my friend, ann, is big into the computer bloggy thing.
she tells everything on this facebook she has. trips, shopping, travel, house, family. way too much for me.
so she sends me several notices and says you have got to join facebook and be my friend.
now mike hates the computer and says no personal stuff (uh huh, he doesn't read this site you can tell!!), so he says not on your life are you joining that crap.
well i tend to agree. i am afraid of facebook and don't want any personal stuff on there.
but she is still sending me these notices asking why i'm not joining and all.
i've told her i don't feel comfortable with it and she just says oh it's harmless, i have a page, blah, blah, blah.
how can i tell her i really don't want to joint her facebook and get the heck off my back? i'm starting to get a little annoyed cause she just keeps harping at me to join.
sorry,, but lymies don't like to be pushed...

Just tell her that you're not interested.
All of my friends, pretty much everyone I know loves facebook. I joined because they kept pressuring me to.
It is kinda interesting to get to see what other people are doing. An easy way to keep in touch with everyone.
But I'm not very computer savvy so I don't have any pictures on my page or anything interesting like that.

I would tell her that you appreciate her enthusiasm for Facebook, but it is not for you and that's the end of the story.

- Not thanks. Not interested. End of discussion. If asked again: repeat and rinse.
If she does not stop sending you notices, block her from your email account. Send them straight to the spam file. -

Yes!
I like Facebook because I can see what my family is doing.. we share pics and since all of my family is many miles away, I get to know what's going on!
You can also be on Facebook and share your info with FRIENDS ONLY. Not everyone in the world has to see what you post.
I have found Lymenet to be much more fun than Facebook sometimes! I can chat with people all day .. and sometimes on Facebook there is not much going on. Plus you have to be careful of what you say there.

You could just join, and not ever use your page. Like don't put anything about yourself on your page, and use some generic picture that isn't your face for the pic.
I have an account, because there are some people that that is the only way I will ever know how to reach them (people whose email addresses change). But I NEVER use it. I haven't used it in over a year or more. At all. And I am totally private, so if someone searches my name, I don't even pop up as being on facebook.
I actually hate facebook, because I find it creepy that people can stalk people, etc. But I stay on it because occasionally college friends will ask me for my address so they can send me a wedding invite, etc. So that's the only reason I keep it. (of course I communicate with them via the PM feature).
But, all that said, if you really don't want to join, just tell her absolutely not, and that you NEVER plan on joining. Tell her you are going to start sending her emails to your junk folder if she keeps sending you invites to join.
Good grief. I hate it when people can't take a hint! (your friend)

Your friend has serious boundary issues. Next time your friend brings up Facebook (my 2 cents worth) don't respond to friend's comment, instead change the subject, "So how is the weather?"
No matter "where" we are on the internet and what we "join", we just can't be too careful.
I do like FB because I get to see pictures of my grandkids.
But I don't have time to "park" or "live" there. I got a real life and I'm way too busy.

Yea, I'm on facebook but I don't write things...I read the "news" of my friends but...you know what, I don't need to know they put their kids to bed, they are having a glass of wine etc or "its such a lovely day...I'm sitting outside."
Who cares...I think people, including my friends and family crave attention or acknowledgements.
I personally get enough attention outside the computer world.
I'm such a crank.

no you're not.
i am a very private person and i normally don't tell a lot, well, ok, i've said things on here, but i have the luxury of anonimity (sorry for spelling).
my dil puts pictures of her house, tells all about our son, who is a cop, and this drives my husband freaking nuts.
she tells what books she is reading. i mean who bloody cares.
and i ain't tell people when i'm going someplace. we had a woman here in dallas who posted this and guess what? they found her address and when they got home, well they didn'thave a home. they cleaned them out totally, right to appliances and all, even the carpet was taken up.
sorry, not for me.

randi, It is scary. One of my neices get cyber-bullied on facebook & her IDIOT parents allow her on it.
I was "policing" her posts & "tattling" but her parents just don't care. Her mom is on it too, so she can see it.
DISGUSTING.
