not from a hospital ER! [Big Grin]

Went grocery shopping. Bought a lot of postage stamps along with food as they are going up in price for a few days. Since I still send old fashioned letters and Christmas cards, figured I would save in the long run.

Did my knee exercises.

Made chicken salad.

Talked a long time with mom. Am trying to explain to her that if I don't call her every day it doesn't mean something bad has happened to me and she doesn't need to call me in a panic. Sigh. Also talked with another elderly friend who is full of wisdom and good humor.

Very hot and humid again today. We had a good thunderstorm last night, so I don't need to water outside today except the new grass seed later this evening.

I bought a small watermelon today. Haven't had any all summer and am looking forward to it for dessert tonight or tomorrow. I always have trouble telling if the melon is ripe for cutting.

Made a batch of V8 tomato juice today. Just finished open kettle canning it. Whew! That is hot work! Oh! The first one just sealed! Got 14 quarts.

This time all 8 veggies were grown in our garden and tree!

Sonny used the weed eater at the neighbor again this morning. He wore a long sleeved shirt to protect his arms from getting hit by poison ivy, and hopefully no bee stings. Unfortunately he got stung twice on the arm by a yellow jacket. The neighbor came with spray to kill the bees.

Seems to be bad this year with yellow jackets. I poured Sevin dust down the holes of the 2 nest in our yard this morning. Haven't gone out to check on them yet. Preferred not to get stung.

Got the towels folded and put away. Started folding the next basket of wash. Still have a few more waiting.

Yes, saffron is labor intensive to harvest. My sis-in-law worked where they used saffron in their cooking. She said they bought it by the pound and it was kept locked in the safe because it was so expensive! When you are just growing enough for yourself, its not so hard.

Interesting about the saffron. I'm not sure what it tastes like and I probably will never know.

AK .. My friend C ended up in the ER last week due to kickboxing. .. She is not new to it either.

They think she tore muscle off the bone. That has happened to her ankle before and she does NOT plan to have surgery on it.

Hiker .. glad your appointment went well!

I went to exercise today and did 10 laps and 14 minutes on the NuStep .. plus the other activities. I graduate on Friday ..which is kinda sad.

Now I can only exercise twice a week unless I go at 7 am. That would be difficult due to the fact that I would need to take meds first.

It takes an hour to get all meds down and eat something.

See ya tomorrow!

Watered outside today despite a little bit of rain last night.

Did my balance and back exercises.

Went to my women’s group picnic. Very hot and humid but I lasted a little over an hour. At least we were in the shade. One gal brought her pet hedgehog. What fun!

Have a headache. Partially heat related but also my sinuses won’t drain. Sigh. always something.

May douse my pork chop with hot peppers tonight to open up the sinuses. [Big Grin]

Later: got ready to cut my watermelon tonight and noticed it was leaking. It practically exploded when I cut into it. Needless to say it was a rotten melon and makes me sad. Not enough worth taking it back to the store as it is putrid. [cussing]

Finally got my Mom's power of attorney fixed. I signed accepting being her designee and had it notarized today. When we had all her papers drawn up in 2017 the JAG office said I didn't need to sign until I needed it. Well, that didn't make much sense to me especially when I had my own papers drawn up and Josh, my designee, signed immediately.

My attorney today said that if something were to happen to my Mom I would have to hunt down a notary and sign then, which he said didn't make sense.

Home to make lunch for me and Mom and then we headed to her BFF's again to work on an issue with her phone....sigh....

Mom made an awesome noodle stir-fry for dinner and we had a small radish salad with a soy and lemon sauce called Ponzu. I ate way too much!

Hiker I sure hope you feel better soon! The hedgehog picnic sounded like so much fun!

Manna sounds like you have your own home sauna! I was going to do laundry today myself but didn't get around to it....sigh....

TuTu thankfully no kickboxing today. I did buy athletic tape for my fingers and wrist and since I have only one good arm I hope and pray I don't injure that one! I have yet to get some regular exercise. I'm just not motivated. I've gained way to much weight and am reduced to wearing stretchy pants....sigh....

Hoping I can turn myself around and get more motivated. I need to wash and vacuum the cars again and work in the yard before our yard guy comes to cut and weed eat the lawn. I trim the bushes and pull weeds, etc. so at least that'll be a bit of exercise.

Off to find something to watch on TV. Night all!

Did my knee exercises.

Watered some outside and will do the rest tonight.

Went back to the grocery store to get my money back for the rotten watermelon. Good example of how something can look so good on the outside but be horrible on the inside. [Wink]

Went to chiropractor and then have been lazy.

Talked to mom and then chatted with a college buddy for a long time.

Picked a bucket of beans this morning. The first of second blooms for this season.

Saw yellow jackets going into the ground on the hill two places. Took careful note of the area so the boys can dump Sevin dust down them. I don't want to slip and fall on the hill so will let more agile boys do it. I have dumped dust in 3 nest near the house and all is silent there now. Total of 8 nests so far. This is crazy!

Did laundry - hung most of it out - it dried nicely and its all folded and taken to the correct rooms.

Tomorrow a friend and her children are coming in the afternoon. Her children liked our cats best of all the animals we have.

Manna--I think I would like the cats, too. Can't believe you have that many yellow jacket nests, although another friend has been complaining about them, too.

Typical Saturday for me. I did a load of laundry.

Did my balance and back exercises.

Watered a little bit outside. My front yard has a hole that has been increasing in depth. Took out a dead tree over 5 years ago and had the stump ground up. Roots have probably rotted so the hole appeared. Anyway, filled it with topsoil and added some grass seed.

Football season has started, so I watched my alum team (Univ. of Illinois) beat Nebraska. Go Illini! [Big Grin]

Just chillin' this evening after I water the grass seed again.

This morning I went out to plant my saffron bulbs but decided the bed wasn't good enough. Hubby had tried tillering it last night. The tiller ran out of gas, so he filled it up and then when he tried backing it up, it promptly shredded the belt!

So I took the ground shovel and dug the edge straight. Loaded up the grass and weed clumps to fill in the gulley's in another area. Didn't quite get finished. It was rather warm and it was time to come inside and cool off. My daughter wondered if I was sunburned because my face was so red. I was just so hot!

Had a very pleasant visit with our friends this afternoon. The youngest daughter played with kittens all afternoon. She would have loved to take one along home, but her father is allergic to cats.

This evening we lit a fire and had mountain pies. First time since last summer.

The boys took the 4wheeler and the pull behind mower up to the hayfield a little while this afternoon and again this evening. Slowly but surely we are taming the wilderness!

The plan was to do yardwork and maybe wash and vacuum one of the cars. It rained off and on most of the day so binge watched a Chinese historical drama entitled Empresses in the Palace. Each episode is 1 1/2 hours long and we watched 3! Our behinds were so sore from all the sitting.

My Mom is enjoying them so much we might watch the last 3 episodes tomorrow.

See you all tomorrow!
