Thanks for starting us off, Lymetoo.

Did a few odds and ends for mom this morning.

Drove back to my house.

Took recycling to bins and took books to public library.

Then took a long nap.

Spent time chatting with my BFF.

So not much exercise today.

Leftovers for dinner and then a chick flick.

i'm doing mini workouts on the days when i don't do full workouts - so at the moment that's every other day

a full workout every day is too much for me at the moment - and i have to be careful not to overdo it still - but i do feel like it helps to keep me mobile and flexible if i do a mini one on the rest days

today's mini one was:
20 bodyweight only squats
20 standing heel raises (i use bottom step of stairs)
20 pressups
20 isometric curls (using the muscles in the arms to provide the resistance )
20 isometric presses

no equipment needed

Today I started out taking the dog for a walk but quickly abandoned the idea when the snow on top of the fallen leaves proved to be too slippery on our hills.

Most of the snow is gone again till this evening. Very muddy out there!

Hubby and the boys went to church. The girls & I stayed home.

Took a nap this afternoon.

Sent a long email to a friend. Say a prayer for them. They are house hunting since their house fire last summer. Very little on the market in their price range. But we know God can provide!

Want to mix up my sourdough bread and let it rise overnight.

Hubby fried eggs and scrapple for supper tonight.

Thanks TuTu for starting the thread this week!

Hiker I was napping away too today. Sure was tired.

Go Garz!

Manna you OK?

I did am and pm SI PT and one round of shoulder PT with 3 lb weights and bands.

Managed 2 loads of laundry and had leftovers for dinner.

Mom is still bedbound and ate very little for dinner.

I was a couch potato today and napped and watched TV.

Off to read more health stuff on the internet.

Exercises on hold for now as I recover from having family visiting, two by two over 11 days

- and I tripped on a cracked pavement, fell and broke the radius bone in my left arm last Thursday.

Learning to maneuver with a big clunky cast is not fun!

Ann-OH. Bummer about your broken radius. How long do you have to wear the cast?

Garz—what are pressups? Are they the same as push-ups?

I slept until 9 AM. Takes me a while to get used to the time change.

Did a 6 minute bike warmup before my knee and feet exercises. Then did my shoulder stretches. My shoulder sure regrets shoveling the heavy snow and that was over a week ago.

Talked to mom even though I just saw her yesterday.

Rode the exercise bike another 24 minutes.

Starting clearing out items from the guest bedroom for the carpet installers who come later in the week. I am not a person who holds on to items, but was surprised at how much I have in there to move. The carpet guys will move the furniture.

Washed a white laced table runner that is over 100 years old. Despite using some bleach I can’t get the brown out of the lace. [Frown] Ironed it and put it in the cedar chest for now. May put it back on the chest in the guest bedroom later.

Will grill a couple of burgers and have one for dinner tonight with a vegetable and tossed salad.

Ran to the PO, went and looked at a wheelchair for Mom and stopped at my fav health food store to pick up more supplements for sleep.

I know my mast cell condition is causing my insomnia and hoping adding these 3 will help. I bought magnesium threonate, Relora (magnolia bark) and liquid melatonin. I already take GABA and 5HTP.

Made Japanese pancakes with slivered lunchmeat and green onions in the batter and cucumber salad for dinner.

Did all my PT and arm exercises. I stopped the arm to opposite knee with weights since my SI is tweaked from pushing my Mom on her rollator.

Oh no Ann-O! Hope you heal quickly and got a pretty colored cast.

Hiker you're doing great with the biking. Sorry about your table runner. I bet it's pretty!

Time to read more health stuff on the internet.

Sorry, forgot to write last night.

It was baking day and my sourdough bread flopped so I had to make an extra batch of white bread.

Put a few more stitches in the quilt while waiting on the bread.

Washed two loads of laundry.

Boxed up the eggs.

Ann-O hope your arm heals fast and that you are right handed. Brings back memories of when my daughter broke her arm falling of a sliding boeard.

Ak, hope you new supplements help you sleep better. I'm okay. We had a bug.

AK .. consider looking at your diet. When I eat foods containing high salicylates, I will be awake "forever."

You probably aren't as sensitive as I am since you do seem to get away with eating them a lot.

Just pay attention to the foods that are really high ... like spinach.

My cast is a pretty sky-blue and will be on for 5-6wks.
It's kinda clunky, but I can still use my fingers.

I will try to do more walking around the house, and and any other exercises I can work out.

Thanks for being concerned. I really like this thread!

Ann—I remember as kids we would sign casts of friends who broke arms or leg bones. They were plain white casts back then. You seem to have a good attitude about it.

I slept in again but the had a busy day. Lovely day out. Sunny, no wind and 40 degrees. I will take that over 60 and windy any time.

I did my balance exercises and then rode the exercise bike 12 minutes.

Then did my feet exercises and shoulder stretches.

Went back to the exercise bike for another 18 minutes.

Went to the public library and got 2 books.

Did two loads of laundry to wash the bedding from the guest bedroom including bedspread and mattress pad.

I think my washer needs to be replaced soon. It got through the rinse and spin cycle but didn’t rinse off the soap. Had to run it through those cycles again. But is over 30 years old!

I ordered 2 hypoallergenic pillows for the bed in the guest bedroom and they came today. Big box; so broke it and other boxes down and took them to the recycling center.

Sat for awhile with a cup of hot chocolate and watched the birds at the feeder. Wrote out my weekly grocery list.

Just relaxing tonight. Maybe some TV and reading as usual.

Cold with snow showers again today. 28* now. The boys slid into a lamp post on the way to work. Broke the headlight and the bumper, but the lamp post was unscathed.

Finished the quilt and took it out of the frame. Now to cut binding for the edge and finish it the last part of it.

Sorted out papers for taxes.

Talked with my sis-in-law a little while.

25 eggs today.

Got the rest of the laundry washed and dried. Still need to fold and put it away.

On Friday brought in some cuttings from the flowering quince that had buds on. Today they are starting to open!

1 round of PT for the shoulder and SI. Also did my arm exercises.

Mom wanted bacon, cheese eggs and toast for breakfast. Trying to keep her sodium up.

Helped her with a shower and after getting her tucked into bed again cleaned the bathroom and washed a load of towels.

Spent about 3 hours on hold with the VA trying to get Mom's 1099-R's. Now I have to try and get her SS tax docs. She was supposed to file for 2021. Probably will let a CPA do her taxes and I'll use TurboTax.

While on hold moved shelves and rolling drawers from Mom's room to mine. Making room for a hospital bed.

Ran to pick up Mom's RX.

Josh came by and brought Mexican fast food so I didn't have to cook. Yay!

Slept really well last night but was kinda dragging today. Magnesium threonate is some strong stuff. I can only take one of the recommended 3 capsules.

I see everyone is busy and dealing with weather issues. Stay warm friends!

Manna-glad the boys were unhurt but sorry the car needs repair.

AK—hang in there. I would think that social security and the VA would send the tax documents to your mom. SS sends their document to my mom. 🙁

Went grocery shopping this morning. Pork chops were buy one pack of 3 and get another pack free, so guess I will be eating a lot of pork in the near future. Lol

I did my knee and feet exercises.

Rode the exercise bike for 20 minutes.

Did my daily devotion which includes Bible reading, listening to National Cathedral morning prayer, and watching a Christian video for women (called Better Together). I start watching the video when I ride the bike but it is almost an hour long.

Chatted with mom a long time.

Went to the school district office to pay my health insurance bill and then went to a local chiropractor who sells the type of silymarin I like (milk thistle).

Was going to go to Lenten servIce at church tonight but the Reverend has Covid.

And you can guess what is for dinner: cooking a pork chop [Big Grin]

Hiker, do you put any special seasonings on your pork chops? We just got pork for our freezer, so lots of pork to use!

Washed 2 loads today and folded most of the wash left from yesterday.

Rifed muscles-to-relax twice today. Sure eases the tight muscles in my back.

We got a new dog and he's being a whiney baby when he's tied up. We're hoping we can let him have free run of the property once he knows where home is.

Tonight he ran after a chicken that was out of the pen and caught her. He ran around the house twice with her till we got him stopped and took her. She was a bit slobbery and had some ruffled feathers but seemed otherwise unhurt. When we set her down in the pen she seemed to be a bit dazed. Wonder what she was thinking??

Cleaned out the fridge and had a hodge-podge of leftovers for supper. The new fridge is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

The sad thing about the broken headlight - he had just put new ones in not that long ago! Yes! Very thankful the boys weren't hurt. I'm always glad when the winter weather is over.

Did my morning SI and shoulder PT and my arm exercises.

Also vacuumed the car and side door steps and mats.

My Mom did great getting to the lab but it took a Salonpas patch, a SI belt, half a pain pill and muscle relaxer and a wheelchair.

I was so relieved she was able to get out of the house today. She's still bedbound most of the day but I was so proud of her.

Once home and got Mom settled ran to pick up a few groceries. Mom is having just a small smoothie and I bought veggie sushi from the grocery store.

I'm very tired today. Had a bit of heartburn last night that kept me up a bit.

Watched the 1995 Brady Bunch movie and soon as I give Mom her 10:00 pm med and smoothie I'm heading for bed.

See everyone tomorrow!

AK—is the heartburn from Mexican food or from the magnesium threonate?

Manna—what kind of dog did you get? Sometimes mutts are the best kind.

I season pork chops in different ways, but usually cook them without seasoning and add later. Sometimes I add barbecue sauce.

But tonight I just cut it into small pieces and added it to a spinach- romaine salad with broccoli, carrots and strawberries and some vegan ranch dressing on top. Sounds odd, but easy and a full meal.

Woke up earlier this morning. So, did my balance exercises and shoulder stretches right after breakfast.

Then had my women’s share and prayer group.

Rode the exercise bike for 15 minutes.

Cleaned the dress clothes out of the guest room closet. Carpet tomorrow!

Called CVS about mom’s prescriptions. She needs to doctor to renew them. CVS claimed they still don’t have a credit card on file so can’t mail the prescriptions. Still can’t figure out how last month they charged my credit card when mom went to pick up her meds because she doesn’t have my credit card.

So, spent a long time on the phone with the main credit line at corporate CVS. Hoping we got it straightened out but won’t know until next week when the prescriptions get called in.

Took a nap.

Am now watching the Illini in a losing battle to Arkansas in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Leftovers for dinner.

They FINALLY lifted the mask mandate at our hospitals here.

We have to wear them at cardiac rehab but are allowed to have them below our noses when exercising. As of today, NO MORE!

It was glorious and also fun to see what everyone looked like. Pretty funny that there is such a difference.

I exercised on Tuesday, walked at the Rec Plex yesterday and then exercised today. I'm on a roll. LOL.

AK .. I hope you won't have heartburn tonight. I'm working on getting a 2X4 placed under the head of my bed's mattress.

hiker .. What is wrong with that CVS!!??

Manna .. your new doggie sounds fun!

Sunny day today.

Took the milk jug greenhouses out of the greenhouse this morning. It gets too hot in there when the sun shines on it. Its supposed to stay in the 40's overnight tonight and then get cold Saturday night.

Baking day. The sourdough bread flopped so there are less loaves to send tomorrow. Going to try making croutons with some of the flops.

Our dog is a german shepherd. This morning I let him loose and he decided to go visiting somewhere. He came back before anybody went looking for him. Kept him tied up unless we were out with him.

The chicken was acting normally this evening, running around with all the rest. Got 27 eggs this evening.

The new fridge was delivered and installed. Its bigger than the one we had.Hopefully we can keep it more organized with more space. Has the freezer on the bottom, a first for us.

Sonny practiced parallel parking, then cleaned out the vehicle. Rode his dirt bike and let the dogs loose to run along with him.

Hubby and oldest son drilled holes in the floor to run new electric wires to the upstairs. The boys want to remodel their room after the new wires are installed.

I thought I'd be oversleeping in the mornings after time changed. Instead I'm waking up earlier and then I'm so tired at night.

Manna great way to use that bread. What I wouldn't give to have a pet. I'm living vicariously through your family and all the animals!

TuTu I think my heartburn might be from laying down after taking all my supplements. Now I'm trying to sit up for awhile and hope that was the culprit.

Hiker that CVS is something else! I need to eat more salads like you do. I'm usually a salad freak but have been to lazy and will just eat sliced cucumbers.

Had to fuel up with coffee this morning to get going and managed my usual PT's and arm workout.

Made breakfast then puttered around until Mom's phone appointment with her GP. It went well and I picked up the RX for a wheelchair and hospital bed later.

Once home worked on paperwork that has been piling up and was on hold for about an hour with SS to get Mom's 1099.

Should be able to do taxes soon.

Leftovers for dinner and I'm so ready to get some rest.

Night gang!

AK—not sure when you will need hospital bed or a wheelchair but I think renting or going through hospice is the much cheaper. I wouldn’t buy one. Hospice will provide them for free and a person can stay in hospice longer than 6 months, if that is a concern.

Got up way too early for the carpet guys. They were running late but they did a good job. Carpet is a bit plusher than I thought but looks good.

I then put everything back in the guest bedroom and remade the bed.

Warmed up on the exercise bike for 5 minutes before doing my knee and feet exercises. Also did some shoulder stretches.

Sinus headache again today and feeling toxic. Now that I am going to coffee shops and not wearing my mask I think I am picking up infections like I did when I was teaching.

So, after chatting with mom I took a nap.

Nice sunny day out but with windchill it feels like 20 degrees.

Tossed salad and probably a low sodium TV dinner for supper tonight.

Then movie and reading. I have been recording old movies like Little Women, Sounder, Ben Hur etc.

Ugh. Just got a call from my own pharmacy who said they are unable to get my seizure medication and it may be months. They have a 10 day supply left. Well, this is a conundrum.

Hiker thanks for the info! Medicare should pay for the transport chair. I couldn't lift the wheelchair, about 45 pounds so need the much smaller and lighter transport chair.

Medicare rents the bed for up to 13 months and Mom has a secondary policy through the military so we shouldn't have to pay....I hope.

Woke up at 5:30 (to early) and had so much to do today. Typed a letter to send to Mom's military health insurance, sent a get well card, dealt with hospital supply shop, picked up Mom's RX and made her payment and went to the commissary for a 15 pound bag of rice.

Mom has been sleeping most of the day. She had back pain today so had to give her extra meds.

Just half an egg and cheese sandwich for dinner for both of us.

Did all PT and arm workout.

I'm pooped!

[sleepy]

Hi everyone!

Started my day with SI and shoulder PT then did my arm workout.

Made scrambled cheese eggs and bacon (Mom needs sodium) and half a French toast each.

Afterwards I cooked some pears with butter and all spice that were getting over ripe and with the bananas I made some half flour half brown rice flour banana bread. Tossed in sunflower seeds for crunch and it came out pretty good.

Also went ahead and made boxed organic mac and cheese, jazzed up a can of Bush baked beans, and rolled up some hotdogs in crescent rolls. Now all I have to do is bake the pigs in a blanket.

Josh is coming for dinner so it's easy dinner night and some carrot cake cupcakes followed me home from the grocery store so we'll have those with coffee for dessert.

Mom is staying in bed but we'll hang out there with her for awhile just to bug her. LOL!

We're getting below freezing next few nights so moved all my plants in the laundry room that's attached to our carport. I've got 2 lights on so hope they'll be OK.

Hope you guys that are having cold spells stay warm!

See you all tomorrow!

[hi]

AK—it has been a long time since I have had macaroni and cheese. I miss it.

Had a pretty lazy day overall. It did snow last night so I went out to sweep off the porch and sidewalk but it was icy. It has melted but it is quite chilly with the wind.

Did my balance exercises.

Did a load of laundry.

Called my pharmacy to transfer prescription but pharmacist said since she she gave me a partial refill (out of pills) that she can’t transfer the prescription to another pharmacy until the next refill.

She put in an order for the med but doesn’t know if it will come anytime soon. I am not comfortable without a full month’s worth of seizure med. My pharmacy is really good and when I looked up the drug there is a shortage nationally. CVS said they didn’t have any but Walgreens did. But now I just have to wait.

Watched a couple of Christian videos and after lunch I took a nap. Probably napped too long.

Meatloaf is the main part of dinner tonight. Then movie and reading.
