Had cabbage that had to be harvested today and had been thinking about how good it was going to taste. I like it just about any way you can fix it and seeing as how I have a good size batch, I thought I'd Make a batch of sauerkraut.

I was looking for the best way to make it and stumbled on to this link talking about the benefits of this "super food". Since it is so darn easy to make and so good for us that more folks may want to try making it.

This will be my second batch, my first was a little over a year ago. I wanted to become self sufficient, so bought a beautiful crock and got after it. Must confess the first time I saw the "white Skuzz", on top it put me right off, but now having read up on the "skuzz" and how useful the process is for us and oddly enough our gardens! I still ain't eating the skuzz though!

Hello! Still fish farming and gardening! Last week canned up 16 pints of various peppers and next Monday I plan to can a batch of hi-bred Jalapeno and that will do it till fall. Too hot to set tomatoes outside, we have a few plants (tomatoes), inside but they must come down due to white flies.

Can't multi-task worth a flip. Takes four minutes to flood one of my grow beds and if I fail to turn the pump off, in another 10 it either spills over the side or collapses, like it did today! Hurrump! Well, it was an old bed, not very well made, so now I can go ahead and rebuild it correctly. I had already purchased the steel for three additional beds I had planned.

So for awhile I'll be welding and, or, mowing to add humus to my ground garden. I'll check back from time to time, just don't seem to be much going on.

Good for you! I've been here since 1970 and have yet to make it down there. We uss'ta, (Texas word) have a greasy little joint called The Black Diamond and they had the best sea food platter that I ever saw! When you've had the best, anything else is just a disappointment waiting to happen. I'm pretty much a stick in the mud, I hate to go to a new place because I know I'm going to be unhappy. My most powerful wife is the opposite, she never leaves her car keys in the same place twice!

I do believe I have been to the Black Diamond! That was a long time ago. We used to go to the Water Street Oyster Bar (probably 10+ years ago) and they have totally redone it. Very nice and great food!

One of our other favs is Charlotte Plummer's in Fulton. I really like being able to sit there and watch them haul in the oysters!

Finally remembered "for sure" ... Black Diamond Oyster Bar. Yep. Was it near one of the malls? I guess Corpus likes the "oyster bar" moniker!
