The House GOP are using Social Security and Medicare as a negotiating tactic to lower the deficit. Here’s the late President Ron Regan discussing this false narrative;

https://twitter.com/morethanmySLE/status/1612489966050807812?s=20&t=_4To7SVIVM1OFsdUQcdKPA

SAY NO TO CUTS ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE!

Social Security and Medicare are NOT entitlements.
It is OUR money that we paid into our entire working life!

Please take 2 minutes out of your day & CALL your House Representative & 2 Senators in Congress & tell them NO CUTS TO SOCIAL SECURITY.

We NEED to have a record of the calls.

They HAVE to log EVERY call: 202-224-3121.

Let's flood the switchboard TOGETHER! 🙏

P.S. Don’t be surprised when you call and hear that Senator Mitch McConnell is experiencing a HIGH AMOUNT of calls, lol.
Keep calling and let your voices be heard. 💚

Goodness, more lies to cover up the what's really going on in this country. Nothing like scarring the crap out of senior citizens and disabled Americans.

I'm so sick of dishonesty and corruptions in DC. I'm sure that I can get this thread moved to Off Topic where it belongs.

In fact I'm going to report myself.

There has been a lot of posturing and back and forth about what will happen to Medicare and Social Security since Republicans are in control of the house. This started before the midterms.

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/02/us/politics/republicans-social-security-medicare.html

The debt ceiling is due to be raised by January 19 but that may not happen or may come with cuts in programs. Which programs remains to be seen.

map1131--So while we don't know if cutting Medicare is true, one does need to remain vigilant about programs they have paid into.

This thread doesn’t belong in Off Topic but I want to point out that Off Topic is NOT a place for false claims and it seems to have become that.

I am not saying BartenderBonnie's post is here false, I am just saying that Off Topic is full of false claims.

But talking about social security does relate to Lyme as many here rely on social security and Medicare. So, this does apply to General Support.

With due respect map1131, please read the descriptions for each forum.

General Support Forum
General support and discussion for Lyme patients.

Off Topic
Topics that have nothing to do with Lyme Disease.

My thought process for posting in General Forum is that many Lyme patients RELY on Social Security and Medicare as their ONLY means of support.

Cutting ANY Social Security or Medicare is UNACCEPTABLE to Lyme patients, the disabled or the elderly. Period! Lyme patients would be severely impacted by cuts and therefore my post is applicable in the General Form.

If you want to make a difference, use your energies to call your Representatives and Senators and tell them NO CUTS TO SOCIAL SECURITY or MEDICARE! 💚

Yep, so many Lyme patients are on Social Security and Medicare! This issue has begun heating up and we need to protect everyone's sources of necessary income and health coverage. I will make calls soon.
