Thanks, AK, for getting us started.

Missed church because mom called. Her cordless phones weren’t working but her old fashioned phone was. She didn’t know what to do. Walked her through what to do and then maintenance man called me. He managed to get them working but this is a constant issue. Phones are only a year old, so don’t think she needs new ones.

Had maintenance man put up new shower caddy for her. It is suctioned to wall and she will be lucky if it stays. Then discovered Amazon was sending a replacement for the one that didn’t work, so dealt with Amazon to get that stopped before it got to her.

Customer service at Amazon was not helpful with other questions on returning the one that doesn’t work. I have a label for the box but it says nothing about postage. Guess I will go to UPS store this week and figure it out.

So wasted a lot of my morning.

Did a load of laundry.

Am watching Illini basketball now.

Just reading tonight.

Went to the library this morning.

Borrowed my neighbor's drain snake as bathroom sink is still draining slowly. Think it worked.

Went to library.

Filled the bird feeders.

Drove the hour to my mom's. Swabbed her DNA and mine and went to FedEx to mail it. Hopefully my brother will get the results soon.

Packaged up the defective shower caddy and took it to UPS.

Mom is going to the dining room for dinner. I am eating Lean Cuisine in her apartment. Will weed out papers while she is at dinner.

Cleaned mom's bathroom and then the microwave.

Took her garbage and recycling down to the trash room.

After 3 days of excruciating back pain, I finally was able to get the pain to a manageable level. It took pain pills, advil, lidocaine patches, epsom salt baths, aspirin, back brace, heating pad, freezer gel packs, melatonin, lots of pillows, Xanax and tens units

No more leg presses @ the gym.
No lifting over 10ths.
Practice proper back health.

Today I FINALLY took down all of my x-mas decorations and put them all away. Had to do it before March! I started a few weeks ago, lol.

Cleaned kitty litter boxes.
Took garage out. (I only fill my bags 1/2 way now).

Went on coffee run. Went to pick up meds.
Started chicken soup in crock pot.
Did 1 load of laundry.

My neighbor brought over stuffed green peppers and brownies.
(Yeah, he’s a great neighbor.) He’s 86 years old!

Got to go walk the dog to the mailbox.
Have a great night.

Hiker why the DNA tests?

BB you and I are in the same pain filled boat.

It's official, I've tweaked my bad shoulder. After three days of meds, pain ointment, pain patches and massage it still hurts. My back is better but the shoulder is going to take some time.

So taking it easy and just reading this evening.

See you all tomorrow!

Ak--My brother is having some neurological issues. They thought years ago it was Parkinson's but it isn't. He had had a genetic test that showed a gene for spastic paraplegia which can lead to lower limb paralysis.

The gene is dominant which means he need only get one from a parent or it could have arisen spontaneously. The genetic counselor wanted the whole family tested. But my parents never had any of the symptoms, so I bet mom doesn't have the gene and I doubt I have it, either.

I took mom to the podiatrist today. She is able to go back to wearing her regular shoe on her left foot instead of the stiff boot like shoe. That made her happy.

Ate lunch with her and then drove the hour home.

Filled the car with gas in Mom's town. It was 34 cents cheaper there than where I live. Go figure. [dizzy]

Did my knee exercises and balance exercises.

Paid bills. Called the weed control company and told them not to come this year. Too expensive. Talked to the guy who mows for me. He is going up in price, too, but still worth it.

Went to the car wash but like yesterday it was so crowded that I didn't wait. I am not ready to get the hose out, yet, as cold weather will return. But my bright blue car is an ugly shade of grey and coated with salt.

AK--I understand your shoulder pain. Mine is slightly better and ramping up the knee exercises is helping the knee slowly but surely.

Time to think about making dinner. Baked chicken breast with broccoli and a tossed salad.

Started a good book by Charles Todd, so can't wait to get back to it tonight. May or may not watch the State of Union address.

Had a nice sunny day.

Planted a dozen mini greenhouse water jugs this afternoon.

Did a few loads of wash. Was intending to hang it out on the line this evening until I checked the weather. Chance of showers overnight.

Laid some bricks to make steps and a path from the walk way to the greenhouse. It is just sparse grass in that area and gets so muddy over winter.

Made chili & rice for supper.

Hubby & Sonny cleared briars on part of the bank beside the road.

Saw the daffodils Daughter planted last fall are starting to peek through! Spring is coming!!

Manna--Daffodils already? Felt like spring here today with high in mid60's but only going to be in the 30's tomorrow.

I got up a bit earlier than usual so I could go wash the car. Lo and behold I do have a blue car and not a grey/white one! [Big Grin]

Went grocery shopping.

Walked around my yard picking up trash that has blown in by the wind over the winter months.

Also started picking out the asphalt bits the snow plow ripped from the road and threw up into the yard.

Talked to mom.

Did my knee exercises.

Made appointment to go back to balance therapy but am waiting a few more weeks to go hoping my knee is much better by then.

Just got back from the chiropractor and will relax so manipulation holds and drink lots of water.

Had a MASSIVE night sweat and had to wash 4 pillows and cases.
Felt horrible this morning.

Had coffee, breakfast and shower and decided to get moving.
I am determined to live life EVERY day.

hiker and akinwlf
My LLMD suggested cod liver oil and dmso for joint pain.

I just ordered my supplements through the mail but didn’t order the dmso because it stated it was for ‘solvent use.’ That scared me.
But then the description listed dosages and clinical benefits? Do they say ‘solvent use’ so as to avoid liability?

I went to the meat market and got some ribeye’s.

Stopped at dollar store and loaded up on epsom salt.

Stopped for coffee and gassed up my car.

On my way home, my car said “place car in neutral as car engine is overheating.’ I was 1 block from home so I coasted as best I could.
Waited 15 minutes, popped the hood and added water into radiator. It might be the water pump, oh no.

Walked Ellie.
Brushed cats then lint brushed them.
We all took a nap.

Hi everyone! Taking it easy so no exercise today. Ran a couple errands and made BLT's for lunch with sliced apple and cheese for sides. Also made dinner of pan seared steaks, steamed asparagus and sweet potatoes.

Mom is not feeling well today because she's going to the bathroom too much at night and losing sleep. She took a nap around 5:00 and woke up just in time for dinner.

I fell asleep during the State of the Union Address. [Roll Eyes]

BB hope you get the car fixed. Is it leaking? Could be a hose or clamp. I had to change a water pump years ago and it wasn't fun. Depends on where it's at. Thanks for the tip on joint pain.

Manna I bought a little 72 pot cheap plastic greenhouse to get my seeds started. I'm going to try some ornamental grasses, veggies and moonflowers. Wish me luck!

Hiker please keep us in the loop in regards to the DNA test. Your poor brother! Is it a progressive type of disease and can anything be done to help? One of my friend's ex has Huntington's disease and she has 3 kids. It's genetic too. [Frown]

Off to read!

Bonnie, hope your car is functioning!

Did my knee and balance exercises.

Worked on Bible study for quite awhile.

Went to Dollar General to get some cards. Did a bank trip for my mom.

Talked a long time with my chaplain friend (chaplain of county jail but used to teach with me).

Watching Illini basketball tonight.

I hope your seed starting project is a winner, AK!

Today was baking day so that's what I did!

Hubby drilled holes in about a dozen more milk jugs this afternoon, so I'm planning to plant more tomorrow.

Two Canadian geese are thinking about using our pond for their nesting area this spring. I'm not sure I like the idea, since its so close to the garden. They can get aggressive when the babies are little. I went down to the pond with the dog. But we weren't scary enough. They just swam around in the middle and honked at us.

Daughter made sausage sandwiches and spinach salad for supper tonight. Yummy!

One of the boys worked at the one vehicle that's been setting there waiting for warmer weather. They miss the shop we had at our other place.

BB, Hubby & the boys just replaced a fuel pump in the van. Today it went for its test run when they went for groceries.

Ugh only about one and a half hours of sleep last night. Had to go to the bathroom almost every hour! My histamine must be high.

Sat with Mrs. H today. She's not feeling to *****y due to a UTI. Seems to be a reoccurring issue for her.

Once home gabbed with Mom and then sautéed sliced steak and added my leftover cream of mushroom sauce and let it simmer to tenderize the meat. Alas my Mom still couldn't chew it so she had just sauce and rice.

Hiker I'm going to try and exercise in the morning. Hope my shoulder can handle it.

Manna you guys are so busy! I'm hoping to get things done outside this weekend. Also have to attempt to do my taxes. I haven't done them myself in years!

Off to read and hopefully get a good night's sleep.

Manna--Around here there is never just a pair of Canadian geese. They come in gaggles!

I did my knee exercises this morning.

Washed my sheets and wrangled them back onto the bed. Soon it will be time to put the flannel sheets away.

Called my mom.

Filled the bird feeders.

Had a lazy afternoon nap!

Leftovers for dinner tonight and then settling on the couch to read.

I didn't hear the geese today, so hopefully they moved on to a better pond.

Planted 11 more gallon jug greenhouses.

Moved the chicken fence to include a little bit of green grass that is growing on the south slope of the hill.

Put supper in the oven tonight - baked sweet potato fries- from our garden, yellow beans and ham. For dessert, a homemade pumpkin pie from the freezer.

Hubby & I measured the spaces to put in our raised beds for herbs. We will use some of the old barn wood to build the beds. We will need to saw some wood for the rest.

Hubby hung the bird feeders on a wire instead of on the wooden pole. The cats were climbing the pole & sitting on top waiting for the birds. We have very few birds visiting the feeders compared to last winter. We also have way more cats. The neighbors cats have adopted us.

Hiker .. keep us posted on the gene testing. Is your brother getting worse now?

Bonnie .. how's the car?

Manna .. daffodils .. cool!!

AK .. hope you got some sleep last night!

I've been so busy. Tuesday I had Bible study at church, followed by 2 hours of crafting. We have 25 hats for our shoeboxes now!! (just since January!)

Then on to exercise at 3 pm.

Wednesday was N U T S .. It's too exhausting to explain all of it, but I had an eye appointment, led our condo Bible study since our leader was on a trip, then I managed to "lose" my keys which were actually in a pocket of my NEW purse.

I had no clue I had put them in the wrong place. I had gone back to my car to get something before the Bible study and I thought I had locked my keys in the car.

Then off to church via my Bible study host. (since I couldn't find my keys)... got there just in time to get ashes for my forehead. [Smile]

Hubby took me home and I looked for my keys. NO GO. Went outside later to look again. NOPE.

Finally about 8 pm I decided to go through my purse again. Bingo!!

Thursday was exercise, then shopping and then teaching the crochet class at the library. It was great. One of my good friends at the condos lives in MS .. so she came to learn also. (She made it back here and had not been here since December.)

So I'm still tired. HA! Even had a two hour nap after running some errands.

Oh .. also, my poor sister in law in Houston fell again and broke her right wrist. She was just recovering from having broken her arm in December. I think she was on her way for her first PT on that when she fell!

Then, that night she became incoherent .. which has happened to her before. They ruled out all the bad stuff. She was in the hospital the past two nights and will have surgery on Tuesday on her wrist.

see ya later!

Woke up early after a wonderful night's sleep and worked out to my usual 3 DVDs (about an hour) and added Jane Fonda's low impact workout (advanced part) for another 25 minutes.

Ran errands and made brunch then tried to tackle my taxes using TurboTax. Both my Federal and State were wrong and were kicked back to me to fix.

Josh tried to help tonight but we're waiting on the IRS to contact me so I can try to figure out why they're not accepting my info from a previous tax year. Ugh!

Hiker I was planning on reading also but it's too late now!

Manna your dinner sounds amazing! Josh took me and Mom out to dinner to celebrate his Mom's birthday after we visited her at the cemetery. We all had sandwiches, sides and he also bought a cheesecake that we ate later.

TuTu whoa! Slow down! You've had one crazy busy week! I hope your SIL will be OK.

See everyone tomorrow!

Tutu—you do sound very busy. Don’t think I could keep up with you.

AK—glad you got some sleep. And way to go on the exercise. I agree that probably better to call Turbo Tax. You will be waiting on IRS until the cows come home.

For the first time ever I had trouble with Turbo Tax this year. I couldn’t get it to fill out a form correctly. Sadly Turbo Tax was no help and I sent my taxes off and pray I don’t get audited.

Did a load of laundry this morning.

Did my knee and balance exercises.

Took a nap this afternoon.

Last night was the 1st night of NO SWEATS!!!! Yippie.
Lots of energy today, got a lot done.

I vacuumed laundry room, dinning and living room.
Washed the kitchen floor.
Took out garbage and recyclables.
Gave the dog a bath.
Did a load of laundry.
Made large pot of chicken and dumplings.

I finally figured out why certain streaming stations wouldn’t load.
Took me 2 hours to figure it out. Kept saying poor connection.

I changed all wires. I placed firestick in other TV, still not loading.
So frustrating. Finally I checked my internet speed, 2.2, VERY LOW!!!!!

Had to call cable company to reboot on their end.
I pay for high speed internet which constantly is not high speed, UGH.

Lymetoo- I haven’t driven my car so I don’t know status.

hiker53 and akinwlf- My taxes papers have been sitting on my counter for the past 1 1/2 month. . . I just can’t deal right now.

MannaMe- homemade pumpkin pie, yummy!

Did several loads of wash and hung them outside today. It was a lovely warm day - no need for even a jacket! I love it, but am hoping it doesn't stay this warm very long or the fruit trees will blossom too early. I'd rather it stays cold until spring is here to stay.

Daughter and I have been decluttering and putting things in place in the kitchen cupboards. Since everything is rearranged we need to find new homes for everything.

Hubby & the boys worked on fixing rust before the Jeep is ready for inspection.

The boys went to play disc golf with friends this afternoon.

The dog was loose while they were outside working. She spent a lot of time chasing imaginary fish in the tiny stream coming off the mountain. Barking and splashing in the water. She was kinda muddy too!

Stuck a couple sweet potatoes in potting soil. I have them half in and half out of the soil on their sides. This way they can grow sprouts which I'll plant in the garden to grow more for next year.

Daughter baked a cake for one of her brother's birthday. We'll have his party tomorrow for lunch. She still needs to decorate the cake. That's the fun part!

Up to early with maybe 4 hours of sleep. Worked out to 4 DVDs then made brunch for me and Mom.

Picked up potting soil, drill bit for tile and seed starter soil.

Once home I had to search for one of my seed packets...argh! Got my little plastic seed starter greenhouse loaded up with blue fescue, red ornamental grass, moonflowers, daisies and mixed wild flowers.

Picked up trash and limbs in the yard.

Broke one of our plant pots trying to drill a hole in the bottom. So I didn't try that again so wasted $17!

Easy dinner of sandwiches and soup.

Manna your dog is living the life of Riley! Happy bday to your son!

BB glad you had a good day! I need to vacuum and dust too. Chicken and dumplings sound delicious!

Hiker I'll try calling TurboTax but the issue is with the IRS kicking my taxes back stating my income is incorrect for 2020! I input exactly what was on my 1099R. IRS is supposed to contact me...sigh...

TuTu I'll try TurboTax but I don't know if they can help.

Time to veg!

[hi]
