we just got our computer hooked up (yeh! no more having to go to the library)!!! problem is, i am getting bombarded with pop-up ads and ads telling me my computer has a virus/parasites and want me to subscribe to thier service to do away with these. some of these solicitations don't go away when you click on the x in the upper left corner and will reappear a multitude of times when i click on the 'no' to appling for thier service.

i even get pop-ups that interupt when i'm typing in web addresses, checking email and even bump me off the internet. how do i do away with these? they are driving me crazy! we have a dell computer and i'm pretty sure our computer service is comcast.net. i'm computer illiterate. how do i get rid of these annoyences? thanks

hi tree,

thanks for this info. i've used it, but the junk just keeps coming back pretty much immeadiatly. we lost our internet connection just shortly after having it hooked up, so i thought that i must have eraced something frim the software while running spybot. just a coincidence, but my kids were not at all happy with me, what with our finnaly getting the 'net and i try to get rid of all the junk, and our internet goes down. turns out it was just the cable outside.

however, i am shocked at the trash that just gets sent withour warning. i know we are going to have to get some anti-spam software. i'm used to being at the library; but even just now, i've had some nasty, explicit porn pop-ups sent to me. and i am VERY upset to know that this kind of trash was also sent without warning to my children. how do they get away with this stuff?
