Want to warm up from the winter cold?

Come join us on the exercise thread. [woohoo]

Here we encourage each other to get up and move about---whether is walking, using resistance bands or weights, cleaning, shopping etc.

So, tell us about your exercise today or just tell us about your day.

Good morning!! Are you freezing to death?!??

It's 1 degree here with "feels like" at -8. OH well!!

Snow is on its way, so they say!

Did my church service online last night, will do it again today. Our church was canceled, but the entire service was sent in email.

Stay warm, everyone!

Happy New Year on the Julian calendar! [Wink]

Braved the 12 below temps with 37 below windchill this morning to clear the walk and drive of the light snow.

Church was open but I watched it online.

Did a load of laundry. Even the clothes that got tried in the dryer were not warm.

Cleaning gal cancelled this week as her van is unreliable in the cold and her cleaning supplies would freeze.

So, I cleaned the kitchen and bathroom and vacuumed.

Watched some of the Illini basketball game.

Leftovers for dinner.

Watching TV and reading tonight.

Hiker thank you for keeping us motivated another week.

You guys are having some really cold weather.

I boiled some eggs today like Manna did yesterday and added that and some bacon and onion to my broccoli salad for lunch.

Josh came by with pizza tonight since he's off tomorrow for MLK Jr's BDay.

Oh and last night we finally watched the Korean movie BB recommended. It sure kept us on the edge of our seats!

I've had really bad headaches since Friday and finally figured out it's from my PT. Have a huge muscle spasm along my shoulder blade and it's affecting my neck. I've been taking a quarter of a muscle relaxer, a quarter of a pain pill, Advil, magnets and using an impact massager. It only flares up in my sleep but wakes me up so I take the meds and massage it until I can go back to bed.

Very discouraging but my foot is getting better! I'm only doing 2 stretches and it seems to be helping. I do my PT at least twice a day.

Hope everyone stays nice and toasty warm!

Heat wave today. Got up to +4 degrees. Somehow it feels colder than yesterday.

Friend from college called me before I was even out of my pjs this morning. We talked a long time.

Did my knee and feet exercises.

Walked to the mailbox to get the mail that came Sunday. It wasn’t delivered Saturday due to the winter storm so it came yesterday.

Worked on getting mom’s prescriptions. One down and one to go.

Called mom and chatted quite a while. A podiatrist had come to the retirement center and mom said she went and “got her toes cut off.” [Big Grin]

Read a bit. I have the Bills/Steelers game on mute.

Took my garbage and recycling across the street to my neighbor’s bins. No place to put it in front of my curb as the snow plow put the snow there.

Hamburgers for dinner and then relaxing.

I took meds last night before I went to sleep so no headache. I'm going to skip the pain pill and muscle relaxer tonight and just try Advil before bed.

Did 2 rounds of PT for my foot and shoulder blade and also I be added bicep curls and tricep extensions with a 3 lb weight. I do 2 sets of 12.

Trying to break up weight bearing exercises so it won't seem like such a chore.

Took garbage cans to the curb and picked up wind blown trash in the yard.

Looked online for jobs but didn't apply. Each job you have to sign up on their website and submit a resume. I don't even know why the job search website wants you to download a resume when each job you apply for you have to use that company's website. Very time consuming.

But they have a lot of jobs so I'm hopeful.

I know we're all getting blasted with colder weather so stay warm friends!

Cold here today. Had snow showers all day. Maybe about an inch of snow. 23* Supposed to be more snow showers all night until 9 AM. Hope the roads are fit to drive on when the boys go to work.

Today I left the guinea door open and some of the young guineas did go out. Some of them couldn't figure out how to get back in again. I opened the people door & turned the lights on. They found their way in that way.

Baking day. Doing less than usual because of the snow.

Did several loads of laundry.

Gabbed on the phone with my nephews and my brother for awhile.

Wind chill warning ended at noon and now down to a wind chill advisory. Still not above 9 degrees without the wind chill.

Went to get my Pekana supplements this morning.

Did my balance and shoulder exercises.

Listened to National Cathedral morning prayer.

Read a bit.

Went to chiropractor this afternoon. I have been slightly toxic the past few days and she released a lot more.

Still waiting for mail to come and will brave the cold one more time today.

Leftovers for dinner and then a little bit of TV and reading.

Washed and dried my bedding and towels. Did 2 rounds of PT today for my shoulder and foot. Also included 2 sets of 12 bicep curls and tricep extensions.

Ran to the tag office this morning and then to the library for 1 1\2 hours of typing practice.

Stopped at Walmart, a super discount store called Black Friday Deals and Sally's Beauty Supply for hair color.

Grabbed with Josh on the phone and watched a movie.

It's 17 degrees tonight which is cold for my neck of the woods. We had rain earlier.

Sure hope we all stay safe while driving.

Cold here today. 8* this morning. Thankfully not much wind and the sun came out. Warmed up to 29*! this afternoon.

Did some desk work.

Put the batting and backing on my flannel scrap quilt. Started quilting it. This one is getting big stitches.

Gathered 31 eggs this evening.

Didn't let any of the penned up animals out today. The ground was snow covered anyway.

Supper will be baked potatoes with chili, broccoli, and for dessert a peach cobbler. Waiting for the boys to come home from work.

Sis-in-law is planning to call n gab tonight.

Lymetoo, hope you were able to get out and celebrate your birthday yesterday. [Smile]

AK—way to go on the PT exercises.

We had a virtual heat wave today with temps in the low 20’s. More snow on the way but shouldn’t be too much.

I took the opportunity with the warmer weather to go grocery shopping.

Did my knee and feet exercises while listening to a Christian podcast. (Called Better Together)

Got caught up with all the mail that came today(didn’t get it Saturday or yesterday due to the weather). Was pleasantly surprised with a check from Apple for a lawsuit settlement. Forgot I joined the litigation several years ago. It paid for my groceries and a little more.

Called mom. Then my Florida friend called and we chatted a bit. We have been friends for over 40 years and I am glad we stay in touch.

I was able to get the icy patio door open and filled the safflower feeder. Had to put on my snow boots to get to it.

Called mom’s pharmacy for the 5th time since Monday trying to get her scripts filled and mailed. Also used the account online and they still didn’t put them in the mail. CVS is not on my favorites list.

Took a nap and slept too long. Guess my body felt it needed it.

Am cooking a boneless pork chop and steaming zucchini plus making a mixed green tossed salad for dinner. Sadly, no dessert.

Then starting a new book.

Manna a baked potato sounds so good! Peach cobbler was my sister's favorite!

Hiker unexpected checks are always nice! I see we're two peas in a pod because I went shopping for groceries too!

Only did one round of PT. Exchanged my hair color and bought groceries. Colored my gray hair brown and did a mani/pedi. Getting spruced up for interviews.

Well several jobs I've applied for are at home so decided to move some furniture. Way overdid it and paying the price.

I moved my twin bed in to my Mom's room and moved the queen bed in the guest room into mine. Moved my desk into what's now the office and moved the sewing machine and cabinet into my room for now.

I'm still not finished but my poor body rebelled.

Tomorrow I'm going to Josh's to sit with his dog who is very sick. We're afraid the cancer has gotten the best of her. She's such a great dog.

Hope I can move tomorrow!

AK—Hope you aren’t too sore today.

I cleared the light snow from last night off the walk and drive.

Did my knee, feet, balance and shoulder exercises. Tired! Will take tomorrow off from exercise except to clear the driveway and walk again from the winter storm we will get tonight.

Put on my boots and tromped through the snow again to fill several bird feeders. It was bird bonanza here with everything from finches, chickadees, juncos, brown headed cowbirds, cardinals and a yellow shafted flicker. They know a storm is coming.

So, I did sit and watch the birds for quite a while.

Chatted on the phone with a local friend.

Dropped off books at the library and picked up one more.

I have a hearing test tomorrow. Since I tore the ear drum the ENT wants a test probably to use as a baseline for the future. Had one a few years ago and audiologist said I was normal for my age.

My dad had significant hearing loss even as a young man and mom does, too, so I need to be on top of that.

Leftovers for dinner and then watching Illini basketball.

Say prayers the snow and wind aren’t too bad tomorrow so I can get to my appointment. It’s about 20 minutes away in good weather.

A really sad day. Josh called me last night at midnight. His doggie Ada was very sick (she was diagnosed with cancer last year).

We went to the vet at 8:30 for her to be put to sleep.

It's been rough especially for Josh.

AK—sorry to hear about Josh’s dog. I know you loved her, too.

It snowed enough for the guy who shovels to come take care of my drive at 5 AM. Then later I swept off the porch and sidewalk from the blowing snow. Cold, windy with a wind chill advisory and subzero temperatures tonight.

Friends dropped me off at my hearing appointment as their gym was just down the road. Saw the audiologist and I probably need a hearing aid for my left ear where the ear drum ruptured and cannot be repaired.

Will see ENT Monday to confirm and see if he wants any other additional tests or if he thinks I have a middle ear infection, but a hearing aid is probably in my near future.

Called mom. Then chatted with a friend for almost 2 hours. She’s a great encourager and she has a great sense of humor.

Watched the birds and entered data into Project FeederWatch. The robins were so puffed out today that I had to take a second look to make sure they were robins. [Big Grin]

All in all a pretty lazy day and I will have a lazy evening, too. Everyone needs that kind of day once in a while.

Pizza and tossed salad for dinner. See ya’ll tomorrow! [Smile]

We got around 5 1/2 inches of snow with a another inch or two predicted for overnight. Not so cold today. High of 30 today.

The boys didn't go to work today because of the snow. Got a bit more of the wiring done and laid one more piece of plywood on the attic floor. Still have more wiring to do.

Washed a load of table cloths.

Mixed the feed for the chickens.

The little guineas are now able to get out into the big guinea pen. I have their door propped open only enough for them to fit through. The big ones can't get in the little ones pen. The big ones are bossy and peck at the littles.

But they do let the little ones on the big roosts at night.

Hoping to finish quilting my flannel scrap quilt this evening.

Supper was baked corn, sausages, and peas. Sonny put a pan of brownies in the oven for an evening snack.

One of the boys tried shoveling snow off the pond in hopes of skating. But the ice is not very nice. Too slushy from the snow.

Manna I'm just picturing your post with the snow and ice skating pond and it sounds like a beautiful postcard!

Hiker that is one long winded friend! I like to see birds get all poofy. They look so cute.

I'm still working on moving the furniture around but need a bit of help from Josh. I can't lift my heavy desk to get the sliders out. He's coming tomorrow.

I'm making a super easy dinner tomorrow of sliced up turkey spam sauteed with scrambled eggs and brown rice on the side.

I'll be working some more when I wake up to move the sewing cabinet and small desk and hopefully get things put away before he gets here. I've even got things in the livingroom!

I talked for awhile with Josh this evening. We're still comforting each other over the loss of his sweet doggie.

Stay warm friends!

[group hug]

Lots of snow - probably 10 inches, but very dry and light.
I did some shoveling and sweeping and putting down ice melting stuff. Very very cold!

Also drove my car in and out of the driveway. I am on a list for a snow plower, but don't know when.

Made a path to the bird feeder to feed my fluffed-up birds. The blue jays look gigantic. Cleared a space below the feeder for the birds, too.
Lots of activity. Took some photos from inside

Wearing a mask outdoors is good to keep my face and my breath warm.

Turkey noodle soup and a salad for lunch. And a cookie.

Did my exercises - felt good to stretch. Took down X-mas decorations and put them away. Hung a big crocheted snow flake above the fireplace.

Watched some Australian Open Tennis. Looks pretty down there in their summer.

Read in bed and had a long nap. Then a long phone conversation with daughter.

Ann—you have a lot more snow than we do. It is pretty but I am tired of winter already. Still frigid with wind chill advisory.

Did a load of laundry.

Then did all of my prescribed exercises—knee, feet, balance and shoulder. May regret that tomorrow.

The end of my driveway is ice. So, went to start the car to drive to the mailbox rather than risk slipping on the ice.

Car wouldn’t start. My neighbor came over with his small battery charger and jumped the car and then went with me to get a new battery. Unexpected expense but I am glad I found out I needed one today rather than Monday when I have a morning appointment.

Talked to my brother briefly—only because he hit the phone icon on his phone rather than the message icon. [Big Grin]

Watched my weekly Beth Moore video. Then worked on Bible study.

Am tuckered out. Meatloaf and snow peas with salad for dinner.

Then reading and a movie.

Got around 3 more inches of snow overnight n this morning. Probably around 8 inches all together.

Neighbor plowed our road with a 4wheeler and a blade.

I let the chickens and goats go outside today. They weren't out much or very far.

Put the binding on my flannel quilt.

Washed several loads of laundry.

Folded and put away the clean wash.

Mended 3 pairs of jeans by using fabric glue to hold the patches on. See how well its holds up.

Watered the plants.

Brought meat n veggies in from the freezer for tomorrow dinner.

Bbrrr! It's in the 20's tonight but will be warming up this coming up week. We'll have some days in the 70's! In January!

AnnO I've been flat out cookie binging myself. I don't normally buy cookies or potato chips because I can't control myself. I wish I could eat just one cookie.

Hiker I forgot to do my PT today! I puttered around the house moving more furniture, vacuuming and putting a few things away. House is still a mess though.

Manna I've never heard of fabric glue! What will they think of next! Let us know how it works.

After chores I made brown rice and small salads for dinner. Once Josh got here I made the turkey spam and eggs with cheese. Super easy dinner with cookies and ice cream for dessert.

Hope everyone stays toasty warm tonight.
