I'm not the most computer literate person.

How do I send someone a private post? (I am not responding, but initiating the private post).

Thanks.

This is how:

First find a post this person has written. If you can't find one, use the "directory" near the top of the page. Type in their name and it will send you to them.

Then, once you find one of their posts, click on the envelope icon above their post. This is the "send a private message" icon.

Then, type your message and hit "send."

If the person does not have the envelope icon above their posts, then they do not want to receive private messages.

Let me know if you need more detail or if you get stuck on any step. I will be happy to elaborate.

Just know that when you send a private message, it is not connected in any way to any particular post. So, don't think of it as you responding to a particular post that person made.

If you want to reference a particular post in your private message, cut and paste the website address of that particular post or give the title of the thread and date or enough information that the person can figure out what post you are talking about.

Thanks so much TF. I didn't know I would need a master's degree to use this website-but then I am just dating myself!

I haven't yet tried your protocol, but I soon will. If I am not getting the hang of it, I'll send another question your way.

Thanks again.
