I have performed for the local state fair from 2002 thru 2008. I didn't last year because my physical issues were starting to show.
After I had the first knee replaced in May and I had my last check up in July, he wanted to schedule the other knee for the last of August/first of September.
I begged off for the last of September because of the fair (there has never been a problem with me being called to perform and I have been a fill-in when other people canceled).
In August I called the lady who does the scheduling to let her know I was available and she said she would get back to me. We have had the same phone number and e-mail address, both of which she had, since 2006.
Well, I wasn't called or mailed to even say, "thanks, no thanks".
I wrote the fair board and expressed my disappointment, but if nothing else, I could have already had the other knee replacement and been on the mend.
Just a little frustrated.

- Sorry for the disappointment. Missing such an opportunity does hurt as these events are so special.
I hope you can contact them and find out what went wrong. They need to know so they can correct it. And they should offer you an explanation.
Whatever the reason, I hope they get better organized and treat their performers with better respect in the future. -
