Anyone can support this cause. Patients, friends, family, patients of other LLMDs. Anyone. I write letters in support of other LLMDs across the country when they are attacked. Please, everyone well enough to write a letter, please help.

Thank you.

Connie

See below for instructions, addresses, etc:

THE NORTH CAROLINA LYME DISEASE FOUNDATION,INC.

Hello Everyone,

After careful thought and consideration, the NCLDF, Inc. is providing you with some ideas and guidelines that we would like you to consider when writing letters of support for Dr. Joseph Jemsek.
As you know, Dr. Jemsek is under investigation by the NC Medical Board and is scheduled for a hearing sometime Spring 2006. (The exact date can change so we will inform you of this later).
The vast majority of us in the Lyme community are aware that there exists extreme controversy in regards to the most effective way to diagnose and/or treat Lyme Borreliosis.
Most patients are keenly aware of how much better they feel after continued therapy for Borreliosis. We believe that Dr. Jemsek is really being investigated because he diagnoses and treats lyme based on a different standard of care. In fact, it appears that many medical boards around the country are attacking lyme physicians that treat longer term. This has to stop.Together we can put an end to this senseless mission. I ask you to please read this entire email and help in every way that you can.
I sincerely thank-you in advance for all your help.

1. You may write letters in support of Dr. Jemsek. These letters should go directly to his lawyer. Send all letters to:

Mr. James Wilson
9911 Rose Commons Drive, Suite E-313, Huntersville, NC 28078.

In these letters please include what circumstances led you to your final appointment with the Jemsek Clinic. Talk about the process that was used to make your diagnosis and what you were advised about the diagnosis and treatment. Please include comments about your health then compared to now. It would be helpful to talk about your experience with other doctors but please do not mention names. Family members and friends may write also discussing your improvement.

(ANY LETTERS YOU WRITE MAY BECOME PART OF PUBLIC RECORD AND PLEASE SEND THE NCLDF A COPY SO THAT WE CAN USE THEM IN OUR ADVOCACY WORK.)You may send these to me at Beth Jordan, 192 Mylands Road East, Louisburg, NC 27549.

2. It is vital at this time for you to contact your legislators. In person visits are the best with 2 or more people. You may also contact them via phone, letter or email. It is important that you alert them to the impending health crisis in North Carolina. Over 1000 lyme patients are at risk for losing their doctor. This is not a small thing.Specifically tell them there are two standards of care for lyme and that you as a patient have a right to choose which one you receive.(The two standards of care are summarized in the attachment below for those that need it).
You can search for your legislator by going to www.ncga.state.nc.us. Click on the citizen guide and you will find the info you need.

3. You may also write letters to the newspapers, to the Governor, state health officials ( at health dept)and to anyone you feel would be interested and concerned with this health crisis. Specifically, remember to talk about the two standards of care and your right to choose that which is best for you. Also mention the fact that NC's main lyme specialist is under investigation and how the loss of his license could be detrimental to so many in our state.(Dr. Jemsek currently treats over 1000 patients with chronic tick borne disease).

It is important in all of your correspondence to be balanced, articulate and factual. Hostility though understandable will not help our case. Many of you have expressed an interest in helping with our work at the Foundation. Here is your chance to really make a difference. Remember, people without lyme can also write letters. Family members and friends can be very helpful with this.
Please do all that you can and if you need help do not hesitate to contact the Foundation.

Sincerely,
Beth

Elizabeth Jordan, DVM , Pres., NCLDF, Inc.

Hey Everyone

Another one of our brave LLD's is under the gun

His hearing is coming up soon.

He needs our help now!!!

There are not enough letters coming in and I want to know why?

If you can write a post here on lyme net you can write a short paragraph and stick a stamp on it.

They are going after our doctors in CT and TX and NC. They will not stop untill we have no one left to treat us.

Are we going to sit around and let this Happen?
NO!

If you can write a post here you can send in a short paragraph to help Dr J.
I have read many personal stories of how we were bit ,how long we have been sick, and what the personl costs have been.

So I know you can do it

You don't have to name your LLD

And you can be from another state and still make a difference.

You don't have to be a patient of Dr. J's to make a difference.

We have to let them know we stand togeather and they can't treat our LLD'S this way. They can't be allowed to take our LLD'S away from us.

The sentences could be:
*I am a Lyme patient in....
*This disease has was left untreaded and It has...
*IT has taken a toll on....
*It has put a strain on my family....
*I now am getting better with treatment...

You get the idea.

I understand we are sick and struggling but picture our lives without any where to turn or get any kind of treatment. Less not let them send us back to the 80"s .

Please write a short paragraph and send it in. Before you take your next pill, or post , or infusion. Because without our LLD's there would be nothing for us left.

Thanks and lets get rolling. Im begging you.

Dr. J is the only LLD in the south east .This may not effect you personally but you have to see the big picture. The medical boards will not stop untill they have run them all out of town

So yes , this does effect you ,because yours could be next.

I have my first appt. with Dr J on Thursday. I am driving down from Virginia Beach. I haven't had an appt with an LLMD in the 13 months I've had this disease. Other LLMDs, though I have not met with them, have left a real sour taste in my mouth.

So far, Dr. J's office staff has shown me a level of professionalism, courtesy, and caring that I have not seen in a long time. If his office staff is any indication of what kind of doctor he is, I am in for a real treat.

I know he has a large group of patients that sing his praises daily (I've heard from a lot of you). I am hoping to be one shortly, and will right a letter regarding how important Dr. J is, after my appt. when I have a real feel for who he is.

Hi Ap

Glad to hear you got an aptt with Dr J.
Good luck with that. You are in good hands. I just hope He will be around for a while as his hearing is coming up fast.

For all the poster's who do not have dr. J as their doctor ... it doesn't matter your letter's are still needed.

If only to explain how important and vital to your recovery has been having a LLD.

And again you don't even have to mention their name or even intitals.

Just how crutial it has been having the opportunity to be treated and get better.

Now people send in your short letters in.

You can do this!

You can make a difference!

Please [bow]

So do I... Not only for the Lyme community, but for my appt on 4/27, as well [Wink] ... Sorry not a joking matter. I'm just in a curiously good mood right now (though the world is crumbling around me this afternoon).

How does this whole hearing thing work??? Are patients allowed to speak on behalf of thier doctor?

FYI: Was just reading the actual charges, and the hearing is now supposed to take place on 13 APRIL 2006 at 0800.

What a load of crap. I can not believe he's being persecuted for this. I could say the Rheumatologist I saw last week did the same thing to me, but he's not up for review, is he? Maybe he should be. I'd like to have a word with the jerks that "reported" him.

Writing a short letter will cost you no more than 39 cents and a few moments of your time.

What most people don't realize is that :How the outcome of his case goes, will set a presadence on how others LLD's will be treated in the future"

So this IS NOT
just about DR. J -NC .This about drawing a line in the sand. If Dr J in NC can have his lisence taken away this will lay the ground work for ALL LLD's practices in the future. Specially for Dr J in NY's who's case coming up.

Please send in your short letter of support now.
Your future of getting fair treatment by a LLD is in jeopardy

UP... I think it's ridiculous that so many voice concerns about one Dr. J, but seemingly write off and ignore the troubles of another. With all the yapping that goes on around here, there should be a lot more support for ALL of our doctors.

Please break up your LONG paragraphs with the important info in them.

I'd be happy to write a letter if I could read what you posted. My neuro lyme won't let me as is.

I have been a patient of Dr.J's for close to two years. I have been to many other doc. He is a very intelligent, introspective and caring doctor

who he ACTUALLY CARES AND LISTENS to his patients. I can't stress the fact of how impressed I have been with his intelligence and that of his staff.

My mother wrote a letter on my behalf and he ACTUALLY PERSONALLY WROTE HER BACK to thank her.

I was astonished that with all that is occuring, he took the time to do that.

He is an excellent doctor and should something happen to him it would be a great, great loss.

Please write on his behalf.

I can't say enogh good things about his clinic. Am I still sick? Very. Do I think I am getting good Lyme care? Absolutly. My Lyme case is unfortunatly very tricky. But I in no way doubt the course of action his clinc has taken.

I do not praise doctors often- please, please help his cause - or get a friend or relative to write on your behalf.

Wishing us all wellness,

-Ex-Fiddler

Hi
I just got off the phone with Alecia at Dr. Jemsek's Clinic. I have my first appointment scheduled for April 5th at 11:00AM
It's at least 2 hours to drive there from Wilmington.
I did not know he was being investigated for anything until I came here and read Connie's post...now I am totally in the dark.
Are there any threads I can read in regards to this topic??
I need to be enlightened.
Thanks
Sharon

Why are there not enough letters coming in for Dr. J. ??? I sent one to his lawyer and copy to him about two weeks ago. I live in Mobile, Alabama, and drive all the way up to N.C. with my entire family to see Dr. J. My entire family has lyme that we contracted while living in Connecticut. Now I am so worried about this.

Who in Texas are they going after? And there was another state mentioned. I know that Dr. Jones is being targeted right now. I sent a letter for him too. I have the greatest admiration for these doctors who put themselves on the line for all of us. If any person is able to brush his or her teeth, he or she should be able to write a letter of support.

Hi All,

Just to let everyone know that the medical review date has been changed to June.

I was told that we can attend in support of Dr. J. of NC.

I go back up there on April 6th and will try to get more info and post it here.

I finally finished my letter and am priority mailing it tomorrow with an enclosed picture to Dr. J's attorney.

If anyone wants to read my copy of the letter just pm me and I'll email you a copy.

God willing, I plan on being there for the hearing too.

I'll let you all know what's going on unless someone else posts the info first.

Your friend, aklnwlf [Smile]

I would like to see all of these jacka roos who are going after LLMD to come down with Lyme, neurological, and pain and go through what we endure for one week. Then we will see how " real" or "phony" this is.

I am in the process of writing articles. My newspaper article comes out in May in the local community.

I am writing articles for nursing magazines. I am telling everyone that I was a registered nurse and had a wonderful life. I made the error of either taking trash out or bringing groceries in or sitting on my patio in suburban Phila. I am writing to tell people you suffer, you lose your homes, jobs, incomes, health, mobility and future. I am writing to tell people that after all that, you battle doctors and unreliable tests to find God knows an answer so that you do not suffer. I am writing to let people know the doctors who treat us , are subject to the Salem Witch hunts and by the medical community standards we are expendible. They are scared to let the US public know we have a crisis in this country and the mass hystyeria it will produce. We do not need terrorists and " 911" to victimize this country ( and no disrespect meant to families affected by those events or military serving this country) . We have our own stealth terrorists, less than the size of a punctuation mark right here, right now.
I am writing all the support letters and contributing as much money as I can.

I was just at the clinic yesterday, 5/18, and they are still encouraging letters by patients and family/friends of patients...

so just bumping this up as a reminder in case anyone wants to write who hasn't.

Both Dr. Joneses need and deserve our support. Please do what you can.

mspiggeehere What's your beef with Dr. Jemsek? Do you have any personal experience with him? Every single one of your posts seem to have an agenda to bash him. I don't get the feeling that you really care about Lyme patients and their treatment.

Yo HO Connie Mac...

And I see Little wolf too.. and so many others! Good to see you all!!!

I spoke with Dr. Jem a few nights ago. After our talk I have decided to try and get a Lyme Train headed his way for the hearings.

Folks up this way (Maryland) can get a round trip train ticket for about $80.00. That sure beats driving and the high priced gas costs!

Folks closer can get cheaper Amtrack rates.. so do check it out!

WE NEED EVERYONE THERE!!!

Please come!!! We want the press and officials to see our numbers and KNOW we are serious!!!

Let's paint CT and NC Lyme green!!!

I'm also working with a nice fellow on Hotels.com who is setting us up with low hotel rates too!!!

The details will be posted on a seperate post soon.

Please check it out!

Here's the latest scoop. I'll post in General too.

Hearing date is June 14,15 and 16th. That's a Wednesday thru Friday.

Held at the North Carolina Medical Building in Raleigh, NC. Address is: 1203 Front Street Raleigh, NC 27609-7533.

I'm going for the week. I'll be getting an email from them soon and will post it asap.

People plan on wearing lyme green arm bands. Course, I might want to wear all lyme green LOL!!

See you there.

He, everyone- is there anything to report? I have been visitibg at my bro's in Boulder, and cosequently "out of the Lyme loop"-- I came home any noticed nobody said anything about what happened-- I am fearing the worst. Was justice not served and Dr. J completely exonerated? I will look around anxiously for more news.
